Chasing Cars

Sky's POV

It was 9:30pm. The time we'd agreed to leave. I stood outside Blaze's house, nervously polishing and readjusting my sunglasses. Then, the door opened and my jaw practically dropped. Blaze stood in the doorway, wearing a gold dress with red fringes and silver pumps. Her hair cascaded down her shoulders in red and magenta streaked ringlets, glimmering as it caught the light. "Wow. You look...beautiful Blaze..." She blushed. "Nice suit." I smiled wryly. I took her hand and we made our way through the quiet, empty streets. The orange light of the torches reflected off my medallion and let off a soft, golden glow that softened Blaze's eyes. "So? Where are we going?" "To the lake." "But it's dark! We'll be overrun with monsters!" I chuckled softly. "There are many advantages to being friends with Herobrine." "He told them not to attack us?" "Yeah." "Cool." Once out of the village's cobbled streets we ran down to the lake. The moonlight glimmered on the faint ripples, distorting the surface. There was a picnic blanket laid out on the ground, with candles and even 2 sets of plates and cutlery. I bowed. "Dinner for two." I gestured to the blanket. Blaze laughed and sat down opposite me. The stars watched over us as we laughed and joked with each other. We held hands as I told her about the time my friends Jerome and Mitch climbed to the top of a huge tree. Jerome was a Bacca, so he got down really easily, but Mitch got stuck and he had to climb back up again so he could give him an Ender pearl. She laughed and told me about the time she visited the Nether with her family and scared them all by falling in the lava. They didn't realise she was part blaze and the lava wouldn't burn her. I pulled her to her feet and took her down to the waters edge. We stared into it for a little while in quiet contentment, then I turned to Blaze and said, "I'm gonna sing for you." She laughed. "Ok!" I smiled, pulling her into my arms. We swayed gently together while I chose a song to sing, then I took a deep breath and began.

"We'll do it all...
Everything.
On our own...

We don't need...
Anything.
Or anyone...

If I lay here.
If I just lay here.
Would you lie with me and,
Just forget the world?

I don't quite know...
How to say.
How I feel...

Those three words...
Are said too much.
They're not enough..."

I lifted her up and spun round with her in my arms, she laughed as we both sung the next bit together, our two voices becoming one.

"If I lay here!
If I just lay here!
Would you lie with me and,
Just forget the world?!"

I brought her down and we both leaned in until our foreheads were touching.

"I don't know where!
Confused about how as well!
Just know that these things will never,
Change for us at all!

All that I am!
And all that I ever was!
Is here in you perfect eyes,
They're all I can see!"

I stared into her deep red eyes, they were staring back at me.

"If I lay here...
If I just lay here.
Would you lie with me and,
Just forget the world?..."

She kissed me. "Yes. I would." I smiled. "Why can't I see YOUR eyes though, Sky?" I looked away. "They're...different. I don't like people staring at them." She put her hand under my chin and turned my face back up to hers. "I won't stare. Not in a bad way." I closed my eyes and let her take my sunglasses off. "Open them." I did. She gasped. "They're beautiful Sky." "What?" I looked down at my reflection on the lake. It stared back at me. My eyes were gold, with slit-pupils like a cats and flecks of blue in the iris'. I blinked. "No they're not." "Yeah well, look at my eyes. Do I care?" "Thanks for not staring Blaze." "I'm only staring at what I see. And I see a pair of breathtaking eyes staring back at me." "I love you Blaze." "I love you too Sky, eyes and all." I laughed and she kissed me. I kissed her back, feeling happier than I'd ever felt in my life...
