"That was a weird dream" Nathalie said, stretching her arms lazily.
"What did you dream about? Maybe about a certain toy talking to you?" a baritone voice came from behind her.
Nathalie laughed. "Yes, what else should it be about? It is the movies fault, I have seen it too often" she said. Nathalie got out of bed to get ready for the day. She was about to walk to the bathroom when she realised something.
Slowly, she turned around to look at her bed.
There Thorin sat, not standing as he should be, but sitting on her headboard.
"Please, don't scream. Try to remember your 'dream' and I won't have to explain it again" Thorin said quickly.
Nathalie tried to stiffle the laughter that wanted to come out so badly. "Oh my god it did happen" she said, quickly running back to the bed. She sat down on her bed, looking at Thorin with a renewed interest.
"So, it all really happened then?" she asked astonished.
Thorin sighed deeply. "I just told you human." Maybe he tried to sound stern but he was just so cute to her. She couldn't help herself. "You are so adorable" she said before she could stop herself.
The dwarf was not very happy about it. "I am no such thing!" he shouted.
This, of course, didn't help his case. A little dwarf with a temper was even cuter.
"Of course you aren't cute. I am just playing with you" Nathalie said to comfort him.
Thorin huffed, crossing his arms in front of his chest. "You should be playing with me instead of simply taking pictures. I demand more attention."
"Of course my king" Nathalie said in a joking tone, ignoring the fact that her toy was now alive. She turned around without another word, ready to finaly head to the bathroom.
"Where are you going?" Thorin asked, not liking the idea of being left alone in the bedroom. He jumped on the bed and onto the ground to follow her.
Nathalie knelt down to pick him up. "You don't want to be left alone here?" she asked.
"Don't use that town on me! I am Thorin Oakenshield, son of Thrain, son of Thror" he roared.
The young woman wasn't impressed. "I know that. But I can't take you with me. Not when you are... talking" she said, her voice softer now.
Thorin stuck his nose in the air. "I can't see why not. You were talking to me when there were other people around you before. Why can't you do it now?"
Nathalie rolled her eyes. "Because now you might actually talk back when I speak to you. And I won't take your word for it if you tell me you'll keep still" she said determined. The two were at the same level of stubbornness.
"You are taking me with you! Otherwise I have to stay here all day, listening to your bird's uninteresting stories all day long" Thorin said, his eyes spitting fire.
The young woman thought about it for a moment. Before explaining what she was about to do, she opened the door and walked into the bedroom. Where her mother sat.
"What are you doing?" Thorin hissed so only Nathalie could hear him.
But there came no explanation. Instead, Thorin found himself standing in the window-sill. With one of the cats. He couldn't move nor make a sound because her mother was also in the room.
With a smug smile, Nathalie turned around and went into the bathroom.
"What does this woman think she is doing. All kinds of danger could be laying around the corner. Why doesn't she understand she needs me to keep her safe?" Thorin thought as the cat came closer to take a sniff.
"Go. Away." Thorin hissed.
