You were wearing white. All around you, there were flowers that were blossoming. Almost as if they were greeting you, welcoming you into this new world. 

The whole atmosphere just made you feel like dancing. As if you could let anything go and it would be alright. The pink flowers of a nearby cherry blossom tree were dancing all around you. They decided the rhythm and you went along with it.

Their swirls and sways carried you along. You had never felt this light before. 

Somewhere in the back of your mind it registered that cobble stone started to appear beneath your feet. The cherry blossom flowers lead you down the path. It all felt so peaceful. 

Music started to fill your ears. A deer was prancing along beside you.

Birds left their nests to sing their songs to you. They fluttered around you, cheering you on. 

A lightness flooded through your head. Everything was going to be alright. If you just followed the animals, the cherry blossom and the cobble stone path... then everything would be alright.

"Come back to me."

The birds went back to their nests. It didn't stop you from your dance though. Not even when the deer disappeared back into the forest, did your feet stop dancing. 

"Please, listen to my voice and return to me."

The cherry blossom dissolved into thin air.

"I have never loved someone like I love you... don't leave me."

A sharp pain made itself known to you. You moaned slightly when all the feelings and memories came flooding back to you. Someone with black raven hair was sitting next to you. That person was holding your hand.

They got up to caress your cheek. "There you are, my sweetling. I knew that you could do it. They said that you wouldn't come back but you followed my voice." Their voice was thick with emotion.

"Can you see me, my beloved?"

You blinked a few times. This person was trying so hard to get your attention and your eyes just simply wouldn't focus. All you could see were blurry images and pops of color. All you could focus on was this black raven hair in front of you. 

It spread throughout your whole vision. 

"Can you hear me?"

"Y-yes" you whispered, your voice uneven. 

A warm sensation spread through your shoulder. Something beneath you dipped. You let it all happen. You were enveloped in more warmth. 

"Are you hurting?"

You tried to nod but when you tried, it just send more pain down to the left side of your body. It was as if there was something wrong with your chest. You started panicking, it was getting harder to breath. 

"Don't do that love. It will just get harder that way." Warmth enveloped both of your hands. "I am here with you. You are not alone. Breathe with me." You tried to focus on the breathing that you heard around you. You allowed it to guide your own breathing pattern. 

Your eyes adjusted to the light. "T-thorin... i-is th... you?"

A warm laugh spread joy throughout your whole body. It lighted the room even more. 

"Aye, it is me. You didn't think that I would leave your side, now did you?" The room fell silent for a minute. "Not after I got so close to losing you."

You didn't have the strength to put your hand up to touch his cheek. But it was all that you wanted to do. He shouldn't be crying. Not after all that you had been through already. "Don't... cry" you managed to say.

"How can I not cry when I used such harsh words towards the woman of my dreams? Tell me how I can not call myself a fool when I have wasted so much time in denying what I felt for you? Because I can't give you the answer.

"I almost lost you because I was too busy focusing on other things. Things that were important but not as important as you. I was blinded by a horde of gold. If only I could take back all the time that we lost together."

He sighed. Took a deep breath. "How can I ever begin to apologize to you for all the horrible things I've said to you?"

"I forgive you."

Thorin smiled unhappily through his tears. "You are such a noble, kind-hearted woman that you can find it in your heart to forgive me. But I am not deserving of your forgiveness. So I will not accept it. For the rest of my life I will work hard to earn it, my love."

Tears started to form in your eyes as well. With all your strength you mustered to say; "Don't keep doing this to yourself. You are torturing yourself for so much already. I knew all along how you felt. Don't worry about that."

When he opened his mouth to speak, you shushed him with one look.

"There is no other man that I want to spend the rest of my days with. So don't leave me lonely and forgotten about for the rest of my life. Will you finally court me already?"

You both smiled, Thorin with more strength than you could manage at the moment.

"If that is truly your wish my beloved the-"

"It is. Then your punishment can be my cooking. I have shown you that I can defend myself but baking is not one of my many skills, I am afraid" you interjected.

Thorin leaned in to whisper into your ear; "I think I can survive that. As long as you stay by my side to keep me from saying stupid things."

"Deal."
