Chapter 90: The Heart Never Forgets

(Brooklyn's POV)

Me and Katie are at a cafe. I smiled at her as I took a sip from my coffee. I heard something start to buzz. I saw Katie pull out her phone.

Katie: It's Ivy. I should take this.

Brooklyn: Go ahead.

Katie accepted the call and put it on speaker phone so I could hear Ivy too.

Ivy: Katie?

Katie: I'm here. I answered the phone after all. You're on speaker phone, just so you know.

Ivy: Ok, I don't want you to panic, but (Y/N). He definitely has Imperium's Power.

I felt myself choke a bit on the coffee in my mouth.

Brooklyn: What do you mean by that?

Ivy: I saw him. His hair went red and the energy level, I can just feel the unending amount of it.

Katie: What did he do when he achieved that level?

Ivy: He stopped some criminals. So at least he's using it for good... For the time being.

Katie: Thanks for informing us.

The call ended. I started to tap on the table, trying to get rid of all the nervous energy that appeared in my body. How has (Y/N) already gotten back to that point? It shouldn't be possible. He shouldn't even be able to remember how to do it. His memories are decaying, I know they are.

Katie: Hey, are you ok?

Brooklyn: Hm? Y-Yeah, I'm fine.

I need to make sure (Y/N) loses his memories completely.

(Davidson's POV)

I hung up on the call with Ivy. She just told me a status update with (Y/N). I put my phone in my pocket. I clenched onto my trident tightly.

Davidson: This isn't great news... But good thing everyone has been training just in case something like this would happen.

I turned to look at the crowd standing in front of me. A bunch of Heroes that I have to train.

Davidson: Listen up! We might have a war on our hands soon! I'm going to make sure this training will be absolute hell! Since threats will be even worse than that!

I looked in the crowd and saw Cody and Chris. Good to see those two are still trying to be Heroes.

Davidson: I know most of you have fear in your hearts! And I can understand! After Super's death, so many Heroes became discouraged, villains suddenly got a lot more courage to act, and civilians are always on edge! But in this kingdom, fear has no place in its inhabitants! Your King will not allow it!

Chris: Must he say this speech every time we come to train?

Cody: It does it's part in boosting moral.

Chris: And just how effective is it?

Cody: ...Hm. It's around 87% effective.

Chris: Wow, that's actually more than I thought.

Cody: Your honesty is 100% likely.

Davidson: Due to the seriousness of what might befall us, training will be extra extreme! Everyone will fight me at once! But I will be not be holding back!

I said as black energy started to escape my body. I smirked as I readied my trident.

Davidson: Don't forget to communicate with each other! Even just speaking to each other during a battle could be a matter of life and death!

(Ivy's POV)

Eventually some other Heroes came around and captured the villains and took them away. I thought about what happened earlier with (Y/N). Why wasn't I alerted by his presence when I was protecting my brothers? I'm at the top of my game while protecting those idiots.

Ivy: I just don't understand... Why is his scent so familiar to me?

I managed to pinpoint exactly what was up. I recognize the smell as someone friendly. I don't get it, how could I have recognized a smell of someone I don't know?

Ivy: That sounds like something I'm going to talk to literally anyone else. They're always the smart ones...

Ivan: So sis, you think you're going to be good by yourself?

Ivy: Are you kidding?! You were the ones that got attacked!

Nick: Yeah sure, but you didn't do a single thing to stop the villains.

Nate: You just stood there like an idiot.

Ivy: Keep talking and I'll make you wish I let the villains hurt you!

My brothers just laughed as a bead of sweat came from their foreheads.

Ivy: Now you three go back home!

They sighed and started to walk away.

Ivan: You sound like mom sometimes.

Nick: Man, we didn't even get food or money.

Nate: Let's just get some fast food on the way.

They left the area. I crossed my arms and let out a sigh.

Ivy: Just make it home safely...

I saw people walking towards (Y/N), thanking him.

Woman: Thank you sir for stepping in. You saved me and my child.

(Y/N): It was no problem.

Man: What's your name, man?

(Y/N): My... Name...?

Oh crap, he can't say his name is Imperium! Everyone has been having some serious trust issues for the past six months and him saying that name will freak everyone out!

Ashley: His name is (Y/N)! He's a new Hero around and he still hasn't thought of a Hero name yet!

Phew! Nice save Ashley!

Man: Well you dealt with those guys like it was nothing. Hard to believe you're new.

Woman: Oh yeah, you kinda looked like a Hero with tons of experience.

(Y/N): ...Thanks...

Me, Ashley, and (Y/N) left the area. As we walked down the street, we walked past a store with a bunch of Hero merchandise. I looked through a window and saw a plush of me.

Ivy: What the?! What's wrong with her face?!

Ashley: What do you mean?

I pointed at the plush through the window.

Ivy: This plush has to be a manufacture error! No way I look like this!

(Y/N): I dunno. It looks pretty accurate to me.

Ivy: You watch that mouth of yours!

We continued our walk. Eventually we started to walk past the city's graveyard. I saw (Y/N) looking at it, but something really caught his eye and made him stop.

Ashley: (Y/N)? What's wrong?

(Readers POV)

I looked at the center of the graveyard and saw a statue of a woman, dressed like a Hero. I ran into the graveyard so I can get a closer look. I looked at the words carved into the base of the statue and learned the statue is one made of a Hero named Super.

(Y/N): Who... Is this...

My mind started to slightly pulse with pain. This woman... She's the one that gave me that red scarf when I was a kid. I heard Ashley and Ivy walk up behind me.

Ashley: That's the previous Number One Hero, Super.

Ivy: She sacrificed her life to make sure everyone else lived from a villain around six months ago.

What... What is this pain in my chest? I grabbed onto my shirt and clenched it as I fell down to my knees. Why am I feeling these feelings? What's happening?

Ashley: (Y/N)? You're crying...

When Ashley said that, I realized that a bunch of tears are coming from my eyes. I managed to look up at the statue, seeing the face of the amazing Hero that's gone. Why... Do I get the feeling... I could've saved her?

(Y/N): I'm sorry...

I let out in a broken whisper.

Ivy: Huh? Did you say something?

I took a few deep breaths as I managed to stay on my feet. I used my arm to wipe the tears away. I clenched my fists tightly, but I felt a pair of arms wrap around me. They felt warm and put my heart at ease. Soon, I felt them disappear as I turned around. I saw Ashley and Ivy about a foot away from me, so it wasn't one of them. I didn't see Alexandra or anyone else nearby.

(Y/N): Who was that?

Ivy: Ok, now you're making me think you're crazy.

(Y/N): Sorry, didn't mean to speak out loud. Let's get out of here.

Ashley and Ivy nodded their heads as we began to walk out of the graveyard. I looked back at the statue and felt like it was staring at me. I nodded at it. Super... I'll make sure to make you proud. I'll save everyone, just like you.

(TimeSkip)

Me and Ashley went inside her father's house. We walked into the living room and saw Growth sitting on the couch, sipping from a cup.

Growth: Hm? Oh, it's you two! I caught word of the villains you stopped! Great job you two!

Ashley: Thank you father.

(Y/N): It was nothing. Felt like second nature to me.

Ashley looked at Growth and he nodded his head.

Growth: (Y/N). I would like to have a word with my daughter, just the two of us.

(Y/N): Oh, of course sir.

I quickly left the room. I guess I'll have some time to myself. Time to explore this place!

(Growth's POV)

I watched Ashley sit down on the couch, sitting next to me.

Ashley: Father. (Y/N)... He reached his full strength.

I put down the cup and looked at her.

Growth: I already received a call informing me.

Ashley: I know he used that Power to help others... But I honestly was scared for my life.

Growth: Ashley, there is nothing to worry about. I promise. We all have been training for the last few months, thanks to Davidson.

Ashley: I know... I'm just scared that if he attacks again... Everyone will end up like Super.

I wrapped an arm around Ashley, hugging her and trying to help her calm down.

Growth: I can assure you that nothing will happen to anyone.

Ashley eventually looked up at me and smiled.

Ashley: You're right, father. I apologize for my doubt.

I just smiled at her. I felt a hand grab my shoulder. I looked back and saw a strange woman. I feel like I've seen her somewhere before.

Ashley: Father?

I looked over at Ashley. Does she not see the woman? I looked back at the woman.

Alexandra: Get (Y/N) here. Now.

Growth: Ashley. I would like for you to leave the room. And try to find (Y/N) while you are at it.

Ashley: Uh, right, father. Right away.

Ashley got off the couch and left the room to find (Y/N). The woman let go of my shoulder and sat down on a nearby chair.

Alexandra: Finally, able to have a talk with you. Brooklyn isn't here, is she?

Growth: No, she ain't. Is she important?

Alexandra: Do you not recognize me?

Growth: You are familiar, I will say that.

Alexandra: I was with the person that defeated you all those days ago.

I remembered that day and looked at her intensely.

Growth: I remember now. You were with Brooklyn that day.

Alexandra: And that's where you're wrong. I was and always have been with (Y/N). I am a holder of the Power known as Imperium.

Growth: What... That's impossible...

Alexandra: You remember yesterday? Don't you find it strange that you accidentally broke a glass? A man with such control of his Power suddenly slipping such strength? Not very likely. Your Power was growing, because Brooklyn was with you.

Growth: My Power... It was growing that day. Do you know why?

Alexandra: I do... Brooklyn is a villain.

I stood up and pointed my hand at the woman, making a ball of green energy come from my hand.

Growth: I don't know who you are, but saying she is a villain is ridiculous. Get out of my house, before I make you.

Alexandra: ...Oh, I guess I never introduced myself. I'm Alexandra. Now listen to me. How do you think (Y/N) had Ashley's scarf?

Growth: ...

Alexandra: It's because Brooklyn has (Y/N)'s life now. She somehow changed reality and took his place.

Changed reality? That's impossible. That shouldn't even be possible. I heard a door open. I looked back and saw (Y/N).

Growth: Hello (Y/N).

He looked at me confused.

(Y/N): Why are you pointing an energy ball at Alexandra?

Growth: Wait, you can see her?

(Y/N): Wait, you can see her?

(Y/N) and Growth: YOU CAN SEE HER?!?!

Alexandra: So you believe me now? Do you Growth?

I lowered my hand and got rid of the energy ball.

Growth: Yeah... I do believe now.

(Y/N): Alright, what is going on?

Alexandra: (Y/N). I want you to transform.

(Y/N): Uh... Alright.

A red aura surrounded his body as his hair and eyes turned red.

Alexandra: Now Growth, use your Power to give (Y/N) as much energy as you can.

I pointed my hand at (Y/N) and a green beam started to come out of my hand and went into (Y/N). Alexandra walked over and put her hand on (Y/N)'a shoulder as his red aura suddenly became gigantic.

(Y/N): Aaaaahhhhhh!!

I felt everything start to shake as he started to to hold his head. He feel down to his knees and powered down. I stopped giving him energy and Alexandra disappeared from sight. I walked up to (Y/N) and got down on one knee in front of him.

Growth: (Y/N)? Are you ok?

(Y/N): I... Remember everything.
