Imagine Fili getting wounded in battle

~ This imagine was requested, I hope you'll like it! This drabble is based on an imagine from imaginexhobbit: Imagine Fili getting wounded in battle and being afraid you will lose him so you finally tell him that you love him. ~

The Battle had been horrible. Many dwarfs, elves, men and orc's lay dead on the ground beneath your feet. The sound of screams and people crying still rang in your ears. You couldn't believe that there had been a battle over a stone. It was nothing more then that, it was just a stone. However you knew that it meant so much more to the dwarfs. It was a symbol for their glorious days before Smaug. And a reason reclaim their mountain.

But if it wasn't for that stone, your friends wouldn't have been in danger. You had cursed the Arkenstone many times, just as Thorin's gold sickness. He hadn't been himself any more. His eyes had darkened and even his nephews questioned his judgment at the end. Fili... You didn't know where they were, if they were alright. You had promised Fili to stay inside the mountain until the battle was over. He had followed Thorin outside, his faith unknown to you.

It wasn't until the noise had faded and not until Bilbo came looking for you, that you had dared to look outside. At first you couldn't believe your eyes. And then all hope disappeared from your heart. There was no way that your One could have survived. But yet here you were on the battle ground. Desperately turning every body around to see if it was your prince. '(Y/N)!' you heard Bilbo scream behind you.

'(Y/N)! They found him! Oin is taking care of him!' he yelled at you. Quickly you followed the hobbit's lead, a small spark of hope claiming your heart once more. Fili was... is, a great fighter, and he had many weapons to protect himself, you told yourself. You entered a small camp near the mountain, many people were bandaged and laid down on make shift beds. Bilbo led you to a small tent at the back of camp.

It felt like ages before you finally reached it but finally you were there, bursting in only to find your prince non-responsive. Oin was treating to his wounds and looked up when you entered the tent. 'It's great to see you are alright lass' he said with a thick voice. You nodded, barely keeping your own emotions from taking over. 'Are you alright Oin?' you asked while sitting down beside Fili. Gently you took his hand in yours and instantly you felt how cold they were.

'I'm alright, thank you. I'm sorry to say Fili here isn't doing so well' he spoke softly. You felt tears stinging in your eyes, but you kept them from falling. 'I'm not sure if he will make it through the night. But if he does wake up tonight, changes are that he will survive' said Oin. You heard him talking to you, but you didn't catch the words he spoke. He sighed and retreated from the tent to give you some time alone with Fili, to give you the chance to say goodbye.

For a few minutes you just stared at his face and you thought back to the moment you two met. He had seem so careless and young, especially with Kili next to him. But there was something else in his eyes, something that captured your attention. You didn't know what it was until you were separated in the Mirkwood cells. Before you had told yourself that you would never fall in love. That was until you met the blond dwarf.

During the journey you had never told him what you felt. You thought that Fili felt the same way, but there were times when you doubted your judgment and got cold feet. And know it could be to late. 'If you only knew how I truly feel about you' you muttered. A tear rolled down from the corner of your eye, leaving a trail on your cheek as it went down. And just for a minute you convinced yourself that you saw his chest rising faster then before.

But Oin had just told you that it wasn't likely that he would make it through the night. You had made a mistake, that was all it was. 'You know I hate you for doing this to me? You promised me you would be alright and unharmed when you left me in that bloody mountain! I should have been there for you, fighting by your side. Maybe you would have been alive if I had come.... If I had only been there...' you said and more tears formed in your eyes.

For a moment you could feel a squeeze in your hand, but if you felt it, you just ignored it and continued. 'You are the most stubborn dwarf I've ever met, you know? And I have met Thorin Oakenshield, so that says a lot! Who is so stupid to run after a gold sick dwarf, which mind is clouded with the Arkenstone, without second doubting him?! Did you ever realize what you did to me when you willingly put yourself in danger like that?! And don't get me started about that bloody stone!'

You were on fire, and nothing could stop you now. The small, smug smile on Fili's lips escaped your attention. 'And you know what's worse of all? That you never noticed how much I love you' it was out before you realized what you said. When you lowered your gaze towards his eyes, you finally saw that he was staring at you. His eyes were sparkling and the smug smile was replaced by a loving one. 'I never dared to think that you might feel the same' he spoke softly.

You put your hand on your mouth and lunged forward to hug him. He grunted a little when you landed on his wounds, but he pulled you back when you tried to pull away from him. 'Don't leave azyungal' he muttered in your ear. A chill went through your spine and you buried your nose in his neck. 'I will never leave you' you promised him. Fili hummed and stroked your back. 'That's a deal. Besides, if you try to leave me I am forced to track and hunt you down. I will never let you walk away from me.'
