Peace wasn't on the menu for BG. Deputy Darkly got a message from Evelyn Treelane and met her and Roland at the hotel. They told her that they heard Lowe Ryder was going to avenge his brother.

Two minutes later Darkly missed dying by inches as a bullet smashed the door frame beside her head. She climbed out the window onto the sidewalk overhang and saw Lowe Ryder dashing across the street. She also saw Daisy climbing on a horse and preparing to ride out.

At the same time, Billy, 3Gun and Lorne burst out of the saloon and when Lorne saw Darkly on the roof he started running toward her.

She tried to stop him but Ryder dove behind a horse trough and fired, hitting Lorne in the arm. Darkly, enraged, jumped off the roof and rolled into a shooting position, emptying her gun at Ryder. The horse trough didn't protect him and he stood up, flopping over dead.

Lorne hurried up to her, brushing off the wound as nothing but before he could resist, CrazyGoose arrived with blueberry muffins and stuffed them against the wound. She and Darkly walked him to the doc's.

Daisy, not a real horseback rider, was too late to escape 3Gun, who grabbed the reins and hauled her down off the horse. It was the mayor's horse and 3Gun told her she was under arrest for horse theft and possible other charges.

Billy had gone to tell the mayor and found him tied up in his office. There was a pile of money and a note that said, 'Your share, whiner.' Billy grinned and steered him by the collar out and down to the jail.

Unger was rushing around, clicking his heels over the flood of new business. 3Gun deposited Daisy in the jail and learned from Darkly about Roland and Evelyn. He wandered over to the station just as the noon train arrived and spoke to the couple.

They were heading back east where they felt they really belonged and would be getting married. 3Gun wished them all the best and tipped his hat to Evelyn. He watched the train leave then went back to see if everything was under control.

A little side trip to the saloon seemed in order and just as he was going inside he saw CrazyGoose strolling carefree down the street. He watched her pass and watched her some more. Sighed and went into the saloon.
