Unusual - Part 3 - Lindir x Reader

Lindir, with all speed, made his way to Lord Elrond's rooms. He had heard that a raven had come from Erebor, and the ellon desperately needed to know what the missive spoke of.

For elves, weeks, months, even decades and centuries seemed to pass in the blink of an eye; but since she had been gone from Imladris, it had felt as though every moment had dragged. That every single minute felt like a millennia. His dreams of the half-dwarf, half-elf princess only making things worse; and those he had had of her dying by the hands of orcs, or by dragon fire, had broken his heart. The ellon no longer the elf that he had been before he had met (Y/n); his soul, his spirit taken by his unusual dwarf. Lindir's only hope.......that the message was to tell them that not only did the Mountain belong to the dwarves once more, but that (Y/n) was safe and well, and there was a chance that he could see her again. That he would be able to tell her that he believed that she was the one that he had been made for, and that he desired nothing more than for her to return to him. Yet as he reached the door, his hand hesitated. The ellon doing his best to control the frantic thump of his heart and the shaking of his soul. Lindir feeling a sudden sense of dread; a feeling that nothing would be the same for him once he opened this door. Yet he had to know; for good or bad, he had to know. The equerry finally knocking, and slowly pushing open the door, as he heard his lord call out for him to enter.

"Lindir............" Elrond began. Lindir feeling as though he wanted nothing more than to turn and run, as he saw the look on the elven lord's face.

"The news from Erebor......it is not...........?"

"The Company of Thorin Oakenshield was able to retake the Mountain from the dragon. But a battle followed.......a battle of dwarves, elves and men, against orcs that followed Azog the Defiler. The battle was won by those that stood against darkness; yet..........yet the line of Durin is no more.........." Elrond explained, carefully placing his hand on his friend's shoulder. The lord knowing all to well the effect that the daughter of Thrór had had on Lindir. That without necessarily realising it, he had found and lost his one, in a matter of but a few short days. Elrond knowing the heartbreak of losing a kindred soul. Of losing the only one that your heart would ever desire. The lord only able to hope that his trusted right hand, would be able to survive.

"My lord........may I be excused............"

"Of course........" Elrond replied. Lindir doing his best to appear unaffected, as he bowed and made his way back to the door.

"And Lindir..........I am sorry............." The equerry merely nodding in reply, before making his way out of the room, and to the little spot where he had first spoken to his unusual dwarf.

                                                       >>---------------------------------<<

Everything had gone by in the strangest of blurs. From Goblin town to the eagles. From Beorn to Mirkwood and then Esgaroth, and finally the Mountain; everything had just seemed to happen around her, as if she were a mere shadow in the events that had unfolded. (Y/n) aware that her spirit, her soul had been left behind in Rivendell, with Lindir; it coming as no real shock when she had found herself speaking with Bilbo about the ellon and realised that he was the one that she had been made for. That despite their differences, she was his, and he was hers. It that, that had kept her fighting, that had kept her going. Lindir the only thing that she could think of, as they fought their way out of Goblin town, as she hung from a tree surrounded by fire. When she had wanted to slap the smug smirk off the elvenkings face. And when she had had to deal with not only a dragon, but also Thorin being taken by the dragon sickness, and finally the battle; the notion of seeing Lindir again the thing that had kept her alive, when the others had fallen.

"What will you do when we get there...........?" A little voice asked. (Y/n) turning her attention to the hobbit that sat next to her; while a grey wizard rested further to the side, smoking his pipe.

After the loss of Thorin, Fili and Kili, (Y/n) had decided that she could not stay in the Mountain; that it would not be the same without Thorin as king. And though the members of the Company had wanted her to take her place as Queen under the Mountain; Balin stating that as the daughter of Thrór, it would be proper for her to rule, but she could not. Thorin was the king of carven stone, the Mountain his, and then Fili's in his stead. She......she never desiring to rule, never believing she had the right; so, she had said that Dáin should be the one to become king. The princess taking a tearful leave from what remained of the loyal Company, when Bilbo and Gandalf had taken theirs. (Y/n) happy to join the pair at least as far as Rivendell. And now.......now when they woke in the morning, they would be a few short hours walk from the elven realm.

"Well.......I will speak to Lord Elrond, and hope that he will allow me to stay. But if not........Middle-earth is a big place, Bilbo; and as much as I would like to rest after everything that we have been through, I don't mind having to see a little more of it.........."

"You could always come back to the Shire with me........you could stay at Bag End and then perhaps we could find you a place of your own. You always said that you would have liked to see more of the place; and I know that everyone would welcome you............"

"You are a dear friend, Bilbo Baggins. And I cannot tell you how grateful I am for having met you; but as much as I really would love to see more of the Shire........"

"I am not Lindir..........." Bilbo interrupted, as he took her hand. (Y/n) slowly nodding. The princess only able to hope that not only would Lord Elrond be kind to her; but that Lindir would feel the same for her, as she did for him. But if not......well, then perhaps there were worse places in Middle-earth, than Bilbo's little part of it.
