Chapter 2 (Part 1)-Homeroom Disaster
" Ivy, can your dad and I come in?" Mrs. Reckon( a.k.a Ivy's mom) asked. It had been two hours since Ivy had heard the news, and all Ivy wanted to do was cry for the rest of her life.
"Come in," Ivy sniffled as she dried her tears with her soft, magenta sweater.Ivy watched as her parents awkwardly entered her room and sat down next to her on her bed.
"Ivy, I am so sorry that you are feeling this way.I know how hard it is for you to be in crowds, but I really need to take this job at the software company," Mrs. Reckon explained, pulling Ivy into a tight hug.Even the warm feeling of hugging her mother still could not soothe the painful knot in her stomach.
" Mom, I know you need this job , but I just feel sick thinking about all the children staring at me and judging me because of my social anxiety," Ivy murmured.
" Ivy, I know it is going to be hard and children are going to stare and judge, but your mom and I believe in you and we know you can do this. Think of the situation as a ladder. Each day, you can do something that leads you up the ladder. Take small steps, like raising your hand to answer a question. When you know you cannot handle the situation, just tell yourself that you can do it," Mr Reckon ( a.k.a Ivy's dad) encouraged. Suddenly, Ivy felt the knot in her stomach begin to disappear after hearing her dad's encouraging words. It would be extremely hard, but Ivy knew she could do it.

Two weeks later - First day of school
The morning sunlight streamed through the crystal clear windows as Ivy awoke from her deep slumber. " Wait, today is my first day at Wenterson Middle School!" Ivy exclaimed, her palms beginning to sweat by the second. After taking a few deep breaths, Ivy got out of her bed to get ready. While she pulled on a black hoodie, she remembered the plan her parents and her had discussed the previous night- her task was to learn the names of the students in her class. In the blink of an eye, Ivy had put on a black hoodie and her favorite sky blue jeans, tied her long, auburn hair into a bun and packed her Harry Potter themed backpack.
" Look who's ready for her first day of middle school!" Mrs. Reckon squealed, right when Ivy had come downstairs for breakfast.
" Hopefully me," Ivy whispered to herself. Soon after, Ivy had finished her delicious breakfast of eggs and pancakes and now Ivy and her parents were in the car. "First stop, Wenterson Middle School!"Mr. Reckon yelled excitedly. This was it- Ivy was actually going to school.
