Chapter Twenty Five: Looming Disapprovals

Hey guys! :)

So I need a favour from you...what books would you recommend me to read (on Wattpad)??

Preferably Teen Fiction, Mystery-Thriller Humour, Poetry or Werewolf (I am new to the genre and so far, I think it's not so bad)

We are getting very close to the end of Act Two, so this book is (almost) ⅔ done. Ideas on who The Hipster Tipster is?

Have a lovely week!

"I CAN'T BELIEVE she dumped me," Jace said to a number of people that day.

The first people he told were, of course, his closest friends. As they were changing to go for their football practice, Jace had informed the two about the conversation between him and Dawn.

"That's rough," Jack put his hand on Jace's padded shoulder. "I'm sorry,"

"Why'd she break up with you?" Parker casted Jace a side glance, pushing his hair away from his face. This surprised both Jack and Jace since Parker wasn't known to be inquisitive, with a few exceptional cases.

Jace pondered on whether to tell him the truth. The star quarterback trusted Parker with his life, which was more than he trusted Jack. It was only logical. He'd known Parker for his whole life while he had known Jace for slightly over a year.

However, if the quarterback told his closest friend the truth, he was afraid he wouldn't come out looking too good. The beauteous blonde's decision about breaking up with Jace had made Jace realise that what he had done was horrible - on several levels.

Dating a daughter and her mother wasn't right, at all. If only he had acknowledged the error of his ways earlier on. Perhaps then he and Dawn would still be dating.

Parker's question was still looming over Jace's head. Parker wasn't making it any easier since he had noticed that Jace had gone silent, and his eyes were now completely on Jace.

The Prime Minister's son noticed Jace's silence as well. However, he chose to ignore it as he jogged to the rest of the team. Parker joined him, but not before throwing a final look to Jace.

Jace found himself avoiding the two after practice. He took a shower before changing into decent clothes and left the school building before everyone else.

Unfortunately for him, the one person he didn't want to see was waiting for him at the front of the school.

Instead of acknowledging her presence, Jace walked right past her. It was when he felt her fingers on his forearm when he finally glanced at her with a look of irritation and woe.

"Yes?" Jace asked, not turning around. "What do you want, Madison?"

"What's wrong with you, Jace?" She asked, circling round him until they were face to face. Her arched eyebrows were scrunched up and her eyes were trying to meet Jace's.

The quarterback kept his gaze on his surroundings. "What do you want? My father is expecting me to be home in the next ten minutes,"

"Jace," Her voice was soft. Almost pleading. "Tell me what's wrong," Her hand reached up to touch his face but he swatted it away.

"Our tutoring session is tomorrow evening," Jace stated, readjusting the strap to his gym bag over his shoulder. "I'll see you then,"

"Talk to me Jace. You obviously seem dejected,"

"Well, I've been rejected,"

"By who? Dawn?"

The name of his former girlfriend made Jace realise why he was in an awful mood in the first place. "Just stay away from me, Madison. Stay away. I don't ever want to see you again,"

"Please Jace. Don't do this to me," She was now gripping on his arm which Jace noticed she hadn't released from when she had stopped him.

"Let go of me,"

"I love you, Jace,"

Jace's body went rigid. Finally, after a long moment of silence, he turned around to face her. She was dressed in a warm yellow sundress paired with gladiator sandals and aviators that were sitting on her head. "What?"

"I love you. I didn't realise it until this point but now I know I do. Jace, even though we started out with a student-teacher relationship, you've become more than a student to me. You always say the sweetest things to me, you know how to cheer me up after a rough day. I've never laughed harder with anyone else and I've never really admired anyone more than I admire you,"

"Student-teacher relationships aren't right, Madison," Jace frowned, after the blonde's words registered in his head. If his father found out that he was dating his teacher, he would slaughter him alive.

The disgrace he brought to his family, Jace mentally heard his father scold him.

"Am I just a teacher to you?" She asked, intertwining their fingers together.

The answer was imminent. However, Jace refused to answer her question and instead, ducked his head away. Madison's fingers touched his cheek, making him look at her again but he looked away again.

"Stay away from me," Jace gritted his teeth before removing himself from her control as he started to walk.

The blonde was quick to catch up. "You love me, too. I can see it in your body language and your behaviour,"

Jace didn't dignify that statement with a response.

"If disapproval is what is preventing you and I from dating or being together then we could run away," She persuaded.

"Run away?" He asked.

"Just you and I," She smiled. "No one will disapprove of our relationship and we can be happy together,"

"We wouldn't survive, " Jace said, scoffing at her farcical idea.

"We would...if you would do one thing,"

"What would you want me to do?"

"Apart from being a tutor, I'm a waitress. The reason why I took up tutoring was because my aunt - your Biology teacher - was helping me out after I went through a lot of unfortunate events. Despite my two jobs, I don't have enough money to sustain the two of us,"

"So?"

"So if you could find a way to some money so that we could both survive together..."

"How? I don't have a job,"

"Getting a job was not exactly what I was thinking of,"

"Then what are you thinking of? Starting a fundraiser would be odd-"

"What about your father?"

"What about my father?" Jace repeated. "Oh - wait! You are proposing that I steal money from him?"

"Well, steal isn't exactly the word I'd use-"

Jace's feet began to move away from Madison. "The word I'd use to describe you is terrible! You are a horrible person, Madison. Stealing from my father is absolutely, without a doubt wrong,"

"But you would be doing it for the right reasons,"

"Which are?"

"Our happiness. Doesn't your father always scold you and lecture you, telling you what to do and what not to do? Don't you want to get away from it all and be more liberated?"

"I'll be more liberated when an adult, which happens to be next year. As for now, I'll stick with my father. My mother left him for some other guy and I wouldn't do the same for some other girl,"

"I'm not some other girl to you, Jace. I'm special to you, remember?"

"No. I'm not going to hurt my father. Even though he's strict, it's because he wants me the best for me. He doesn't want me to get hurt like he did. Even though, thanks to you, Dawn is the one who's hurt,"

"Jace-"

"Thank you for helping me get my priorities straight but I will say this for the last time: stay away from me. Leave me alone. I'll find another tutor who'll help me out with Biology,"
