Chapter 2: The Incident
Izuku stood before the gates of UA, staring at the massive building. He took a step forwards, only to fall forwards. Izuku closed his eyes and braced for impact.
No impact came however, as he seemed to be floating in the air. Izuku looked around at the girl on his left. She pressed her fingertips together and he fell back onto his feet.
"Sorry for using my quirk without asking first!" She said with a smile. "But it would be bad luck if you fell, right?"
Izuku nodded, barely acknowledging the brunette.
"This is pretty nerve wracking huh? Well, good luck!" She chirped, walking inside.
Izuku dismissed the girl from his mind, barely acknowledging her kindness. He walked towards the building, his eyes dark.
*I'll prove you wrong All Might. I'll prove you wrong Bakugo. I'll get into UA and have my revenge on all of you!*
Arriving in the auditorium, Izuku found and sat in his seat. Unfortunately, he was next to Bakugo, who only muttered "quirkless freak" before ignoring him once again.
The damage was done however, as the people who heard Bakugo began muttering amongst themselves, throwing disgusted glances at Izuku.
Izuku only sighed, glaring back at the arrogant students around him.
Soon enough, Present Mic came on stage, silencing the quiet chatter.
"Hello everybody, welcome to UA! Can I get a HEY!??" he exclaimed.
*Attention seeking fake.* Izuku thought to himself.
"Tough crowd. Well, anyway, this is how the practical exam is going to work!" He yelled again.
"There are 3 types of robots. 1 pointers. 2 pointers and 3 pointers. Destroy them to gain enough points to pass! You will have to search for these 'faux villains' inside a fake city! There is a-" Present Mic said.
"Excuse me!" A voice interrupted.
A spotlight focused on a tall, spectacled boy a few rows down from Izuku.
"You have only listed 3 robots in your explanation! There are 4 robots on the handout however! If this is a mistake, UA should be ashamed!" The boy said.
"And you, the boy with green hair!" He shouted, turning to Izuku.
Izuku stared darkly at the boy.
"You shouldn't be here! A quirkless boy cannot compete with those who have quirks! How will you destroy robots? If you are here to ruin others chances of passing, then you should leave!" He said.
Izuku stared for a moment longer.
"If you had waited a second more, I'm sure Present Mic would have explained about the fourth robot, which seems to be a special case. And if you think a quirkless kid being here could somehow ruin your chances of passing the exam, then there isn't any point in you being here either." He said calmly.
The boy huffed, turning back to Present Mic.
"Thank you examinees! Yes, the fourth robot is a special case! It's worth zero points, and is best avoided unless you want trouble!" Present Mic shouted again.
"And Greenie?" Mic said. "If you really are quirkless, I don't think you should take the exam! You can get seriously hurt without a quirk on the battlefield!" He shouted.
"I'll be fine." Izuku said.
Getting off the bus, Izuku was met by dirty looks and dark stares. Izuku only scowled back. The one person not scowling at him was the brunette from earlier. She still looked horrified and disgusted, but not at him. Her gaze was locked on the other examinees.
*Odd.* He thought. *How'd they offend her? Everyone's energy is focused on badmouthing me.*
A hand landed on his shoulder.
"I do not believe you should be here." A familiar pompous voice said.
Izuku slapped the hand away.
"Like I told Present Mic." Izuku turned his dark glare to the boy, making him recoil in shock.
"I'll. be. fine."
Once the horn sounded, Izuku shot away, only stopping to slam his reinforced shoes into the robots.
He took his anger out on the 'villains', and soon it was taking a single Kick to the neck to take down each robot. Izuku wracked up a great number of points, only stopping when a shadow fell over him.
Izuku saw the zero pointer, looming over the city. He turned to flee with the other examinees, until he heard a cry for help.
He turned back around, searching for the source of the voice.
He spotted the brunette trapped under some rubble. Nobody else was helping.
"Some heroes you'll turn out to be." He said, running to the girl.
He lifted chunk after chunk of concrete and twisted metal, slowly freeing the girl.
She stared at him with teary eyes, then back at the now much closer robot.
"You should run!" She said. "It's going to crush us both!"
Izuku laughed maniacally, straining to lift the final, largest slab.
"Too late for that!" He said. "If you didn't want my help then why did you call for it, condescending hero?"
With a final heave, Izuku's bloody hands shifted the concrete enough for the girl to wriggle out.
She tried to stand, but cried out and slumped back to the road.
Izuku glared at the robot, calculating it's speed and distance from them, as well as the girls weight, and their speed trying to escape.
He grabbed the girl's arm, putting it over his shoulder and scooping her up in his arms. He made his way around the rubble, stepping over blocks and sharp jagged metal poles.
He kept the distance they travelled in his mind, estimating that the robot was less than 100 meters away, meaning Izuku and the girl would only last another 30 seconds at best. Fortunately, there were only 25 seconds of the exam left.
Izuku's footsteps thudded in his ears, the girl winced with his every step, her broken ankle jolting with each movement.
Eventually, Present Mic announced the end of the exam. Izuku sighed in relief, the robot slowed to a stop just over an arm's length from Izuku. The brunette stared over his shoulder, wide eyed at the proximity of the behemoth.
Izuku set the girl down, looking around at the other examinees. They had the grace to look embarrassed about their abandonment of the girl.
"Pathetic. And you all want to be heroes." Was all he said, marching away.
Izuku spent the week training harder than before.
The zero pointer almost caught him.
*Unacceptable.*
He almost couldn't lift the concrete.
*Unacceptable.*
He struggled to damage the robot's at all without striking the weak neck.
*Unacceptable!*
He put the weights down, deciding to check for a letter from UA. He headed down the hall, and spotted a letter with the UA logo on the back. He picked it up, heading to his room.
Tearing the letter open, he pulled out a small disk. The disk activated, projecting a holographic screen onto his wall.
"BOOYA, I AM HERE AS A PROJECTION!" All Might said.
*All Might? Isn't this from UA?* Izuku scowled at the grinning face.
"HELLO YOUNG MIDORIYA! IT WOULD SEEM THAT YOU ATTEMPTED THE ENTRANCE EXAM ANYWAY, EVEN AFTER WHAT I SAID! YOU DID QUITE WELL TOO, WITH ALMOST FULL MARKS ON THE WRITTEN EXAM! YOU GOT THE HIGHEST SCORE IN THE PRACTICAL TOO! 64 VILLAIN POINTS, AS WELL AS 60 RESCUE POINTS FOR SAVING YOUNG URARAKA! WHAT ARE RESCUE POINTS? WELL, THEY ARE A SECRET SET OF POINTS, AWARDED FOR.. RESCUING OTHERS! AS WELL AS THAT, HERE! A VIDEO CLIP FOR YOUR VIEWING PLEASURE!" All Might clicked a remote.
The hologram changed, now showing the brunette from the rubble.
"Excuse me.." she said.
"Do you know that boy with the really curly hair.. and all the freckles.. it's hard to describe him.. the one everyone was being mean to?" She asked.
*Mean..?* Izuku thought.
"Would it be possible.. to give him some of my points?" She said.
Izuku was shocked. Surely she'd heard about him from the other examinees. Why would she try to help him?
"He saved me!" She continued. "He refused to abandon me, even when I told him to go! He got hurt trying to help! So please.. give him my points!"
Izuku stared in amazement at the first person in 11 years to show him any kindness.
"Ochako.. Uraraka?"
