Imagine ... has been smitten with you - Haldir

~ Thank you for replying and telling me which character from Middle Earth should be featured in these imagines. I have listened to all the comments so far and I will write a story about all the characters that you guys mentioned. And because I've never written one about Haldir yet, I will start with him first :-)

Lately I haven't been able to receive Wattpad e-mails to tell me when someone has send me a private message or commented on one of my books, so I'm sorry if I haven't responded to a comment yet!

This story is based on an imagine from imaginexhobbit: Imagine finding out the person you have feelings for has been smitten with you since the start. Let's start with Haldir people! I will write more stories based on this imagine with different characters in the next few days! ~

Gimli was walking in front of you and the four hobbits. You had just entered a forest and you still hadn't decided if the vibe was a good or a bad one. The trees were beautiful and mysterious, but maybe a bit to magical. The light from the sun did get into the woods, you were thankful for being able to see where you walked. Aragorn and Legolas walked in front, a little ahead of the rest. Gimli motioned for the hobbits to walk closer to him, explaining that there lived great sorcerer's in these woods.

You snickered and rolled your eyes. Gimli turned around and shot you an angry look. 'What's so funny?' he growled. 'Nothing. Just the fact that the sorcerer you talk about is an elf, so of course you have nothing good to say about them.' Gimli huffed and straightened his back. 'Sorcery is unnatural, especially with elves involved.' You noticed a small smile creeping it's way up to Legolas' mouth. 'If you say so, master dwarf' you said sarcastically. The dwarf hold his axe close to him, ready to hit any enemies he might spot.

You shook your head and continued forwards. Gimli should consider himself a lucky dwarf, if you would have been the only elf in this company you may have left already. Legolas kept you from walking away from this important quest. You still couldn't believe that there was a slim change you may actually defeat Sauron. Many months ago you had given up hope, but the Ring of Power gave you back some hope. Frodo looked around, bewildered, and it captured your attention. You looked around as well but you couldn't see what he was scared about.

'Master Frodo?' Sam asked since Frodo had stopped walking. He just shot him a small smile and followed the dwarf further into the forest. There was something odd about Frodo's behaviour, maybe it was the ring who played tricks on his mind, you wondered. 'I have the eyes of a hawk and the ears of a fox' Gimli stated. You contained your laughter and concentrated on the sound of footsteps approaching the company. And that's when multiple arrows were pointed at your faces.

A medium sized, blond haired elf stepped forward and you felt your mouth drop. Never in your long live had you seen anyone so... so beautiful. His eyes were a beautiful shade of blue like you had never seen before. Instantly you felt your cheeks heating up and you looked down to keep this to yourself. 'The dwarf breaths so loud we could have shot him in the dark' the elf said in a deep voice. You noticed goose bumps forming on your arms, just from his voice. You couldn't let this happen, only bad things could come from this.

The elves brought you to some kind of platform up in the trees. You learned that the elves name was Haldir. His blue eyes seemed to follow you wherever you went, and you had to admit you kind of liked it. When you almost stumbled over a fallen tree he caught your arm and pulled you back up. Since then you hadn't had the nerve to look him straight in the eyes. Elves never stumbled, accept you.

Unfortunately the company had to keep moving and couldn't spend many days in the forest. You hadn't want to say goodbye to the elves, especially not to Haldir, but it was time to move on. And time had brought you to Helm's Deep. You were standing inside with Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas when you heard the sound of a horn. But there was something different about the sound than you had expected. 'That is no orc horn' Legolas said and moved towards the entrance. Quickly you followed closely behind him, hoping that he would be here.

You felt your heart racing and you couldn't wait to see who the horn belonged to. An army of elves walked through the gates and for once since a long time did you feel hope again. Haldir lead the elves and your heart skipped a beat. He wore a beautiful red coat over his armour. Your eyes locked and you noticed his shoulders relaxing when he saw you. They were here to help fighting the orcs, the alliance between elves and men would be restored. Aragorn was first to greet Haldir and hugged him.

Haldir seemed to be surprised but hugged him back. His eyes fell on you and your cheeks heated up. He came closer to you but kept a respectable distance between you. 'I'm glad to see you're still alive' he said, his voice only slightly unsteady. You smiled at him and nodded your head. 'I can say the same about you.' There was an unexpected tension between the two of you but you didn't get the chance to change it. 'We must go up, the orcs are coming closer' Legolas said and everybody followed him.

Once you got a good look off the approaching orcs you knew that it wouldn't take long before you would all risk your life. You shot your arrows together with Haldir but soon you were forced to fight with your sword. There were a lot of orcs and you almost lost count of them when you got surrounded by a four of them. Somehow you had gotten separated from Haldir, who was now standing a few feet away from you. He looked around frantically, looking for you. When he find you he tried to walk towards you, to fight by your side.

That's when you noticed the orc raising his axe behind him. 'HALDIR!' you shouted and pointed behind him. You had to dodge a sword and swung around to chop the orcs head off. When you looked back Haldir had fallen to his knees, his eyes in disbelief. He raised his left hand and pointed at you. Quickly you ran to him and dropped to your knees as well. 'Haldir? Talk to me' you said desperately. But he said nothing, he just looked at you with his deep blue eyes. With one hand you cupped his face while your other hand meant to stroke the back of his head. And that's when you knew he couldn't be saved.

The orc had hit him in the back of the head, blood was flowing from his wound. Aragorn had made his way up and fought the orcs off. You tried to support Haldir, you wanted to get him back inside, away from the orcs. '(Y/N)! He's dying. There's nothing we can do' Aragorn said, looking back over his shoulder. Tears were streaming down your face but Haldir smiled at you. 'You must know that I have always loved you' he spoke softly before his eyes turned live less and he collapsed against you.
