Diary - Part 1 - Fili x Kili x Reader

"(Y/n).......I didn't.........."

"Oh, yes you did, Fili Durin. If you were going to do something like this, perhaps you should have asked Nori about how to get away with it........."

"Nori......that's it. Nori must have.........."

"Don't you dare.......Don't you dare try and blame poor Nori for this. Yes, we all know what he does, but he would never do this. And anyway, he is smart enough to know not to put it back in completely the wrong place; nor to leave traces of jam smeared all over it. The gooseberry jam that your mother makes for you; that no one else eats. I can't believe you Fili.......I thought we were friends; yet you invade my privacy in the worst way possible. Mahal......I can't even look at you at the moment........I need some air........." (Y/n) told him, before storming off. The prince knowing better than to follow after her, despite wanting nothing more than to do just that. To beg her for her forgiveness and tell her why he had done it. But all he could do was fall back into his chair and drop his head into his hands. None of this going as he had intended it too.

"Fee........." The pale-haired prince, not having to look up to know that the one to call out his name, was his younger brother.

"How much did you hear..........?"

"Enough to know that (Y/n) isn't happy with you........what did you do, Fee......?" Kee continued as he took a seat, his brows furrowed as his brother slowly looked up at him.

"I.........I read her diary.........."

"You did what.......? Why would you do that? You know what her..........."

"Yes, yes, I know.......but I did it for a good reason. I..........."

"What, Fee..............?"

"I love her..........." Fili blurted out, taking his brother and even himself by surprise.

Kili knew that Fili and (Y/n) had been friends from before he was even born. That the two could always be found together, and when he was old enough to join them, it had become the three of them; and Kili had always thought of the dwarrowdam as a big sister. But even from a young age, he had been able to tell that Fili didn't think about her in that way. And Kili had even teased him about it over the years. Yet he never thought Fili would ever come out and confess it. Though why he would ruin everything and go behind (Y/n)'s back and read her diary that they both knew she would write her deepest secrets in, he couldn't think.

"Fee..........?"

"I know I shouldn't.......that it was the worst thing I could do; but I hoped it would tell me something about the pretty things that she liked........" Fili replied with a heavy sigh.

"(Y/n) has always been there, and I know more about her than probably anyone else. But we have never talked about any feminine things she likes. We talk about knives and axes and swords; we spar in the training area where she still beats me, and even Dwalin says that she should have come with us when we came to reclaim the Mountain. And that there is a reason why uncle has actually allowed her to be the first dam to become a guard. We spend evenings telling stories and laughing and just enjoying one another's company. Yet despite all that, I don't know if she has a favourite flower, or whether she likes the scent of jasmine, or roses, or......urrghhh. I only looked at her diary to see if any of that was in there; then I would know what to get her. How to make her courting beads. I wanted to ask her on Durin's Day, to be mine. I wanted to make it perfect, to show her that I really love her. But I have messed everything up. She is my One, Kee, I know it. But I will be lucky if (Y/n) even wants to talk to me again........." The older prince continued, another heavy sigh leaving his lips, before he dropped his head back into his hands.

Slowly Kili got to his feet and placed his hand on his brother's shoulder. A small smile creeping across his lips. His brother was in love, and in love with (Y/n); he knew he had teased Fili about it, but he never thought that his brother would actually confess it. The notion of the two of them together made the younger prince so happy. And given that one day Fili would be king, Kili couldn't help but think that there would be no better dam to stand by his side, than (Y/n). The Mountain needing the firm but fair hand of a warrior Queen under the Mountain. And given that their mother and uncle both liked (Y/n), that her family and the Durin's had always been side by side, he couldn't imagine that there might be a more perfect match for Fili, than the beautiful female guard. She, who along with Dwalin, guarded their uncle Thorin, himself.

"Why don't I go and speak to her.......Or maybe we could go and see uncle and tell him what happened. And mother......well, I am sure that she won't be happy with you, but I know she will go and speak to (Y/n) about it all once you explain everything. I know (Y/n) loves you too, Fee; I've seen it. I was the one that was there with you, and I have seen how she looks at you. I saw how angry she was when she arrived here, because you left her in the Blue Mountains instead of convincing uncle to let her join the Company; when she found out that you had nearly died. She didn't do that because you were friends, she did it, because she loves you. And I know she makes you happy, Fee; and I want nothing more than for you to be happy. (Y/n) just needs time to calm down, and once she does, I am sure that she will speak to you again. But just in case........" Kili explained before helping his older brother to his feet.

"Let's go and see uncle Thorin and mother.........."
