The Emissary - Part 1 - Fili x Reader

The company stood with Gandalf in Rivendell. An ellon, and elleth slowly descending a staircase, as they and the wizard greeted one another.

"Lindir. Lady (Y/n). It is so nice to see you both again." Gandalf began. Fili not hearing another word, or noticing the fact that the horses, and men of Lord Elrond had surrounded him and the rest of the of the dwarves. The young prince too concerned with the beautiful elleth that stood staring back at him. A soft smile gracing her lips.

Fili had never seen anything like her before. Her skin and hair were as pale as moonlight. Her eyes as dark as the night sky. To Fili, she seemed to glow with an aura that set her apart from everything around her. And as he watched her converse with Gandalf and the elven Lord, he couldn't help but feel lost.

"What ya lookin at lad?" Dwalin suddenly asked. His gruff voice bringing Fili back from his thoughts. The Durin prince's heart sinking as the beautiful creature disappeared back into her home.

"Nothin." Fili replied, slightly too harshly. Causing Kili to spin around and look at his brother.

"I wasn't looking at anything. I was just.......I was just making sure that the elves didn't attack." Fili continued. Doing his best to ignore Kili's smirk.

As the others complained about the food, Fili made his way over to the other end of the table where Gandalf and Lord Elrond sat.

"Gandalf." Fili began. Feeling grateful that the others were starting to become a little too loud.

"Yes Fili. What is it?" Gandalf enquired kindly, as he turned his attention to the blonde dwarf.

"The elleth that ya called (Y/n). Who is she?" Fili asked, as both the elf lord and the wizard began to chuckle softly.

"Lady (Y/n) is the younger child of Lord Celebron, and Lady Galadriel. The sister of Lord Elrond's wife. She is an elleth of unrivalled beauty, is she not. Why do you ask?" Gandalf informed the young Durin, as he looked between Fili and Elrond.

"Can you not see. Our dear (Y/n) has cast her spell on your young friend. I am not surprised that you have been enchanted. She is quite special." Elrond told the wizard, a soft smile pulling at the corners of his lips, as he dodged yet another flying bread roll.

"If you are interested, young Durin. (Y/n) can normally be found reading in the tower next to the great waterfall." The lord added. He and Gandalf smiling as Fili disappeared without being noticed by the rest of the company.

"You would approve of such a match? And what about Lindir. I thought that he had every intention of being wed to her?" Gandalf asked, as he watched Fili's blonde locks vanish out of sight.

"(Y/n) has always been different. Always known what she wants. And I, nor her parents have ever been able to tell her what to do. I saw the way she was looking at your young prince. How he was looking at her. Love will find a way, Gandalf. It always does. It knows nothing of our differences. It only sees what it needs. And even though I know that Lindir holds a special place in (Y/n)'s heart, he is not what she needs." Elrond told his old friend. The wizard knowing that the elven lord was right, and that the Lady (Y/n) had always had a rebellious streak that you did not find in many elves.

                                                         >>--------------------------------<<

(Y/n) sat looking up into the great waterfall. The drops of water catching the light and forming a perfect rainbow that seemed to end at her feet. Normally she would be reading, lost in her own little world. Apart from all those around her. But the arrival of the company of dwarves, the halfling and Gandalf, had distracted her. The handsome blonde dwarf in particular catching her eye. She had never seen dwarves before, she knew of them of course, and even though her father had been lord of Lothlórien, and she had been born in Eregion, (Y/n) had spent many years in Rivendell, never setting eyes on the creatures that lived below the ground.

She had to admit that there was a handsome ruggedness about one or two of the company, but the blonde dwarf had caught her attention the most. He had a twinkle in his eye that drew her too him. A look that made her want to smile. And even though Elrond and Lindir wished to keep her away from the rambunctious dwarves, (Y/n) wanted to know, and see more.

Suddenly (Y/n) turned. A cough alerting her to the fact that someone else was present. Her eyes growing wide as the striking blonde dwarf moved closer to her.

"Master dwarf. Is everything alright? Are you lost? If you are looking for the rest of your company, I believe that given the current furore that they are creating, we will easily be able to find them if you need help." (Y/n) asked, as Fili moved even closer.

"No. I........I wanted to speak with you, milady. Lord Elrond said that I would be able to find ya ere. And my name is Fili." Fili replied with a deep bow, before taking a seat next to the exquisite elf.

"And why would you wish to speak to me, Master Fili? It appears evident that the rest of your company are not overly fond of my kind. Though given what Elrond has told me, I can well appreciate why. So, what would make you wish to seek me out?" (Y/n) enquired, her breath catching in her throat as Fili took hold of her hand.

"Because........because you are tha most beautiful thing that I have seen. And I know that I'm a dwarf, and you're an elf, but I'd like ta get ta know ya better." Fili confessed. His heart almost beating out of his chest as (Y/n) smiled at him.

"Well, Master Fili. That is quite a confession. And I find that I myself have something to confess. And that is that I would like to get to know you too. I do not see the fact that you and I are different should prevent us from becoming better acquainted while you remain here. And if you would like, we can begin now." (Y/n) replied. Fili moving a little closer to the enchanting elf as they began to speak.

                                                          >>------------------------------<<

(Y/n) walked through the gardens with Elrond and Lindir, the elleth drowning out Elrond's aid as he complained to the Lord about the depleted stocks of food and wine due to the presence of the dwarves. (Y/n) was too busy thinking about Fili, and his declaration of love from earlier that day. Their short time together proving to both of them that there was something unique between them. (Y/n) knew that relationships between elves and dwarves were not the norm, but Fili was special. And despite everything, she couldn't help but feel as though she also was in love with the dwarf prince.

"My lady!" Lindir suddenly exclaimed. Doing his best to shield (Y/n) away from the sight of the naked dwarves jumping into, and bathing in one of the fountains. (Y/n) doing all she could to not giggle at the funny sight of naked dwarves laughing and shouting happily.

"My lord. I will take Lady (Y/n) away from here." Lindir insisted, as he took (Y/n) by the arm and escorted her as quickly as he could from the scene.

(Y/n) looking back to see if her dwarf was amongst the bathers. The lady smiling as she saw a flash of blonde hair, before Lindir almost dragged her inside.

                                                      >>----------------------------------<<

(Y/n) sat in her usual place. She had been to speak with her mother. She had told her of her feelings for the young Durin. And much to (Y/n)'s surprise, Galadriel had simply smiled and kissed her on the forehead. The lady of the woods of Lothlórien telling her daughter that their time would come.

"(Y/n)!" Fili called out, as he rushed to her side. Taking her hands and kissing them.

"You and the others are leaving, aren't you?" (Y/n) asked. Fili shocked that his beautiful elleth seemed to know what so many didn't.

"How......How did ya know that?" Fili enquired. A single tear rolling down (Y/n)'s cheek as she turned her attention to the waterfall.

"Come with us. Help us take back Erebor." Fili begged, despite knowing that his uncle nor many of the others would approve of having, of all things, an elleth with them as they journeyed back to the Lonely Mountain.

"You know that I can't do that Fili. You have a long journey, and a great quest before you. And I can only imagine the things that you and the others will face. My life though lays here. At least for the time being. But, when Erebor is once again in the hands of the Durin folk. When you have faced all your foes and won the day. We may find that if it is our fate, you and I will meet again." (Y/n) said sadly as she looked back at the blonde prince.

"Now go. The other's will be waiting for you. And the Lonely Mountain is still a long way off. Just promise me that you will be careful. And always remember that I love you." (Y/n) said, as she leaned over and kissed Fili softly on the cheek. Fili nodding before he tuned to leave. Neither he nor (Y/n) knowing whether they would see one another again.
