Imagine ... has been smitten with you - Aragorn
~ Based on this imagine from imaginexhobbit: Imagine finding out the person you have feelings for has been smitten with you since the start. Now it's Aragorn's time, Bard will come next and he is the final one. But Bard's imagine won't be up until tomorrow. After that I will write other imagines again. This time for real :P ~
When you grew up in Rivendel, together with Estel, you could never imagine how your friendship would develop. Of course you had felt the butterflies at a very young age, but around that time you didn't know what it meant. You spend many hours playing together in the elven city, building treehouses and learning how to fight with swords. But the grown-ups had always acted weird around Estel, like there was something they weren't telling him. And finally, you found out what it was when Estel turned twenty. He only found out on accident.
Elrond and another elf were talking about Estel, but calling him by another name, Aragorn. He had stepped forward, making his presence known, and demanded an explanation. Elrond had sighed and told Aragorn the real story. Shortly after he disappeared without telling you he would leave you. It was nothing like him to do that, but Elrond told you not to worry. He would be fine. Often had you wandered on the borders of Rivendel, hoping to catch a glimpse of your lost friend. But you never got a sign.

Gandalf came to visit you many years later, asking for your help in a quest. There were two young hobbits who needed help on their way to Rivendel. They wouldn't survive the trip on their own, you had to guard them. Of course you said yes, even though Elrond wasn't to happy about it. But he couldn't deny the fact that two little hobbits would need help to come to him. Especially if Gandalf was involved. So a few hours later you sat on your horse, on your way to the Shire. You were still hoping you might catch a glimpse of Aragorn. He had left you suddenly and you were still waiting for an explanation.
Maybe he had died, but you wouldn't believe it. Aragorn had always been better at sword fighting then you. There was just no way he could have died. But on the other hand, it was nothing like him to not let you know about his plans. And yet he had left you. When you had reached the Shire you learned that the two hobbits were already on their way. You rolled your eyes and asked in which direction they left. But no one seemed to know that they had left in the first place. 'Great, that wizard can send me on a quest but not give me any specifics or let the other members know they have to wait for the third member' you mumbled.
You made your way back through fields, keeping your eyes open for two hobbits who would have probably lost their way by now. But you didn't find them until it was dark and you could barely see ahead. You duck just in time so you weren't spot by a dark hooded figure in the distance. There was something evil about him, you just couldn't put your finger on it. That's when you spotted four small figures hiding behind a fallen tree and you narrowed your eyes. Were that the hobbits you were supposed to protect?
The hooded figure disappeared and you made your way towards the four smaller figures. They were talking together, now you were sure they were hobbits. You walked up behind them before placing a hand on one of their shoulders. 'I believe I'm supposed to help you to get to Rivendel' you spoke. The four figures jumped up and looked terrified at you. Yes, these were the hobbits indeed. 'Who are you?' the black haired hobbit asked. 'My name is (y/n). Gandalf the Grey has send me to protect you on your way to Rivendel. If I may suggest, we should get inside, it's not safe in the dark.' The four hobbits looked at each other before two of them shrugged.
'(Y/N) seems nice. Where shall we go?' one of the hobbits asked. You smiled and guided them to the Prancing Pony. You were supposed to meet Gandalf there. The small company walked in and sat down at a table while you kept your eyes open to see where Gandalf was. You stood behind the hobbits, not wanting to sit down as you noticed many eyes looking twice at the hobbits. You got the hobbits some food and drinks. They seemed happy to be able to eat something again. Merry and Pippin seemed very excited about the idea of pints, and you let them.
After a while you noticed a hooded man sitting in the corner, watching the black haired hobbit's every move. The hobbit who had introduced himself as Sam elbowed the black haired hobbit. He had noticed it as well. 'Oh, we haven't introduced our last member to you, now have we?' Merry asked. 'My name is Frodo' Frodo muttered while playing with a ring in his hands. You bowed your head at him and looked in the direction of the hooded man once more. 'Baggins? That's a Baggins!' Peppin said while talking to the man around the bar. Frodo got up and ran towards him. You weren't paying attention so you noticed it too late.
Frodo fell and you saw the ring flying out of his hands. When it landed it was like magic drew it towards his finger. And when it landed Frodo had disappeared. You made your way towards the space where he had disappeared. The hooded guy had got up as well and you found he was quicker then you. But the man walked towards another spot then where Frodo had disappeared. Suddenly Frodo re-appeared, close to the hooded guy and he pulled him up by his sleeve. He dragged Frodo upstairs and pushed him into a room. You pulled your dagger from beneath your clothes and followed them.
When you rushed in the room to see if Frodo was alright your free hand was pulled behind your back and your own dagger was placed on your throat. 'After all these years you still don't know how to be silent when you approach your pray (y/n)' a dark voice spoke close to your ear. The man released you and when you turned around you were faced with a familiar smile. 'Aragorn?' you asked and the man smiled in reply. He outstretched his arms and wasn't ready for the slap he received on his cheek. 'WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? FIRST YOU DISAPPEAR WITHOUT LETTING ME KNOW ANYTHING, AND THEN YOU DECIDE TO KIDNAP A HOBBIT?!' you yelled at him.
'I would suggest you keep your voice down. The young hobbit behind you has already caused a scene downstairs, we don't need more attention' Aragorn said.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The three other hobbits had charged in soon after and were also greeted by Aragorn. You sat in the corner of the room, your arms crossed and looking angry at your long lost friend. It didn't matter that he was right, he still hadn't apologized for disappearing for all those years ago. You had made your way to another house, across from the Prancing Pony, so that the hobbits were able to catch some sleep. Aragorn sat down on the chair next to the window and smiled at you. 'I'm truly sorry I have left you all those years ago without giving you any warning' he apologized. You huffed.
'You could have send me a note you know. Just to let me know you were still alive' you said, barely controlling yourself. Frankly you wanted to start crying and throw yourself in his arms but he had lost your trust a long time ago. Aragorn looked down at the ground beneath his feet before continuing. 'I may not have made my presence known, but I've always kept a watchful eye over you' he spoke softly. Your eyes widened and you looked at him in shock. 'If you were so close by, how come you've never dropped by to let me know you were safe? You know, I was worried for your safety. Because other then you I actually cared about you' you shot back and got up from your chair.
You turned away from him and watched the hobbits sleep in the bed. It was a wonder you hadn't awoken them with your shouting. You heard Aragorn getting up and standing right behind you. 'I know you were worried about my safety, just like I was worried about yours' he said. You turned around to face him and found his eyes, they seemed sincere when he spoke. 'I've always cared about you. Just not in the way you cared about me. For me there was always more, but I could never ask you to think of me that way.'
You leaned forward and kissed him violently, making sure he knew in which way you wanted him. He grabbed the back of your hair and deepened the kiss as you moaned into his mouth. Sam stirred in his sleep and Aragorn pulled back. 'Maybe you did feel the same' he chuckled.
