Just Passing Through (Legolas)

Legolas x reader where the reader lives in a small town that is often ravaged by bandits. Legolas is passing through and decides to help.

You knew your village had finally had enough. One more raid and there would hardly be anything left of the place you had been raised. It was time to take action and if only you decided to defend the village, then so be it.

With your father, the village blacksmith, having passed away, the job fell on you to make and fashion weapons and any other metalwork to provide for your family. The job also required for you to know how to use the items you made.

Your father's sword hung on your hip as you walked to the edge of the town where dust could be seen in the distance due to horses. You pulled your bow up and nocked an arrow, taking a deep breath as the horses and their riders grew closer.

As soon as a clear shape of a man could be seen, you let the arrow fly out of your grasp and watched in satisfaction as it planted itself in the rider, knocking him to the ground.

It seemed as if the rider's were now urging their horses to speed faster into the village. By the time you had let loose three more arrows, the rest of the bandits were already upon you.

You ducked under the swing of a sword, drawing your own as the bandits surrounded you. Your head was held high as you faced what would be your doom when an arrow embedded itself in one of the men's head. He slid off his horse and landed on the ground with a dull thump.

"Ten to one?" a voice called out and you took your chance to pull a rider off his horse while he was distracted. He was easily dispatched and you ran through the now open gap towards the new comer.

Shock and confusion were the most obvious emotions on your face. Who you had originally thought to be a man, was actually an elf with blonde hair that fell down his back. A bow was held in his hands and it was obvious he had experience with that weapon. What was an elf doing in a small village like yours?

"Maybe now I can even the odds!" the elf called to the riders who were now looking at each other nervously. They rode forward to you and the elf beside you who just let loose another one of his arrows.

You on the other hand ran towards a house, using the wall as a leverage and launch yourself at one of the riders, easily taking him down. You managed to stay on the horse and locked swords with another.

Between the two of you, the rest of the men were easily dispatched. You pushed your sweaty hair out of your face, breathing heavily. You straightened up though and looked to the elf. "Thank you," you said with a tired smile. You had never actually been in a sword fight or any fight before. You didn't think it would wear you out so much.

"Its no problem at all, my lady," the elf said and gave a small incline of his head.

"What's an elf doing in these parts anyway?" you questioned and stepped forward to hold your hand out to him to shake.

"Legolas," the elf said, introducing himself and took your hand in his, placing a small kiss on it, leaving you slightly flustered. "And I was just passing through, my lady."

"Its (y/n), not 'my lady'," you said in slight amusement.

"Well, (y/n)," Legolas said, his lips twitching up in a smile as he released your hand. "I think I'll have to pass through more often."

That was the start of a beautiful friendship.
