Imagine falling into the river in Mirkwood

Another imagine from imaginexhobbit: Imagine falling into the river in Mirkwood and falling into a deep sleep like Bombur did in the book/movie. While you're sleeping, Fili insists on watching over you.

"Stay in the boat" Thorin had said.

"Go in with Fili so you are safe" Thorin had said.

"No foolish actions this time (y/n)"  Thorin had said. The whole company had nodded in agreement.

"WHAT DID I TELL YOU!" Thorin had yelled as you tried jumping out of the boat and instead you fell in the river.

"Why did (y/n) jump out of the boat anyway?" Kili asked. Together with his brother, Dwalin, Nori and Dori, he carried you through the forest because you were fast asleep.

They had tried a lot of things to wake you up but to no avail. Thorin had enough at some point and ordered them to carry you. There was no time to waste.

Nori huffed in annoyance. "Does it matter? All I know is that we are moving slower because of (y/n)."

"Just keep walking" Dwalin growled from the back of the line.

The forest was taking a toll on everyone. It just didn't seem to have an end. If only the eagles could have dropped them off a bit further...

"I think (y/n) jumped because she didn't trust the water. She could have made it" Fili said in your defence. He was getting quite annoyed at everyone who kept blaming you for falling in. Maybe it wasn't the best decision you had ever made but at least you felt confident about your own abilities.

"Thanks to her we have to carry her through this magical forest" Kili groaned.

"Why am I walking backwards?" Bombur suddenly asked. He had stopped walking, staring at his feet in disbelief.

The dwarves who carried you tried to move past him but he was blocking the road.

"Move out of the way" Dwalin growled. It didn't have the effect he wanted.

Bombur looked up at him with a crazed look in his eyes. "What did you say?" he asked in a dangerously low voice.

Dwalin let go of you, Dori quickly put his other hand on your other shoulder as well. "Do you have a problem?" Dwalin asked, puffing out his chest.

They were almost standing chest to chest. Bombur was bigger then Dwalin and almost equally terrifying now.

"Stop it! This cursed forest clouds our minds. Bombur, to the front of the line!" Thorin intervened before any harm could be done.

With a low growl, the two dwarves separated.

Thorin watched his company as he held on to a tree. His legs felt like jelly, almost ready to cave in. The others didn't look much better. Even the always-cheerful Bifur now looked like he could hit anybody who crossed him.

"Maybe it is a good idea to rest. We are all tired" a little voice behind Thorin said.

But when he turned around, there was no one to be seen. Had the hobbit just talked to him? Where was he... Thorin looked around.

There were three Bilbo's standing in front of him. All had a worried expression on their face.

"That is a good idea master Baggins. Everybody! We will rest here! Stay together! Don't wander off!" Thorin ordered.

There was a sigh of relief as all dwarves laid down on the ground. No one cared where they laid down. Everything was better then to continue walking.

At least Fili, Kili, Dori and Dwalin had the decency to slowly lower you to the ground. Nori had let go of you as soon as Thorin said they could rest.

Dwalin went to stay close to Thorin, to watch over his king. He still wore an angry glare but managed to control himself. He muttered something to Thorin who nodded in return.

Fili put one of his bags beneath your head so that you could lay a little more comfortable. He checked your pulse. Everthing was still alright. You were breathing and your heartbeat was steady.

"Do you think she will wake up again?" Kili asked as he laid down himself. The young dwarf was tired, Fili could tell

The blonde brother didn't look up at his brother as he answered. He didn't want to risk missing something so he kept his eyes on you. "She will, brother, just give her  time."

Fili settled down beside you. He didn't want to go asleep although his body was telling him to. Someone had to watch over you. He wasn't going to lose you now.

"Fili, go to sleep."

The blonde looked up to see his uncle's glazed stare. Even he was going to fall asleep soon.

Fili shook his head. "Someone has to stay on watch. I will do it" he said, his voice determined.

Thorin wanted to argue but knew that he didn't have the energy for it. He just nodded, giving in to his sister-son' wishes. Soon, he himself fell asleep.

Loud snores arose in the forest as the dwarves fell asleep. Fili would later argue that Bilbo snored the loudest. The hobbit would then countered that Fili was under the spell of the forest as well, so he couldn't know for sure if what he heard was true.

It made Fili feel calm to watch your sleeping face. His eyes were trying to close, luring him into a deep slumber. But when he looked at you he knew he couldn't risk it. He had to be strong.

At some point he would become a king just like his uncle. Now was one of the times he needed to show his strength. Show you that he could protect you like a good suitor would.

It didn't matter to him that you weren't courting. Not yet, anyway.

That would all change soon. The day you left this forest would be the day he would ask your permission to court you. No matter what anybody else thought of it.

Fili laid a hand on your hair, softly stroking it. He would do anything in his power to make sure you became his one day.
