Imagine comparing notes with Ori
Imagine from imaginexhobbit: Imagine Ori and you comparing notes and drawings together on the journey to the Lonely Mountain.
"(Y/N)? Do you have a moment?" Ori asked. The young dwarf held his journal close to his body. His grip was tight.
You nodded. "Of course Ori." You followed the dwarf a little away from camp. Not too far since you could already feel Dori's eyes burning in your back.
Ori pointed to his sleeping roll. "I would like to show you something" he said, sitting down beside you.
You gave him a comforting smile. "That sounds great Ori. What do you want to show me?"
The young dwarf hadn't opened his journal yet. His hands laid on it like he wasn't sure if he wanted to show you what was in it. You also had a journal with you. Both of you joined the company to log everything that happened on the journey.
Thorin wanted both of you because you were both great at a different aspect.
Your drawings were amazing. Ori's descriptions were very detailed. A perfect team.
The only thing was that neither of you knew why the other was also hired. You didn't know each other before this journey so you didn't know the strong points of the other.
You didn't see him as competition. It was more out of curiosity that you had looked through his journal once. Maybe twice. Alright, admitted, maybe every single day.
"I-I was just curious to see... Would you let me... That is, if you want to. Don't feel pressured. But can I... May I..." Ori tried to ask you something but it didn't go that well.
You leaned towards your bag to grab your journal. "Of course you may look at my drawings" you said. It wasn't hard to understand what he wanted. To be honest, you had been wanting to share your journal with him for a while now. It was interesting to see what he would say.
Ori took your journal with shaking hands. He quickly gave you his.
Without another word, you went through every page of each other's books. You had seen Ori's book before but now you could take your sweet, sweet time.
Hours passed. Occassionally you could hear Ori humm but no other sound left his mouth. So you kept silent too.
Finally, after dinner, you were both done. You gave the journal back to Ori and he gave you yours.
He was waiting impatiently before you would break the silence. His hands were a little sweaty.
"Your notes are incredible Ori. Your descriptions are flawless and contain so much detail." You let your hand glide over the cover. "I wish I had that talent too. Everything you write, it comes to life in front of my eyes. That is an amazing gift Ori."
Ori was positively blushing. "Thank you so much (y/n). That means a lot to me." He looked down at his hands. "I can help you with your notes, if you would like that" he offered with a shy smile.
You hugged him excitedly. "That would be wonderful Ori, thank you so much."
What you couldn't see was that Dori's eyes widened in shock when he saw the hug. Nori was able to convince him there was nothing happening. You were safe for now.
"Will you, in return, teach me some of your drawing skills?" Ori asked. "Some of your drawings didn't even look like drawings. It was like I was looking back in the past. Like I could see everything happening again. How did you add so many details to the Stone Giants? We only saw them in a flash."
His young, admiring eyes looked at you eagerly.
You giggled. "My eyes is drawn to details. Especially when I know they can disappear as quickly as they arrived."
Ori nodded with a humm. "And, I also noticed something else about your drawings" he said.
"Oh? What was that?" you asked curious. More compliments were more then welcome.
"You... he caught your eye a while ago, didn't he?" Ori asked.
Your mouth dropped open. Your cheeks heated up.
"I didn't mean to embarass you. It was just something that wasn't that hard to spot" Ori quickly added. "The drawings, again, are beautiful. You really managed to catch another side of him" he said with a smile.
Subtly, your eyes went to the dwarf you fancied from the start of the quest. You cleared your throat.
"I do believe that he likes you a lot too" Ori said.
"Well then" you said, changing the topic, "what about the dwarf you fancy?"
Ori looked at you with a shocked expression "E-excuse me?" he stammered.
You nudged him with your elbow. "Come on. Your notes were pretty obvious. For how long have you had a crush on him now?"
His eyes glanced over to his dwarf. "I- A few years now. He doesn't know" he said.
You followed his eyes to the other side of camp. There, the dwarf of his affections had been staring at him all day now. "I think he does feel the same way. Even if he doesn't know about yours" you said.
Ori's head shot up. "You think so?" he asked excitedly.
You nodded. "Absolutely. He can't take his eyes off of you."
Ori's eyes were gleaming. "Maybe it would help if I showed him my journal?"
You were surprised by his sudden bluntness. "Aye, you should definitely do that."
He didn't wait another moment and almost ran to the other side of camp. You smiled as you watched him go. You could learn something from him, other then his notes.
"(Y/N)? Excuse my bluntness but you are not... You are courting Ori, right?"
Your cheeks turned red again. The dwarves of your dreams was standing beside you. "N-no" you answered.
He nodded, also watching Ori running through camp. "So, it would be possible for someone else to court you?" His eyes didn't meet yours. You were pretty sure he was trying to avoid your eyes.
"Aye, they would only need to ask."
He nodded. "I will see you around" he said and walked away.
With a sigh you let yourself fall down to the ground. Why did dwarves have to be so impossible?
