Imagine Thorin teaching you to use a sword
Imagine from imaginexhobbit: Imagine Thorin teaching you how to use a sword on the journey to Erebor while Fili and Kili watch, laughing.
This imagine is mixed in with my other question for this week; What were Fili and Kili doing during the time the trolls were able to steal some ponies?
Of course this story is totally not incorporated into the movie side of things. This is just fan fiction :P The last one totally happened is all I wanted to say.

"Come here" Thorin ordered. When you looked his way he jerked his head.
"So much for asking nicely" you said, getting up despite wanting to disobey him. Who did he think he was, ordering you around? Besides being the king and all that...
"Good luck" Bofur mumbled so that Dwalin wouldn't hear him. He winked at you.
This would lead to your death, you were sure of it. He was waiting for you with his sword ready in his hands. What had you done to deserve such an untimely death? Oh Gods above spare you from this horrible death -
"Did you forget how to walk?" he asked. He raised an eyebrow.
"I am sorry I am not that hyped to die today" you mumbled so he wouldn't hear. "I am coming!" you said a little louder. How hard did he expect you to walk if he gave you no further explanation and waited for you with a sword?
Who wouldn't be scared?
"How can I help you?" you asked, keeping a safe distance from the pointy end of his weapon.
Thorin slowly raised his sword, turning away from you. "Stand over there" was the simple instruction that followed.
"Stand over there?"
The king nodded. "Grab the sword on the grass."
You weren't sure whether you should listen to him or not. Wasn't there supposed to be some kind of madness running through his bloodline? Like, should you be listening to him at all?
"Problem?" he asked, looking at you over his shoulder.
"N-no, should there be?" you asked suspiciously.
Thorin was now thoroughly confused. "I beg you pardon?"
You practically ran towards the sword when he distracted. "Nothing, what did you want to show me?"
He slowly walked towards you, slowly shaking his head. "You can't be so hasty in battle. Am I correct to assume you have never had any training with a sword? Or any weapon for that matter" he said with a mocking tone that annoyed you greatly.
"What makes you think that?"
"After seeing your 'skills' in battle?" He shrugged. "Everyone could see you had never held a weapon before."
You crossed your arms, almost dropping the sword. "Well, it was also clear to me that you have been raised by trolls."
"Excuse me?"
"Apparently you have never been taught how to talk to a woman" you said.
Thorin let it slide for him although he could already feel his blood boiling. "Can you show me what you think the basic standing position is when in battle? Or do you need some help from a man?"
You narrowed your eyes. But with this you could immediately prove him wrong. Though you had no battle experience yourself, you had paid attention to the dwarves during battle. There was not a whole lot you could do otherwise.
All you did was make sure you didn't get in their way.
The one time you had tried to fight alongside them... Let's just say you were thankful they looked out for you at all times.
You copied the position you thought he wanted you to take from your memory.
He nodded. "Surprisingly enough, you are correct." Thorin walked around you. "For how long can you hold it?"
Was he serious? Your arms already started to tremble, holding the heavy sword for as long as you did. "Is this really necessary?"
"Do you want to be surprised by an enemy or do you want to be ready at all times?"
"I don't want to die" you said, rolling your eyes.
He halted in front of you. "Then this is necessary."
Thorin let you hold that pose for about ten minutes. Every time he saw your sword slowly go down to the ground, he gave you extra time. You had to force yourself to hold it up, to tell your arms they were not tired and could hold the weight.
"Can we do something else now?" you whined. "I'm getting tired."
"Your enemy won't ease up just because you are tired" Thorin said, his face stern. "Get in position so I can teach you how to attack and how to defend. Which one do you want to start with?"
You got back in position, your arms protested immediately. "Euhm.... maybe, defence?"
A smirk crossed Thorin's lips. "Then I will attack first."
Oh no.

"I bet you ten gold coins that (y/n) is going to loose fast" Kili snickers. The two brothers are hiding behind a bush, looking at the 'match' between you and their uncle.
Fili narrows his eyes, trying to determine whether you are acting like this to surprise his uncle or if you really don't know what you are doing. "Mmm... I am not sure Kee. She does take the right stance every now and then."
Kili shrugged. "Overall she is doing poorly. My money is safe."
They continued to watch as you were almost thrown on your back. Thorin was in time and wrapped an arm around your waist so you wouldn't fall. "We can go back to something easier, if you want?" he said, smirking.
His nephews did the same behind the bushes.
You pushed him away, surprising the king a little. "No need. I will have you fall on your ass by the end of this!"
The king grinned as you charged at him. He simply stepped to the right. "Will that be before or after you are able to raise your sword?"
Thorin looks up when he hears someone laughing. His eyes scan the nearby area. There is no one in sight. He is about to pause your training when you run towards him with your sword raised. He blocks you just in time.
"Getting tired old man?" you asked.
A single eyebrow is raised, the sides of his mouth turn up.
"Why is he smiling?" Kili asked astonished. "She attacked him when he wasn't paying attention!" He is trying not to talk to loud. Their uncle had almost spotted them when they had laughed before.
Fili smiled knowingly. "Because she can keep him on his toes."
"What do you mean brother?"
"I mean that we have to help uncle in the right direction. According to mother he has never had an eye for a woman. So he probably won't know what to do" Fili explained.
Kili thought about it for a moment. "But uncle has had the same lessons as you Fili. He must have learned how to court a woman" he countered.
Fili shrugged. "Perhaps, but it can never hurt." He got up to return to the ponies. "Besides, learning how to court and executing it are two different things." Fili lead the way back to their watch spot. Apparently it was dinner time because the hobbit was making their way towards them.
"Fili? I think we have a problem."
"What are you talking about Kili?" Fili holds still next to his brother. "Oh..."
"Oh indeed."
