Imagine being Bilbo's wife

~ This one was also requested by @SociopaticSoldier ; Imagine being Bilbo's wife/girlfriend and over hearing his conversations with the dwarves and going on an adventure with them. ~

You were busy with cleaning the kitchen after Bilbo had created a mess in your small hobbit hole. You loved him dearly and he was a, somewhat, respectable hobbit, but he also knew how to create a mess. It was one of the reasons why your parents had advised you to marry another hobbit. Being the stubborn girl you always had been, Bilbo and you had gotten married a week after and were still happy with one another. You had always wanted to go on an adventure, but you had listened to your parents and settled down. You were right in the middle of cleaning a burned pan when you heard a knock on the door. Bilbo would answer it, no need to hurry. Viciously you were scrubbing the surface of the pan. Sweat was already evident on your forehead as you tried to clean the pan with all your might. You didn't know what was going on in your home.

Slowly but surely more dwarves came into Bag End and poor Bilbo didn't get the chance to warn you. So you stayed in the kitchen, assuming that whoever it was who had knocked on the door had left already. Little did you know that your whole pantry was empty by now. Bilbo tried once again to make his way towards the kitchen but was stopped in his actions when suddenly Bifur beat him to it and ran into the kitchen to start cleaning. You stood frozen in place and your mouth fell open. Bifur muttered something to you in Khuzdul and lifted you up to make space for all the dirty dishes. He put you down gently and the dwarves started their song. 'Bilbo what's happening?' you asked as you watched several plates flying through the air. 'I believe they are destroying our house dear' he answered.

You could do nothing more then look at the creatures in amazement. Immediately you could tell there was a bond between the dwarves as they worked together like they had never done anything else. Fright was also present as there were a few times where the mugs almost fell to the ground. 'Ah! (Y/N)! I have not seen you here tonight. Where were you?' Gandalf asks happily. That wizard always made it seem like horrible things were actually good times, even though you might look at it differently. 'I was cleaning the pan's while you lot apparently destroyed our house' you said in a weak voice. Gandalf chuckled. 'Nonsense. We have just changed a few things. Don't you think it is an improvement?' You couldn't believe your small, hobbit ears. 'An improvement?' you semi-shouted.

Bilbo patted your shoulder, hoping that you would calm down but you just shrugged his hand off. 'You have let these dwarves pillage our pantry, destroy some of our chairs, break a few plates and I don't want to know what that is on the carpet!' you shrieked. Gandalf's smile had almost disappeared and Bilbo just hid for cover. Once you were on a roll there would be no way stopping you. Luckily for the wizard two young dwarves stepped in just in time. 'I'm Fili' 'and I'm Kili' 'At your service!' they said in unison and bowed their head. 'You must be mister Boggins wife!' Kili said enthusiastically. 'I am' you said, a little perplexed. 'It's lovely to make your acquaintance. I'm sorry if we troubled you. We thank you for your hospitality and for your food' Fili said. 'Aye, it has been some time since we had a proper meal. Of course our uncle and mother tried their best, but it had been a while since we had such a feast' Kili joined.

Your heart broke. 'Oooooh, little ones! There's more if you're still hungry! Bilbo? Have you not given them desert yet?' you asked with a stern face to your husband. Bilbo was left dumbfounded as you prepared desert for the two young dwarves. The other dwarves introduced themselves as well and smiled heartily as you prepared them even more food. Somewhere in the middle, Thorin joined them, and you made sure they wouldn't forget him. He thanked you as you displayed several kinds of food in front of him. Bilbo had sat down at the end of the table and just looked at it all in astonishment. He didn't know what kind of secret power the two Durin brother's possessed but he had never been able to calm you down that quickly. And when would he get some food of his own?

Of course you hadn't forgotten about your hobbit husband and had prepared a special plate, just for him. He nodded his head in thanks and decided it wasn't so bad after all. You gather some dirty plates and brought them back to the kitchen to clean them. 'Have you already let him sign the contract?' Thorin asked while taking a bite of his bread. Balin shook his head as response. 'We hadn't had the time yet.' Thorin raises an eyebrow. 'You had enough time to pillage their pantry but not enough time to get the hobbit to sign the contract?' 'What contract?' Bilbo asks and the whole room turns silent.

You are still in the kitchen, just minding your own business, when you notice the dinner room is awfully quiet. Carefully, you take a few steps towards the door and place your ear against the wood. '...incineration. You know, the usual idea of a dragon' you can hear Bofur say. You frown. A dragon? 'You want me to go into a mountain, with a fire breathing dragon inside, to steal a stone?' Bilbo asks. He sounds pretty worried to you. How did the topic change from dinner to risking your life over a stone? You didn't know how, but Bilbo had managed to get himself into trouble again. 'Not just a stone. It's belongs to me and my family' Thorin said, his voice dark. You can only imagine what he looks like. When he walked in and introduced himself you already thought he was kind of dominating.

'I'm not a burglar... I think you've got the wrong hobbit' Bilbo said, and that's when you decided to step in. You swung the door open and everyone immediately looks up at you. 'I'm sorry. I couldn't help to hear what you were saying. Of course you have the right hobbit!' you said and swung an arm around Bilbo's shoulders, standing next to him. 'Puddingpie?' Bilbo said confused. You throw him a look to tell him to keep silent. 'We will join you on your quest, master dwarf.' Thorin and Balin exchange some looks. 'Lass, this contract is only for Bilbo. We wouldn't...' he starts but you quickly cut him off. 'I can handle myself just fine in the wild. I've been camping on multiple occasions and I won't be a bother to you. If, at any point, I will slow you down, feel welcome to send me back and I will take my leave' you said with determination.

Fili and Kili both had admiring looks in their eyes. They probably couldn't wait to see what their uncle would do about a stubborn woman who wasn't their mother. 'Fine, give her a contract as well' Thorin says, focusing on his soup. 'But Thorin' Dwalin starts. Thorin sends him a look and it is enough to keep Dwalin quiet. 'Thank you' you say and bow for the dwarf king. 'Are you deciding this for the two of us?' Bilbo murmurs quietly. You nod. 'It will be good for us. Finally a little excitement in our lives' you say and hand the signed contract back to Balin. 'I thought the snail-attack on my lettuce was exciting enough' Bilbo says under his breath.
