Prophecies - Part 14 - Company x Reader

Pain.......pain and darkness.......yes, that was all she had been able to see and feel. As Dwalin had run with her over his shoulder, she had heard Gandalf's voice call out, and then she had fallen; fallen from Dwalin, down a hole, only stopping as she hit the floor. Her already damaged ankle, twisting awkwardly, as she landed. The seer rolling out of the way just in time to not become the bottom of a pile of dwarves. And now, just to add insult to humiliation, Kili and Fili were doing their best to aid her through the very narrow gap between two towering rock walls, that they currently found themselves stuck between. (Y/n) doing her best to ignore the pain that shot up through her leg, with every step; sure, that if she were to faulter, Thorin would see it as a good excuse to leave her behind. And the last thing that she wanted was that; not just because she would admit that she feared being left alone, but because despite the fact that she had no idea where the path was going to lead them, she could feel something special about the place. A kind of magic that seemed to be in the air; that felt as though it were surrounding her, and she wanted to know more, to see more. To discover where Gandalf was leading them all. Her eyes growing wide and mouth falling open, as they made their way out of the crack in the rock.

"The valley of Imladris.." Gandalf announced, as the Company looked at the view before them. (Y/n) unable to take her eyes from the place; aware that she had seen it in one of her visions; but it's ethereal beauty in person, well, that was something different all together.

"In the common tongue it is known by another name......."

"Rivendell........" Bilbo said quietly. (Y/n) smiling down at the hobbit that appeared to have been as taken by the place as she was.

"Here lies the last homely house, east of the sea........" The wizard continued. (Y/n) lost for words, as the feeling of magic grew ever stronger

"This was your plan all along........" (Y/n) turning, as she heard Thorin's angry voice.

"To seek refuge with our enemy......." He continued, as he moved to stand before the grey wizard.

"You have no enemies here, Thorin Oakenshield. The only ill will in this valley, is that which you bring yourself." Gandalf countered. Bilbo and (Y/n) looking at one another, not daring to say that they believed that the wizard was right.

"Do you think the elves will give our quest their blessing......? They will try and stop us........."

"Of course they will; but we have questions that need to be answered......" Gandalf retorted. (Y/n) watching as Thorin dropped his head. It obvious that he had had to accept what the wizard was saying. Though if he spoke again, she did not hear, as Bilbo slipped his hand into hers.

"Elves, (Y/n)........I have only ever read about them in my books; how they are tall and beautiful and filled with magic. Have you.......have you ever met one.........?"

"No.......I only ever saw other people when I was held in the temple. And even though I have seen images of what I believe are elves in my visions on this journey, I am afraid I feel I know even less of what to expect than you. As I have told you, it was not until I got to the Shire, that I had the chance to meet a hobbit and dwarves. So, meeting an elf, well, that was something I never thought about........" (Y/n) suddenly letting out a squeal as she found herself lifted into the air; the seer coming face to face with Dwalin, who huffed out a quick explanation as to why he was carrying her. (Y/n) looking over the warrior's shoulder and smiling at Bilbo, as the large dwarf and the Company made their way down the steps towards Rivendell.

                                                       >>----------------------------------<<

(Y/n)'s grip on Dwalin tightened as they crossed the bridge below which was little more than rocks and what she thought was a rather fast flowing river. Up to this point, she had done her best not to move too much, sure that it would make things even more difficult for the big dwarf; thought she had to say that it was nice that he hadn't complained as he had had to carry all that way. But now, as the group passed between a pair of stone guardians, before coming to a halt in front of a long staircase, she couldn't help but want to be stood on her own. The seer feeling far happier, when Dwalin place her down, as a rather elegant and handsome male, descended the stairs before them. (Y/n) ignoring whatever Dwalin and Thorin were saying to one another as she continued to watch the dark-haired, what she believed must be one of the elves that called the wonderful place, home.

"Mithrandir..........." The elf said. (Y/n) finding herself feeling a little embarrassed; sure, that she must look a complete mess, as the elf turned his attention to her for a moment.

"Ah, Lindir......." Gandalf greeted in return. (Y/n) looking to Bilbo when he moved to her side, as the elf began to speak to the wizard in a language that neither could understand. The seer nodding as the hobbit asked her if she was alright. A little part of him wishing that he could have been the one to carry her, not Dwalin.

"I must speak with Lord Elrond........." The wizard announced. The words in Westron; drawing their attention back to the conversation

"My Lord Elrond is not here." The elf continued, as he gave her another quizzical look. The seer only able to imagine what he must have thought of a woman being in the company of a bunch of dwarves.

"Not here......? Where is he.........?" Gandalf enquired, calling back the elf's attention. The sound of a horn suddenly filling the air. All of the Company turning to see horses and their riders making their way across the bridge, at speed, to where they stood.

"Close ranks......" (Y/n) heard Thorin shout out above the sounds of the horses and their riders. The seer and Bilbo finding themselves pushed into the middle of the pack, as the dwarves surrounded them. (Y/n) wishing that she was not so much taller than the others, as the elves on horseback rode around them. And then.........then they stopped. Her eyes focusing on a dark-haired elf, as he addressed the grey wizard.

"Lord Elrond......" The wizard replied cheerily. The two continuing to speak in elvish, as the Company eyed them suspiciously. (Y/n), without thinking, finding herself trying to crouch down as the second dark haired elf looked at her, before he dismounted his horse, and embraced wizard.

"Strange for orcs to come so close to our borders.........Something.....or someone, must have drawn them near............"

"Ah. That may have been us." Gandalf explained, as he turned to look at his travelling companions. Her cheeks beginning to glow with a bright blush, as the lord caught her eye once more, and smiled warmly. His attention though soon turning to Thorin, as he came to stand at the front of the group.

"Welcome Thorin. Son of Thráin." The elven lord said in greeting.

"I do not believe that we have met." Thorin curtly countered. (Y/n) just shaking her head, at his rude response.

"You have your grandfather's bearing. I knew Thrór when he ruled under the Mountain............"

"Indeed, he made no mention of you.........." The next curt response came. The seer wishing she could say something to Thorin; that or apologise to the elf for the way the dwarf was acting. But she knew that it was not her place. Not for her to come between not only elves and dwarves, but rulers, kings too. (Y/n) though finding herself smiling as the elven lord appeared to be fighting back a smile of his own. The elf lord continuing to look at Thorin, as more elvish was spoken.

"What is he saying..........? Does he offer us insult........?" Glóin demanded to know. (Y/n) only able to shake her head.

"No, Master Glóin. He is offering you food.........." Gandalf explained. The dwarves all huddling together and muttering to one another.

"Aye, well. In that case, lead on........." Glóin said. (Y/n) letting out a sigh of relief. About to hobble after the dwarves until she looked up to see the elven lord in front of her.

"And whom might you be, my dear.........?"
