Imagine playing metal for the Elves
Imagine from imaginexhobbit: Imagine playing your favorite metal music for the Elves and their reactions.
Gandalf wanted you all to thank the elves for their warm welcome. He said it would be the polite and correct thing to do.
The dwarves weren't too happy about this.
They felt like the elves had been forced to put up with them by Gandalf. It had nothing to do with those tree-shaggers being nice or wanting to share their home with the other race. So why did they have to do something back?
Besides, Thorin wanted to leave as early as possible. There was no way that they would do anything nice for the elves.
"We can give them something nice" you suggested.
Some of the dwarves rolled their eyes. "We just talked about not doing that exact thing" Gloin pointed out.
"I mean" you said, leaning in like you were going to share a secret with them, "what we consider nice doesn't have to be nice in the eyes of the elves."
"What do you mean?" Kili asked confused.
Thorin stepped in. "That is a great idea (y/n). Do you have something in mind?" The king's eyes were glowing with misschief. The sight was something unnusual.
Everyone gathered around as you laid out your plan.
"That is great (y/n). That can't go wrong" Nori said with a gleam in his eyes.
"Isn't that wrong?" Bilbo asked. He had grown quite fond of the elves and he didn't want to offend them.
Dwalin chuckled. "No master Baggins. This is considered polite amongst dwarves."
You all turned around to go to work. It just had to work.
Bilbo was left wondering what Dwalin meant.
"So we want to show your our thanks by playing some music for you, my lord Elrond" you finished your speach. Thorin had given you permission to thank the elves. He couldn't get those words over his lips.
Bilbo and Ori had performed a poem they had written together. The elves had been touched.
Bombur had baked them some cake. Which the elves thought was strange but didn't dislike in the slightest.
Bofur had wanted to start singing again. Oddly, the elves took all the food away before he started.
And now it was your turn.
Dwalin, Nori, Bifur, Gloin and you were standing on stage with your instruments. All the dwarves were smiling. None of them tried to hide the fact that this was going to be magical. At least in their eyes.
"Are we ready?" you shouted. The dwarves answered in loud yells and pumping their fists in the air.
That should have given the elves a clue.
You raised your hand in the air before you brought it back to your guitar.
The looks on the elves' faces were great. It was everything you had hoped for.
They tried to conceal their disgust but they simply couldn't. Many of them left while covering their ears.
You couldn't help it that they disliked your taste in music. They liked classic music and you liked metal. How weird that they were running away.
It could be considered to be an insult if you were honest.
All the dwarves were jumping around, feasting as they had the place almost completely to themselves.
Elrond and Lindir remained in the room with them. The elven king knew that the dwarves wouldn't take to it kindly if he were to leave. This was a gift from the dwarves to the elves. If they thought this was entertainment then he would accept this.
He didn't really have another option.
When you finally ended, he managed to clap a few times. His eardums were still pounding loudly. He was sure he would wake up the next morning, unable to hear a thing.
"That was-" Elrond thought about it for a moment. "Interesting."
You smiled proudly. "This is the music that our kind prefers my king. I hope it was to your liking."
Elrond showed you a polite smile.
Gandalf, on the other hand, was displeased to say the least. He had hoped that you would behave a little better then you had.
What did he expect from dwarves, forced to stay with elves? He didn't have a reason to complain.
Not after the fountain incident from the day before.
And especially not after all the wine the company drank in that one day.
