Chapter 4: Battle Training

Izuku sat in his place behind Bakugo. He could feel the disgusted stares bore into the back of his head.

He did his best to ignore them, opting to finish his analysis of his classmates quirks.

The first entry was Bakugo's, as he already had a significant amount of information on his quirk from personal experience.

He had a fair amount on his classmates quirks, the only useful thing about relying too much on their powers.

The only entry with nearly as much information as Bakugo's Explosion was Uraraka's Zero Gravity.

While every entry had a list of weaknesses and strengths, Uraraka's was the only one with a list of possible uses and helpful additions to her hero costume, even though they hadn't seen them yet.

Similarly to the helpful additions, the rest of the classes entries had a unique list of their own. Strategies and contingencies.

Kaminari fried his brain when he overused his quirk, so Izuku had designed a set of batons that could be attached to eachother and used as a lightning rod to exhaust him.

Jirou's quirk was good for listening, so a sonic grenade to the face would take her out.

Keeping Bakugo cool would reduce the amount he sweats, greatly reducing his firepower. Dousing him in cold water would be even more effective. Igniting the sweat on his body with a flame could incapacitate him with a massive blast.

Todoroki seemed reluctant to use his left fire side. Keeping to his left would give Izuku an advantage.

Every member of 1A had one or two plans to take them down. Uraraka was the only one without any.

Izuku closed his notebook, eyeing the door, where their next teacher was about to enter. He glanced at the clock. They were 3 minutes late now.

Izuku frowned when a thudding sound grew closer to the classroom.

The frown grew deeper when he realized they were heavy footsteps.

He was scowling when All Might flung the door open.

"I AM HERE! COMING THROUGH THE DOOR LIKE A HERO!" He bellowed.

*Great. All Might is teaching heroics.* He thought bitterly.

All Might marched to the front, grinning idiotically at the students.

"Greetings! I will be your heroics teacher for this year! And today's heroics training will be..." All Might pulled out a cue card from.. somewhere.

  "BATTLE TRAINING!"

Izuku could sense Bakugo's malicious grin. He had a small smirk of his own.

"For this lesson, you will be needing.. these!" All Might gestured to the wall, where suitcases were being ejected from their cubbies.

"Head to the changing room and put these on! Meet me at ground Beta!" All Might said, sprinting away.

Izuku grabbed his suitcase, striding down the hall, towards the changing rooms.

Izuku looked down at his costume. He liked the design, especially the shoes.

His costume consisted of a green and black jumpsuit, with black elbow and knee pads. His boots were his regular red high-tops, which slotted inside chunky, mechanical shoes of their own. The shoes could do a multitude of things, which he was excited to try out.

Izuku clipped his red utility belt around his waist and slipped on his long white gloves. The gloves were reinforced with special braces to enhance his strength.

Izuku pulled the metal faceguard over his mouth, and pulled the green mask over his eyes. Originally, he designed the mask and faceguard with All Might in mind, but now he went with plainer versions of the originals. He wouldn't wear any symbol of a false hero.

Izuku stepped outside, where a few of his classmates were waiting. Kirishima and Yayorozu had simple costumes to put on, as there was barely any costume to wear. Izuku rolled his eyes, turning to their teacher with a cold stare.

All Might noticed his gaze on him, and a single bead of sweat rolled down his neck.

  "Hey Deku!" Uraraka said.

Izuku turned, raising his eyebrow, only for the other to join it when she came into view.

"Your costume is so cool! The colour really matches your hair!" She said. "I should have been more specific with what I wanted, I ended up with a skintight bodysuit.." Uraraka ended glumly.

Izuku was thankful for his mask, as to not let his crimson face be seen. He was not thankful for the people who designed her costume to be this way. What were they thinking?

"It looks fine." He said, reassuring his friend. "It's practical, unlike a few others."

His gaze travelled to a suit of armour. It was obviously Iida, as he could see the engines in his legs. How would a massive suit of armour help him go faster??

Izuku spotted Mineta to his left, edging closer to Uraraka. Izuku glared so hard Mineta didn't need to look to know he was caught. He looked anyway, meeting Izuku's furious gaze.

  "I warned you." Izuku said.

  "What was that?" Uraraka asked.

"It doesn't matter." He said to her.

She nodded, fiddling with her wrists. Izuku's gaze was drawn to her odd choice of design.

"Are those for your pressure points?" He asked.

  Uraraka looked surprised.

"How'd you know that?" She asked.

"You get sick when you overuse your quirk, so squeezing pressure points is the best way to alleviate that. There are a few other things you can do to prevent nausea, like using special scents. I've designed a number of devices you can use in conjunction with your quirk actually." Izuku explained.

Uraraka smiled. "That's sweet of you. I hadn't thought of using scents. Thank you Deku!"

  Izuku's gaze softened fractionally.

"Okay, now that everybody is here, let's get started!" All Might boomed.

A few minutes later, Izuku and Ochako were stood before a building, with the floor plan in their hands.

*Just my luck, I'm against Bakugo. He'll definitely come straight for me, so Uraraka should go alone to find the bomb. She could use her gravity very effectively against Iida. He could propel himself through the air a little, but couldn't do much else. That way, she can grab the bomb with ease. In the meantime, Bakugo starts with a right hook. I'll need to draw him away from Uraraka to give her time..*

"Okay, that sounds good!" Uraraka said.

  Izuku jumped.

"Did I say all that out loud?" He asked.

Uraraka laughed. "Yep! I've got the plan now though!"

Izuku sighed, his hand over his mouth.

*Haven't muttered like that in a while..*

All Mights voice boomed through the speakers.

  "HERO TEAM, START!"

Izuku and Uraraka raced into the building, not bothering with the first floor. The second or third were the best places to hide the bomb.

They creeped around the second floor, looking into each room they passed. A loud bang echoed from ahead.

"Stairs are that way. Bomb must be on the third floor!" Izuku whispered.

Uraraka nodded, and they raced towards where the blast came from.

Bakugo soon came into view, spinning around with a murderous grin on his face.

Izuku glanced at Uraraka, and she nodded, dodging Bakugo and heading for the stairs. Izuku ran at Bakugo head on, grabbing his attempted right hook and throwing him into a wall.

When he attempted to stand, Izuku swept his legs out from underneath him, placing his hand on Bakugo's face and slamming him into the ground.

Bakugo blasted across the room, away from Izuku. He stood, staring with shock at the quirkless boy.

Izuku's eyes gleamed, his lips stretched into a mad grin.

  Bakugo scowled, blasting forwards.

  "Deku..." He growled.

  "Kacchan..." Izuku sang.

Bakugo flinched, his concentration breaking, the explosion he aimed only glancing off of Izuku.

Izuku cackled, slamming his elbow into Bakugo's back, sending him back to the concrete floor.

  Bakugo grunted, gasping for breath.

Izuku decided to start leading him away, pressing the button on the side of his mouth guard, activating his boots.

Wheels sprang from the bottom, letting Izuku roll along the floor, and an exhaust came from the back of each boot, spitting flames.

Izuku shot down the corridor, keeping his body low to the ground, looking back to make sure Bakugo was following.

  "DEKU!!!"

  He was.

Izuku stayed on the run for a few minutes, before stopping and deactivating his boots.

He watched Bakugo sprint around the corner, stopping a few meters from him.

"Where'd you learn those moves?" Bakugo asked him.

Izuku smirked. "There's a lot you can learn from the internet. Besides, I don't put all of my faith into a superpower. Like I've already said, I actually put in effort to be here."

Bakugo scowled, before a chime rang out. His scowl turned to a grin.

Without a word, he raised his gauntlets, pulling the pin out of it's hiding space, keeping his finger locked in it.

Izuku raised his own gauntlet, pointing his first finger at Bakugo.

Bakugo scoffed, pulling the pin from his gauntlet.

Izuku squeezed his finger between his thumb and middle finger, making the top half of the metal gauntlet finger shoot forwards, hitting Bakugo right in the side.

Bakugo grabbed his side, hissing in pain, before realising he'd lowered the gauntlet.

  "Sh-"

The blast launched Bakugo into the ceiling, then he dropped down to the first floor through the hole he made.

Izuku looked over the edge, satisfied with his revenge for now.

He looked towards the staircase, and was only halfway there before All Might spoke again.

  "HERO TEAM.. WINS!!"
