Imagine Thorin at an anger management class

Imagine from imaginexhobbit: Imagine accompanying Thorin to anger management classes.

You knew you were in for a good time. Your boyfriend had asked you to accompany him to his first anger management class. Currently he was sitting next to you with his arms crossed and a stern frown on his face.

"So, mister Oakenshield" the therapist started with a happy ring to her voice. She clearly didn't know what she was in for.

"Can you tell me why you are here today?"

Looking over, you saw that he raised an eyebrow before responding. Oh God.

"This is called 'an anger management class'. I don't think there is room for any confusion as to why I'm here" he said. He was already sounding annoyed. That would end well.

She smiled at him. "We all know that you are here to learn how to deal with your emotions. Let me re-phrase my question; What event was the trigger for you to come here?"

"There was a man staring at my girlfriend." Thorin shrugged. "He shouldn't have done that."

The therapist looked over at you, then back to Thorin. "Can you tell me why that angered you so that you," she looked down at the file on her lap, "felt the need to throw him over the balustrade and into the lake?" She looked at him over her glasses.

A proud smile formed on his lips. "He had it coming."

"Based on what?" she asked him.

"It was clear that my girlfriend was there with me. It was clear that she was, and still is, in a relationship. He shouldn't have stared at her like he was undressing her with his eyes."

You felt a strong need to cover your face with your hands. For now you decided against it. "Sometimes Thorin has a little trouble with other man. Not that he is controlling. He just... doesn't like it when another man shows interest."

The therapist nodded slowly. "Understandable. However, mister Oakenshield, do you feel that this was the best response to a man staring at your girlfriend?"

Thorin puffed out his chest a little. "I didn't immediately throw him over the balustrade as he claimed." His face was turning slightly reddish. "First I send him a warning glare. To let him know he was about to overstep a boundary."

It was clear that the therapist wasn't that impressed.

"After that I kisssed my girlfriend and placed an arm around her shoulders. To send a clear message that she was off limits."

"Alright."

Thorin moved to the edge of his seat. "And he still wouldn't stop staring at her. So I had no other choice" he said. He stared straight at her, daring her to disagree with him.

She took her time to let his words sink in. "Do you feel uncertain where you stand in your relationship?"

The room became so silent that you could hear a needle fall on the ground. If someone would do that sort of thing.

"Excuse me?" His voice was dangerously low.

"Thorin, we have been in here for under ten minutes" you whispered to him. It did nothing to calm him down.

"Usually, when a guy feels as if his love interest can't be on the receiving end of another man' interest, he feels uncertain about his own relationship to that woman. Do you feel as if your relationship isn't where it should be?"

You gave up on helping the therapist. She was digging her own grave.

"There is nothing wrong with our relationship" he stated, trying to remain calm.

She turned her attention to her. "Does he limit you in your actions? Or prevent you from going places without him?"

"Now listen -"

"He does nothing of the sorts. I have to say that he doesn't even call or text me when I'm out without him. We have a rule that I call him when I'm on my way home. That's it. The rule goes both ways. Just to make sure we know when the other person leaves so that we know when to expect the other home."

She kept looking at you for several seconds.

"No, I don't feel like my boyfriend is controlling. He is simply a little... well..." You looked at Thorin. "I don't know why he gets so upset whenever another man asks for my attention. It is not like we don't have male friends."

Thorin shook his head. "Those are man that I know have no interest in you."

"So they aren't a threat?" the therapist asked.

He ignored her. "I know that there are some better man out there for you. I love you... I don't want you to realize you can do better and leave me" he finished with a soft voice.

You laid your hand on his knee. "Not going anywhere. Don't worry. But you may be going places if you keep throwing man over balustrades. Apparently he was wearing a very expensive suit. Dry cleaning can get quite expensive if you ruin many suits."

He smiled softly. "I will try to work on it."

The therapist clapped in her hands. "Great! Look at everything we've accomplished in so little time!" You both looked at her like she had lost her mind. "I can give you some homework to learn to identify when you start to feel irritated with people."

She got up to grab some papers from her desk.

The hold of Thorin' hand on yours tightened. Your fingers caressed his knuckles. "They may help" you whispered.

He showed his teeth. "She annoys me."

You pointed at the papers she was currently going through. "And if you do those excercises you will know exactly why she annoys you so."

Thorin looked at you skeptically.

You put up your hands. "Not my words, she said it first."

"Here they are!" The therapist handed Thorin the papers. "And I will see you next time! Good luck. I believe in you!"

It goes without saying that Thorin never returned for his second session.
