3Gun arrived in Tent City and it didn't take long to find Raven's horse tied up outside a large tent. He went inside uninvited and found Raven accepting money from the man called Tex Mex. Without a word, he grabbed the money and shoved Raven outside, scolding him about his actions. His excuse was that he went to the church to search for something for Tex Mex who offered to pay. Raven argued that he'd done nothing wrong and that he had seen the Parson knock over a candle accidently starting the fire.

3Gun told him to get back to town, they would talk later. He went back inside the tent and tossed the money in Tex Mex's lap. The Mexican puffed out his chest, telling 3Gun he was the new boss in Tent City and soon the town itself and people better start realizing it. The sheriff wanted to know what Raven was supposed to search for and he purposely fractured Tex Mex's title, which riled the Mexican mightily.

When he saw the reaction he said it again and Tex Mex went for his gun, losing to 3gun's quicker draw. They stood silently facing one another until Tex Mex re-holstered his gun. 3Gun wanted to know what Raven had been sent to look for but all he got was more boasting and threats about how Tex Mex was El Jefe in Tent City.

Back in town the latest edition of the paper had come out and there was good news about Kae's recovery and the fact that Loren was going to be the saloon's singer. Ruecharie, as a freelance journalist, among all her other questionable talents, had sent in a piece on 3Gun's hotel bathing incident as well as broad, unsubstantiated statements about a wedding between he and CrazyGoose.

Apparently, CG had felt humiliated, she packed all her girly clothes away and kept to herself, her horse, CrazyMoose offering commiseration.

After the church fire was finally put out, AJ had taken Loren to the cafe and made her a dinner. They'd talked about Loren taking some self-defence instruction and AJ agreed but walked her home to get some rest. Back at the cafe there was a group from Tent City that had arrived to help, among them, Gyn, AJ's friend.

When the others left, she told AJ a horrifying tale about Tex Mex's activities in Tent City and promised to return in the morning to tell the sheriff.

In Tent City, Tex Mex was feeling more comfortable and still making comments to 3Gun that normally would have been fighting words but he held his temper, his thoughts running to all the people in town he was responsible for. The sheriff told him he would let it pass this time but sarcastically warned him about improving his skill then left. Tex Mex then followed him outside and threw his sombrero on the ground between them, telling 3Gun that next time he came back he would be dancing around his hat from the bullets from his gun.

3Gun climbed into his saddle and grinned, leaving the Mexican bandit clutching his fists and told him he would return with a bill for the church fire. Tex Mex swore as he rode off.
