Imagine Thorin will stop loving you - Part 2
There are some requests that I apparently forgot about that were left in comments below earlier chapters. I'm currently writing this at the 24th of December of 2016 (because I am behind), and I thought it was a good idea to still write these for you.
The first one was requested by a couple of people in the comments and in private messages; Part 2 to the imagine where Thranduil tells you Thorin will stop loving you as soon as the goldsickness hits.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Gold moved beneath your feet as you walked over it. You heard it landing somewhere below, on one of the thousand trinkets that laid scattered in the massive hall.
He heard it too.
Thorin heard you coming long before you reached him. Normally he would greet you with a loving smile, keeping his eyes fixed on you. He didn't have time for that right now. "Have you found it yet?" he asked sharply.
You stopped dead in your tracks. "No, I... I wanted to see my husband" you spoke softly.
A low snort cut through your heart. "You think we have time for that?"
He bend down, grabbing a handful of golden coins. One by one he let them fall back on the pile at his feet. "Have I treated you so poorly in the last couple of days?" he asked, his low baritone filled the entire hall.
It send shivers down your spine.
You hid your right trembling hand behind your back. This was exactly what Thranduil had warned you about. He had been here for almost the entire day ever since you entered the mountain.
Instead of letting you go in alone, he had gone in with Bilbo at the same time.
No one was sure what exactly happened but they both looked grim once the dragon was slain.
Thorin dropped the last few coins with a simply flick of his hand. Unsteadily, he walked over to you. "There is something I need to find, my beloved. You promised me you would stay in the throne room." He cupped your cheek.
"I thought that I could help you search for it" you whispered.
His expression remained the same, like one of the statues his face appeared to be made of stone. "Did you stop to consider I told you to stay for a reason?"
You swallowed thickly. Thranduil' words echoed through your head;
"We all know that he will turn against you too."
"Only a few days in..." you whispered instead of just thinking it.
Thorin' eyes narrowed. "What was that?"
You froze. "Nothing, I just-"
"I am sure he will keep loving you like they loved their 'Ones'."
"Do you think I'm a fool?" Thorin asked sharply. His hand dropped from your cheek. Something changed in his eyes. He held your gaze with his fierce look, like he was searching for something in eyes. "Do I frighten you?"
Unconciously, you took a step back.
He pulled his hand back like you had stung him. "Have I ever showed you anything but love?" His voice had a slight tremble in it.
"I-I, don't know..." You pushed back the tears. "Why does that stone matter that much to you?" you suddenly shouted.
His brows furrowed. "What are you talking about?" He took a careful step towards you.
You laughed in a sarcastic manner. "Don't play with me. The arkenstone, of course. The one thing that you will be searching for until you find it. The stone that will make you forget all about me" you said.
Thorin reached for the pocket of his coat. A small gem like stone appeared in his calloused hand. He looked at it like it was a plate of rotten meat. "This thing has brought my family nothing but trouble. I'm keeping so that the wizard may get rid of it once he's back."
He let it slip back into his pocket. His eyes found yours again. "I understand you would worry about my family' ilness." He sighed, looking down at the gold beneath his feet.
"I was worried for you" you spoke softly. "Thranduil said that-"
His eyes were set ablaze after the mention of the elves' name. "What does he have to do with this? Is that... is that why you were upset when you returned to our prison cell?"
You rushed to him, grabbing his hand and bringing it to your lips. "My love, I didn't want to question your love but I wasn't sure what was going to happen once we would reach the mountain" you explained. You placed a kiss on his hand.
"I didn't want to listen to him. Truly, I didn't. But he got inside my mind and-"
Thorin silenced you with a kiss. When he pulled back, he tried to smile at you. "I would have doubted me too" he said. "You had every reason to worry."
You shook your head. "No, I didn't."
"Yes, you did. I married a smart dwarf, didn't I? I should have talked to you about this a lot sooner." He sighed. "I can't undo that mistake. For now I can only reassure you that your love seems to be blocking whatever power the arkenstone has over my mind."
"Your parents-"
He nods. "My grandfather didn't seem as obsessed with his horde whenever his love was there." His eyes darted off. "I guess that I should be fine for as long as you are with me" he finished, smiling lovingly at you.
"I will have to stay with you then. What a horrible fate" you whined. You let your head fall against his left shoulder.
Softly, he pulled your hair over your shoulder so he could see your smile. "That is why I'm looking for my mother' necklace. It should be here somewhere, I hope."
"Your mother' necklace?" you asked, pulling back from his comfortable shoulder.
"Aye, I wanted to give it to you. Now that you're here you can help me search." He grabbed your hand, leading you to the right side of the stairs. "You start here and I start over there. The sooner we find it the sooner we can rest."
"And if we don't?" you asked. You pulled away a large chest filled with rubys and emeralds.
Thorin smiled. "Then I will show you what gold sickness is like and keep you here without food or sleep." He walked off to continue his search on the other side.
"Are you serious?"
"As serious as you want me to be."
