Imagine Fili as a leprechaun look-a-like

This imagine was also requested by the amazing lunawolf8074 ; Imagine the reader is about to get married to one of the dwarves. They go to meet her mother but the dwarf is dressed in all green. She declares he is a leprechaun and starts chasing him screaming for him to hand over his pot of gold.

You try not to snicker as Fili comes out of your dressing room. "Please tell me that this is a joke" you say.

Fili holds open his green cardigan as a way of showing you that literally everything is green. "I don't understand what the problem is. It is the way of my people to show your mother that I am serious about us" he explained, pouting afterwards.

"Dwarves dress up as leprechauns to show their love?" you say, holding back other comments. You rush over to him to cup his face. "I bet my mother can tell you love me if I show her the ring you gave me."

The diamond sparkled in the candle light as you held your hand up.

Fili took your hand in his and brought it to his lips. "And I will continue to show you for the rest of our shared live together."

You were lost in each other' eyes. This man would never stop loving you and neither would you stop loving him. He always knew how to hit you right at the heart strings. Taking your heart and locking it somewhere out of your reach.

"Shall we get on our way? Dale is close by but we still have to go the stables" Fili said, already holding the door open for you.

"We shall. My mom will not give you permission to wed me if we are late" you said jokingly.

Suddenly, without a warning, you were swept up off your feet. "Fili!" you squealed excitedly. He ran through the halls with you in his arms. Dwarves had to jump out of the way left and right.

"I shall carry you then. I will never take the risk of losing you."

The smell of horse poop, sweat and hay welcomed you in the stables near the entrance of the mountain. You put a hand over your mouth and nose. "Please tell me the horses are ready to go" you said as you were gently put back down.

Fili smiled. "Of course, my love. We have no time to waste."

He lifted you up on the horse, far to the head so that he could sit behind you.

"You do realize I can ride a horse by myself?" you said, giggling afterwards when he literally wasted no time and immediately took off with you.

His laugh send butterflies down to your stomache. "Sorry love, I didn't quite catch that" he said in his charming voice. At times like these, when his people weren't there to watch, he would let go of his royal facade.

Showing a small part of the young dwarf inside.

You loved those small moments when you were there to witness it. Lately even Kili wasn't able to lighten his brother up.

Now that Erebor was re-taken, he had more duties than ever. The mountain needed to be rebuilt so that the people who returned had a home to come back to.

The kitchen needed to get rid of all the dragon dung that was still laying there. It was stinking up the whole mountain. If you paid attention to it, you could smell it from the moment you set a foot inside Erebor.

Not a scent you wanted to welcome anyone with.

Perhaps orcs but they wouldn't be welcome in the first place. So forget that you read that. Don't go scrolling up now because that would ruin these sentences.

Anyway, on with the story. Dale was rising up at the horizon. It was very convenient while at the same time it could be a bit of a nuisance.

Your mother still lived there and a part of you was glad that you didn't live with her anymore. The last few years hadn't been fun for either of you. There was not a bad thing you would say about her but she could be a little bit loud...

And maybe she was pretty tight on her money...

At times she could whine a little too much for your age...

And then that one time at the baker... I digress.

Yes, she could be a little bit of a pain every now and then but then again, which mom isn't? She would make you feel uncomfortable at unwanted times but that is why you loved her.

Or at least, the reason why you should love her. Because she cares an awful lot about you.

And you cared for her the same way that you probably made her feel uncomfortable as well. Maybe dressing up as an orc that one birthday party wasn't the brightest idea you had ever had...

"What do you think your mom is going to say?"

You were roughly awakened from your daydreams. Now that you were looking around, you noticed that you were going much slower than you had at the beginning. "Are you alright, my love?" you asked gently.

Fili nodded though you didn't face him. "Aye, it is just that..." He sighed. "I really want to marry you, you see? What if she says no?"

You put your hand on his right one that was holding on to the reins. "She will love you Fili. If anything I have to be aware that she doesn't steal you from me" you said, trying to comfort him.

The young prince straightened his back behind you. "I will show her what a great catch I am!" he said proudly. He sped up again now that his ego had gotten the boost it so desperately needed. "(Y/N)'s mom, here I come!"

You chuckled. This was the sweet prince you would spend the rest of your life with.

Once you reached your destination, the horse was tied up to a tree. Fili nervously grabbed your hand, taking a deep breath. "We can do this."

You looked at him from the side, keeping a serious face. To you this didn't mean a whole lot. You were sure your mom would love him. There was no doubt in your mind that she wouldn't welcome him with open arms.

What you didn't expect was this;

As you walked up to the house, the door swung open and your mother appeared with a rolling pin in her hand. You were about to greet her when she runned out with the item raised above her head.

"Give me your pot of gold you lucky bastard!" she screamed. "Good job (y/n)! Next time, chain him up before you bring him home!" she squealed excitedly.

"Wait, what?" You looked on in bewilderment as your mother started chasing your fiancé with a rolling pin. You had to blink a couple of times before it sank in. "Oh sweet lord" you moaned, desperate.

"Mom!" you shouted.

"Does she not like me?" Fili asked as he ran by. His eyes were filled with fear.

You hid your face with your left hand. Why did this have to happen to you? "Mom, he is not a leprechaun!" you tried. To no avail.

"GIVE ME YOUR GOLD! YOU'VE GOT ENOUGH OF IT!" your mother yelled.

"You can have all the gold you want for your daughter! We have diamonds too!" Fili shouted back.

"GIVE ME EVERYTHING!"

"BUT THEN WE WILL GO BROKE!"

"THEN MAKE ANOTHER RAINBOW!"

"WHAT?"

"A RAINBOW!"

"OH THAT! WE DON'T ACTUALLY DO THAT!"

Were they seriously having a conversation while still shouting? You sat down on the wooden bench that sat in front of your mom's house. "The both of them will be the end of me. A lethal combination, that is what they are."

"WHAT DO YOU DO THEN?"

"I AM HERE TO ASK YOU FOR THE HAND OF YOUR DAUGHTER!" Fili stops running, putting his hands in the air. "I wish to wed her." He puffs, trying to catch his breath.

Your mom still holds her rolling pin up high, but stops running as well. "Marry my daughter?" She points the rolling pin at him as she turns her head to you. "You want to marry a leprechaun? Now I get that you want to some gold but to marry a leprechaun?"

She puts the rolling pin away in her apron. "Well, you have my blessing. You can come back home when the rainbow runs out."

She claps you on your back. "How have you been doing my sweet?"

"Rather good mom, until you started chasing my fiancé." You followed her inside, signaling for Fili to follow.

Your mom waved your comment away. "What has been done is forgotten. I can't even remember what you are talking about."

"I sure can" Fili mumbles.
