A dwarf in hobbit's clothing - Part 14 - Company x Reader

(Y/n) jumped down after the dwarves, grabbing her brother to make sure that he was alright after they had all had to run from a pack of wargs and their riders. If there was a way to start the day, this was not it. Going from having to deal with mountain trolls to strange visions; then a peculiar brown wizard who had come crashing through the undergrowth shouting about 'thieves, fire, murder' on a sled pulled by, of all things, rabbits. To then discover that not only did Thorin seem to have a price on his head and was being hunted; but given that they were all with him, the odious creatures would happily take out the rest of them too. The entire Company having to run for their lives at the sound of a warg's howl, (Y/n) pulling her long bow from her shoulders and joining Kili in bringing down as many of their pursuers as she could, only stopping when Thorin had called out for Kili and her to follow them. And now, just to put the icing on the terrible morning cake, she was at the bottom of a poorly lit hole with all the others, doing her best to make sure that poor Bilbo was in one piece, and not injured.

Suddenly there was the sound of a horn; (Y/n), along with the others, looking up at the opening of the cave as the noise rang out. The sounds of fighting, the sounds of dying filling her ears, before an orc suddenly fell to join them. Gandalf pointing his staff at the vile creature. The wizard prodding at it to make sure that it was dead.

"Elves." Thorin spat with disdain, as he pulled an arrow from the orc and looked at it. (Y/n) rolling her eyes and ignoring anything else that the dwarf might have to say, as she took the quiver from her back; annoyed to find that there were only five arrows left. The dwarrowdam not sure where she might find more to replenish her supply. Her bow of little use, if she did not have any arrows.

"(Y/n)........" A voice came. (Y/n) looking up to see her brother.

"We are following a path." He continued. (Y/n) nodding, before she got to her feet, pulling the quiver back over her shoulder, before following after Bilbo and the others.

                                                            >>----------------------------------<<

"Gandalf..........." (Y/n) said quietly, as she followed after the wizard through the narrow gap that was surrounded on both sides by high rock walls.

"Hmmmm?"

"I..........I can feel something." She continued, the wizard stopping and looking at her.

"What.........?"

"I........I don't know. It........it feels like a strange pull. Like I am being draw somewhere. Drawn.........drawn to........to home." (Y/n) explained, as she looked up at Gandalf. The old wizard placing a hand on her shoulder as he saw the confused and slightly emotional look in her eyes. Gandalf giving her a reassuring smile; sure, that when they got to the end of the path, more than one question would be answered.

"There's light ahead." Dwalin called out from the front. Gandalf giving (Y/n) a nudge to continue following the others, as Bilbo came to her side. Her brother reaching for her hand, before they quickly caught up to the rest. The way finally opening up as they came to a set of rock cut steps. The breath catching in her throat, as she and Bilbo reached the bottom of the staircase; the sight before her like nothing she had seen before.

"The valley of Imladris.." Gandalf announced. (Y/n) unable to take her eyes from the place's ethereal beauty, as she felt her heart begin to race.

"In the common tongue it is known by another name......."

"Rivendell........" Bilbo said quietly, as he squeezed his sisters hand a little tighter.

"Here lies the last homely house, east of the sea........" The wizard continued. (Y/n) lost for words, sure that Bilbo felt the same.

"This was your plan all along........" (Y/n) turning, as she heard Thorin's angry voice.

"To seek refuge with our enemy......."

"SHUT UP!" The dwarrowdam suddenly exclaimed, causing all to look at her, as she pulled away from Bilbo and turned her attention to where Thorin and Gandalf stood.

"Just shut up for once, Thorin. I do not care whether Gandalf had all this planed from the very beginning, we are here now, and if the elves can offer us assistance, then we should take it. Though if you prefer to turn around and go back to being hunted by orcs in the wild; please do, you will get no argument from me, but I will not follow. The rest of them will say nothing, because you are their kin, their king; but you are neither thing to me, so........you are a fool, Thorin Oakenshield. A blind, stubborn fool. You have let anger, bitterness, and hatred fill your heart. I will never say what the elves did when the dragon took your home was right; but they were not these elves, and if you want to reclaim the Mountain, then you are going to have to swallow that pride of yours." (Y/n) growled, as she came to stand before Thorin. The prince gripping at the handle of his axe a little tighter as she spoke.

"Now. If you will all excuse me, I have better things to do than stand here trying to make stubborn dwarves see sense." She added, before making her way back down the steps and continuing along the path. Shrugging off Bilbo's hand as she passed him; not caring what else may transpire between the males, as she left. (Y/n) only knowing that she had to make her way to this home of the elves. That she had to discover what was drawing her; what was pulling her heart to this place.
