Part 22 Vol. 2

Rue stood in the kissing booth watching the scene between her two suitors unfold. Things weren't looking good. Billy and Jujube were circling like boxers. Jujube was goading Billy by his actions and Billy was already at the doorway of frustration. He looked hard at Rue and then at Jujube and began to sing, Man to Man.

At the end of the song both men started to fight when in desperate attempt to avoid disaster, MoonshineNoire rushed up to the booth and got Rue to kiss her. The men stopped and stared in disbelief as she stood there and boldly sang, Kiss Me.

The fight stopped and Jujube got up and left while Billy stood staring and shaking his head. Rue came out from the booth and stood before him, she knew she was in more trouble than before when he sang, Dancing on my Own. When he finished he just shook his head again and left.

She called after him, pleading, then in anger over everything that happen, she sang after him, Take it All!

3Gun had seen the whole thing. No matter what he said to Billy, nothing changed. Fed up he went looking for CrazyGoose, he had things on his mind too. He found her at the kissing booth (popular spot for the ladies too it seemed) and taking her arm, he sang, Just the Way You Are.

Over the noise of all the singing and music at various venues, another song reached the town's ears from the stables. Apparently Tex Mex had sampled some lemonade to see why it wasn't working and in a moment of uncontrollable exuberance, turned to a surprised CrazyMoose and sang, La Bamba.

Billy wandered into the saloon, saw 3Gun drinking on his favourite chair, after already returning from the kissing where he exposed his soul, and grabbed the bottle from his hand and drank heavily. 3Gun wasn't pleased and was about to say something when kitty appeared and jumped up beside Billy. He offered the cat a sip from the bottle and sighing drunkenly, sang Drunk.

Outside there was still the noise of festivities. The dunking pool and the cake walk and pie eating; folks were having a ball. Little Ron was pouring lemonade like crazy but his heart and mind were somewhere else. He saw Billy and the Deputy and 3Gun all moving around the town looking so cool. Little Ron wished so hard that he could be like them. He sipped his own drink and broke into song. Should've Been a Cowboy.

In the evening, the train arrived from up north and Evelyn Treelane and her agent Roland debarked. Apparently things had not gone well for Miss Treelane's career, her popularity waned along with her income. She thought there might be a chance of making some money in BG after her initial success, discounting her last, rather rude, visit. She smoothed her bright red dress, adjusted her hat and beckoned Roland to follow.

Reaching town, they saw the ongoing Jamboree and she was buoyed even more, accepting a cool glass of lemonade from the sweet little boy at the table. Wandering through the crowd she could hear all the music and laughter and suddenly a sad nostalgia took over. She began to wish she could be that happy again just to sing, forget the money, and she let her feelings out with, Sophisticated Lady.

As darkness fell and the lamps around town were lit, the dancing began and Evelyn was approached by a number of men. Roland stayed back and watched her have a great time. When the dancing ended, he took her arm and led her slowly down the street to the hotel. His heart had ached watching her as he had for years, unable to speak but tonight he let his voice out and sang, Lady in Red.

Jujube found Chief Thingamajig trying to pass stale dated coupons off on the vendors and dragged him away saying he needed advice. He told the chief the whole story and how he felt and Chief Thingamajig agreed, give her up, and followed up with a bit of advice. Never Make a Pretty Woman Your Wife.

Back at the kissing booth, CG was getting fed up with the long lines and decided to change the sign. Kisses from her would one dollar fifty. Kisses from CrazyMoose only ten cents. They could like it or lump it. And, she was also fed up with 3Gun and sang out what he should do. Steps 5,6,7,8.

With the sheriff standing there, the men in line figured they'd better do something and CG came out, smiling and whispered in his ear about a job well done. He could nothing but admire her and he sang so. When You Say Nothing at All.
