Kae showed up for work again looking fit and refreshed. 3Gun gave her the lowdown on Daisy and the Ryders and asked her to do some watching to see what they were up to. Off she went and the was the last he saw of her again. Seems Kae was still smarting from the attack by Tex Mex and the stab wound. 3Gun figured she must have picked up something about his whereabouts and took off.

He checked around Tent City for her or her horse, Fred, but no use. Off he went to Alister's on his own and on the way saw the mayor coming back with Daisy and the boys. He stayed out of sight then went on to Alister's. Things were busy with the mine under construction and shafts being sunk but there didn't seem to be any trouble and he decided not to bother Alister just then. He would take his concerns up with the mayor.

The latest issue of the Pillars was out and he settled for a drink while he read the news. Coverage of the success of the Jamboree was extensive as was the story of the botched kidnapping of Gyn. Tex Mex's gang had taken Autumn by mistake, were seen by Jujube and AJ and both of the men were captured and tossed in jail.

Unfortunately, Jujube was shot defending Autumn and was pretty much a goner. As it turned out, Ruechari was able to save him, a feat she had performed more than once before. Those that knew her accepted her skill. Those that didn't just remained puzzled.

Another misadventure was taking place out of town where Marshall Order, while transporting the prisoners back to the county seat, was ambushed by some of Tex Mex's gang. They freed the prisoners but learned the hard way that the Marshall was no pushover. A gunfight ensued and all but one of the gang remained, Jimmy Changa.

He was sent running back to his boss with a warning that any assault on BG or the people would be the last thing Tex Mex ever tried. Of course this was not received very well by Changa's boss and in a rare moment of self control, Tex Mex suggested that Margarita, the sister of the dead Gordita, go to Busted Gulch and just casually snoop around and keep him informed.

One of the big upsets came for CrazyGoose when she learned after so many years that the informer that she had used, Loopy Lou, was not a man but a woman. Furthermore, she had been writing The Dish Rag page for the paper under Rue's name. In a surprise move, CG gave Lou the keys to the office and the rights to the paper then resigned as editor.

Everyone was shocked and vehemently opposed. CG moved into the hotel without another word. One crisis starts, another ends. Jujube had a long talk with Ruechari, accepting the terms of her having saved his life, then he and Autumn left happily together for his home and his people.
