Prophecies - Part 6 - Bilbo x Bofur x Reader

The day had been a much better one for (Y/n), than the one before; Bilbo always at her side, telling her more stories of the Shire, so that she would not worry about the images that had come to her the night before. Describing to her the wonders of Gandalf's famous fireworks; of the squibs, crackers, backarappers, sparklers, torches, dwarf-candles, elf-fountains, goblin-barkers and thunder-claps; along with something called 'rockets', that would speed their way up into the sky before bursting into stars of either blue or green, or a multitude of flowers that would fall to the earth, like a gentle rain. The seer wishing that she could have visions of those things; of the parties and celebrations that the hobbits would have, and of a pub called 'The Green Dragon' that supposedly served the best ale in the Shire. (Y/n) feeling that she had already learnt so much, from the little man; so much more than she would have ever learnt sitting in the temple, even if she did get glimpses of other people's lives. The seer also surprised to learn that Bilbo was much older than her. That compared to him, the dwarves and especially Gandalf, she might be seen as just a child. Even the ones called Fili and Kili were eighty-two and seventy-seven. The wizard though informing her that men, dwarf and hobbit ages were very different things, and that Bilbo and the dwarves were not as old in man years, as she might think. Through compared to them, even Bilbo, she did still feel as naïve as a child. That in contrast to the rest of them, she knew nothing of the world. Gandalf assuring her that now she was no longer a prisoner, he would happily teach her all she wanted to know. This, the first time she was really pleased that the wizard had brought her along on this little adventure.

                                                          >>---------------------------------<<

"Lass........." A hesitant voice came, as she and Bilbo sat near the fire of the camp. (Y/n) and Bilbo looking up from the game that the hobbit was teaching her, to see a hat wearing dwarf that Gandalf had told her was called Bofur. The kind looking male, seeming to blush a little when she smiled at him.

"I.......I made this for ya." He continued, as he held out something for her to take.

"Gandalf said that ya didn't have many personal things. So, I thought........." Bofur stopping, as her fingers touched his. Bilbo quickly getting up as (Y/n) when quiet. Her eyes clouding over.

"Don't move.........." Bilbo said. Bofur simply nodding, as the hobbit looked back at the seer.

"(Y/n).............?"

"There are children.......happy children in a beautiful city. They have toys.......new toys made by the dwarven toymakers, Bofur and Bifur. Toys that are wound by keys and move thanks to cogs and springs. They were good days......prosperous days......but then........."

"Then........?" Bofur interrupted. Getting a look from the hobbit, before he brought his fingers up to his lips to silence the dwarf.

"Then came the lands of the Firebeards and Broadbeams. The mountains that shone blue in the sunlight............." Bofur and Bilbo waiting expectantly for what she would say next, until a sudden raucous laugh from Glóin and Óin ruined the moment. The colour coming back to (Y/n)'s eyes, before she looked between the two males.

"I.......I'm sorry." (Y/n) said, as she carefully took the item from the shocked dwarf's hand. Bofur having no idea how she could have known about how he and his cousin would dabble in toymaking. And that their creations were the talk of the once thriving city of Dale, long before she was even born.

"Oh, a comb. It is quite lovely. Thank you so much." She continued, as she ghosted her fingers over the intricately carved creation. Sure, that she had never owned anything so pretty. Nothing that had been made especially for her.

"A lass should have a good comb. Maybe ya could let Bilbo run it through ya hair, and.........then braid it..........." Bofur smiled. Bilbo furrowing his brows, as the dwarf gave him a wink. The hobbit wiggling his nose before he turned back to look at a happy (Y/n).

"Oh, and Master Bofur........." She called out, as Bofur turned to make his way back to his spot next to his brother and cousin.

"Aye, lass...........?"

"On the land over the water, don't drink too much. You will miss the boat." (Y/n) told him. It now the dwarves turn to furrow his brows. Bofur standing there for a moment, before simply nodding. The dwarf quickly making his way back to his kin. A hushed conversation soon beginning. More and more of the Company coming to listen to what Bofur had to say; their eyes looking over to the female seer that was slowly drawing her gift through her hair. Thorin the only one not to join them; the king with his eyes closed, as he rested against the rock behind him. Yet despite his appearance, the son of Thráin was listening to every word.
