Chapter 10

I stretch before quickly contracting from my stomach still being sore from yesterday. Due to the commotion Eri started to wake up.

"Morning Eri." I say as she sleepily runs her eyes.

"Morning." She says as she lays back down and falls asleep.

I chuckle slightly as I get out of bed and go get ready.

After getting ready I walk into the living room to see that my mom has already left and left a note.

"I head out since I got a job offer. I will most likely be gone all day so take care of Eri. I also got a letter from the school that says you will start attending in a few days. Love, mom." So looks like I will have to find someone to take care of Eri while I train. But after that I want to surprise Eri by going to a small local amusement park.

I dial Nejire's number and it ringed a few times before she answered.

"Hey, could you take care of Eri for a bit. It's just until I'm done with my training."

"Sure. Just let me know when you're heading over here."

"Thanks. We will head in ten to fifteen minutes. I just need to wake Eri up and then get her ready. See ya soon."

"Yeah, see ya." She says as I hang up.

I walk into my room and gently wake her up. "Eri, mom's not going to be home today so you get to spend it with me." I say as she starts to stir.

"Huh? I get to spend the day with you? Yay." She says, still tired.

I spend a few minutes getting her fully up and then I get her ready before heading out to my Nejire's place.

"Where are we going?"

"I need to do some training so I am going to drop you off at Nejire's place until I'm done. Is that okay?"

"Yeah. But after that will we go places?"

"Yeah, I have a surprise place we are going to go to after I'm done."

"Really? Yay!" She says as she jumps with excitement.

I smile to myself at her expressing happiness. Although she has yet to show that much happiness from anything other than big stuff.

"Do you want me to give you a piggyback ride?" I say as I drop down to my knees to allow her to get on.

"Sure!" She says as she hopes into my back and I get up before running towards Nejire's house.

We quickly get there and I let Eri down before knocking on her door.

I hear footsteps running to the door before the door flings open to reveal a flustered Nejire.

"Izuku! Could you come on for a second?" She says she pants slightly.

"Sure. He doesn't have a specified time for me to show up." I  say as o step in after Eri.

"Just go into the dining room. I will lead Eri to where she can play. Follow me Eri." She says as she starts to lead Eri upstairs.

I walk into the kitchen wondering what's up before my question is quickly answered. I see her parents sitting at the table, looking very serious.

I quickly take a seat across from them and wait for them to talk.

"We have decided to let you get an apprenticeship with us, on one condition." Her dad says.

"What is that one condition?"

"There have been a string of crimes varying from theft to murder. We believe that all of these are connected because they all have the same type of victim. High school girls. We have called off your training for the day because we want you to investigate these and put an end to them. We will send Nejire out with you and we would like you to return her to us at the end of the day in one piece. Nejire has all of the leads and evidence. That is all." Her dad says as he gets up and leaves the room with his wife following close behind.

I sit there for a second, thinking about the case before getting up to find Nejire.

I walk into the living room and see her fiddling anxiously on the couch.

"Are you okay?" I say as I walk up to her.

"Not really. There isn't much evidence or many leads, the target seems dangerous, and to top it off if we fail you don't get this apprenticeship."

I sit down next to her and embrace her. "It's okay. We will do this and if we don't then I have a ton of other options."

"You completely ignored the dangerous part." She says as she looks at me with a knowing look.

"We don't know how dangerous they are. They are going after high school girls, which are pretty easy targets. For all we know it could be some guy in his mid thirties who can barely lift ten pounds and manages to kill them because he stabs them in a vital spot when they don't notice."

"Let's hope it is." She says as she gets up and gets ready to go.

She changes into her hero suit and grabs the folder containing any leads and evidence.

I was already wearing my hero suit so I just put on my shoes and walked out into the streets when Nejire was done.

We walk to a park and quickly review the evidence. All victims seemed to be high schools girls in tenth or eleventh grade. All of the murders happened in the night, and all thefts happened in the day. Murder victims cause of death range from blood loss to severe burns. It seems my theory of it being a thirty year old man just got disproved.

"Not much to go on here." I say as I check the locations of the crimes. Suddenly realization hit like a truck.

"Izuku? Are you okay?" Nejire asks me as I struggle to stand up.

"We need to head back to your house now!" I frantically shout.

"Why?" She asks me, worries at how I was acting.

"They're watching us. They know we found them out. They will now move in for the kill. Hit us where we hurt the most."

"Who is watching us?!" Nejire shouts at me, getting annoyed at me.

"The culprits of these crimes. The Legue of Villains. They had my mom get a job offer so I would get control of Eri. They set up these crimes so that right when they needed to be dealt with would be at the same time your parent decided to let me join so that I would be sent out and leave Eri there. They want Eri so that they can try to get her quirk back so they can make anti quirk bullets."

Nejire just nods to me as we take off to her house. We turn around the corner and see that house in blue flames.

"No." Nejire whispers as she drops to her knees.

I glance at her before I rush into the house. The house was filled with blue fire, and was already starting to fall apart.

I start choking on the smoke and I call out for Eri and Nejire's parents.

"Help." I hear a voice barely above a whisper coming from a blocked room.

I quickly run up to it and smash the pillar that was blocking it. I open the door and see Nejire's mom passed out on the floor.

I quickly pick her up and then dash out of the house. I lay her down on the neighbors lawn and catching my breath before running back in.

I search every room until there is one room left. I burst into it and see Eri being held by Dabi in a mask to allow him to breathe. I also see Nejire's dad on the floor, covered in blood.

My vision starts to get hazy so I know I have to hurry up. I slam into Dabi, causing him to drop Eri. I catch Eri and then grab Nejire's dad before running out before Dabi could recover.

I run out of the house and to where I placed Nejire's mom, and I place Eri and Nejire's dad. I quickly check on all three of them and all of them were still breathing, although her dad was bleeding through multiple cuts all over his body.

I turn around to go back and face Dabi but the house has completely fallen apart by now. I turn around to see Nejire running towards us with my mom.

"Izuku!" My mom says as she runs up to me.

"I'm fine, but these three aren't doing so well. They are still breathing but they inhaled a lot of smoke. We need to get them to the hospital quickly."

"Are you sure you're okay? I don't want another person important to me to have a chance of death." Nejire says as she holds back tears and checks on her parents.

"They most likely won't die and I held my breath and caught my breath before going in so I inhaled very little smoke." I say as sirens start to head our direction.

We sit there in silence as the sirens get closer. Once the ambulance and firetruck get here they load Eri and Nejire's parents into the ambulance and drive off.

Once they're gone, and my mom heads home after making sure I'm okay, Nejire wraps me into an embrace and starts to cry. I smile slightly to myself, knowing that she held that in even if her parents could be dead so that if needed she could help.

"They'll be fine. They might have to spend a day or two in the hospital but after that they'll be fine."

"But what about you? What if you stayed to long in there searching for them? What if you didn't make it back out?" She says as she continues to cry into my shoulders.

"That would mean that I didn't manage to save one of your family members." When I say this Nejire looks up at me furiously before slapping me with all of her force.

"No! It would mean I lost you! Why don't you get it? You treat your own death like it's nothing. Why can't you see that I would be just as devastated if you didn't come out as if my mom or dad didn't come out! So please, I know that this time you came out relatively unscathed but next time they to get out completely unscathed." She says as she sits there and looks at me pleading me to not get hurt anymore.

"I..... I'm sorry. I guess my lack of consideration for me comes from me wanting to be a hero and save anyone, and also my childhood of people telling me I'm worthless. I will try to change that though." I say as Nejire embraces me again.

"This is a pretty good start though. You saved everyone and got out without any major injuries." Nejire says as she smile and kisses me.

I freeze. Even though we've been dating for a few weeks we have yet to kiss. I quickly get over this and return the kiss.

Nejire breaks away after a few seconds and smiles at me as I blush.

"Let's head to the hospital to check on my parents and Eri." Nejire says as she gets up and offers me a hand. I accept it and we start heading to the hospital.

Once we get there we walk up to the front desk. "Can I see my parents? They should've recently got here along with a little girl."

"Ah yes, Juniper and Mason Hado. They are sharing a room with the little girl. The room number is 347, but they are currently being check up on so you will have to wait until they are done to check up on them.

"Thank you." We both say as we head to the room number she told us.

Once we get there we wait for a few minutes before the doctor come out looking grim.

"I'm sorry but they don't seem to be doing that well. I'm not sure what it is but something has entered all three of their systems that is slowly killing them. And at the rate it is going at it will be a miracle if they make it three days."

"W...... What? You're kidding right?" Nejire says as her face goes pale.

"I'm afraid not. Also, this mysterious substance is unknown so we have no cure for it. It's best to say your final goodbyes while they can still be awake."

We both rush in to check on them. Her parents were seated right next to each other with Eri across the room.

Nejire goes to her parents and I go to Eri. "Eri, you awake?" I say with a bit of fear in my voice.

"Yeah." She says weakly.

"Izuku is here now, it's okay." I say as tears threaten to spill.

"Izuku, I know that they poisoned me. I know I'm going to die." She says weakly as she starts to cry.

"But I dont want to die. I was finally getting to stay with big brother Izuku and getting spoiled. I dont want to leave all of that." She says as she starts to cry harder.

"Don't worry, everything will be okay. It will be okay." I say as I start to cry.

Eri just continues to weakly cry and I cry with her.

She falls asleep soon, and I get up and check on Nejire.

She was passed out, tears still streaming down her face.

I decide right then and there, I will get that antidote or die

I walk out of the room and instantly head back to my house to think of where they could be hiding.

I get home and when my mom sees me she goes to greet me but sees the look on my face so decides not to.

I go into my room before locking it and pulling up maps of the area.

"Izuku, dinner is getting cold." My mom says to me, shaking me from thought.

"I'm not hungry." I say before getting back to what I was doing.

"Izuku, you've been locked in your room all day. You need to eat."

I give in and decide to take a break to eat. I walk out of my room and quickly eat my food before heading back into my room. Right as I was sitting down I realized something.

I look at everything and realize where they're base is. It is in a city called Asahikawa. I look at the departure times for trains and see that the next, and last one is in ten minutes.

I rush out to put my hero suit on underneath my jacket and grab my wallet. I quickly put on my shoes and go to walk out the door.

"Izuku. Where are you going?" My mom asks from behind me. I turn around and see that she is very worried.

"To the hospital. I'll spend the night there with Eri. See ya." I like, which hurts to do to my mom.

"Okay, I hope she get better soon."

"She will." I say as I walk out of the door to be greeted by an angry Nejire.

I quickly close the door as she drags me away.

Once we are out of earshot of my mom she slaps me. "Fucking idiot!" She yells at me.

"I'm guessing you know where I'm going?"

"Hell yeah I do! What are you thinking!" She says as she holds back tears. "Look, I know that you want to save them, but don't go. If I lost you and my parents I would be devastated."

"I am going. I'm not going to let them kill Eri and your parents." I say as I start to walk away.

"Then I'm coming." I spin around when she says this. I contemplate for a second before deciding to let her tag along.

"Their base is a pretty far so we should head out now." I say as I start heading to the train station.

We hop on the train right as it was leaving and take a seat. We talk a bit but most of the long ride was spent in silence.

"Nejire, we're here." I say as I lightly shake her awake.

She groggily gets up as I practiacally drag her out before the doors close.

I look around and see that the station was a small, above ground station. It is snowing pretty heavily so I decide to get under something to recheck the location.

"So, what is the plan?" Nejire says as I check my phone to make sure of their base.

"We will scout the place and find any points of entry. Once we enter we will find wherever they made this poison and find if there is an antidote. Once we get what we need we will leave from where we entered and get out of here."

"Sounds good, but the one problem is what if we get caught."

"I didn't make a plan for if we get caught because we won't need one." I say while looking grim.

"So don't get caught." Nejire affirms.

"Yeah. We should get going before it gets too late. I still need to be back by morning."

We start heading to the base, which was on the edge of town. We walk in silence before a voice interrupts us.

"Izuku? Nejire? What are you guys doing here?" A familiar voice intrudes upon our silence.

We turn to see Todoroki and Iida looking at us suspiciously.

"You better not be doing anything indecent." Iida stated in his usual professional tone."

"No, we're just taking a walk." I nervously lie.

"But don't you guys live in Sapporo?" Todorki chimes in.

We both chuckle nervously to each other, know we've been caught.

"Wait, are this your hero suits? What are you planning?" Iida says as he starts to get worried.

"You can't stop us, but we're going to the get an antidote from the League of Villains."

"Are you joking! You plan on breaking into the League of Villains headquarters with just the two of you?!" Iida shouts at us.

"We have reason." I quietly respond

"What reason can be great enough that you are willing to risk your lives?!" Iida shouts back.

"Eri and Nejire's parents are right now laying on hospital beds slowly dying! Their only chance of survival is an antidote!" I finally break.

"We dont plan on getting caught. We just plan on getting that antidote and then getting out of there." Nejire calmly says next to me.

"Well then we should wait outside for you. If you need help then we would be there, ready to help." Todoroki suggests.

"Okay. It's just this way." I say as I start to lead them to the hideout.

We walk for a few minutes in tense silence. Once we get to the  building we start looking for an entrance.

After searching the building we find that the best entrance is a ventilation shaft.

"Wait here. If you see me send out my location then rush in. Let's hope that doesn't happen though. Let's go Nejire." I say as I hop into the building.

I hear Nejire hop in behind me and we start making our way through the building.

We sneak through, stopping whenever we hear a voice until we find their makeshift lab.

We quickly enter and look around the lab until we hear a voice behind us. We turn around to see an unfamiliar villain. He had a dark black hoodie with the hood down, jeans, and pale, dry skin.

"Well well well. Looks like the mini heroes wanted to save those they care about. Looks like you did manage to find the lab without getting detected, good for you. But alas, I will have to report to Shigiraki that you took the bait." The mysterious villain says as he pulls out a button and presses it.

"Well, time to keep you occupied." He says as he pulls out knives and starts throwing them at us. We dodge the knives but they loop back around and Nejire blocks them by letting out a small vibration and I dodge them.

He guides them back to himself and puts them back on his belt.

"You did good to dodge them. But Shigiraki is now here so I will be taking my leave." The villain says as he walks away.

"So good to see you again hero." Shigiraki says as he walks into the room.

"Give us the antidote."

"I'm sorry, try saying that a little nicer won't you? I'm not in a good mood so maybe if your nice about I will give it to you." He says with a cocky grin.

"Give. Us. It. Now." I say forcefully.

"Maybe." He says while pretending to ponder the idea.

"How about this. You both defeat someone of my picking in a 1v1 and I give both of you two antidotes. How does that sound?"

"You better not do something dirty."

"Why would I ever do that?" He says while giving a look of mock innocence.

"Show us the antidotes first." Nejire says

"Is this good enough?" He says as he holds four vials of some substance.

"Follow me if you want them." He says as he starts to walk down the hall.

I look over to Nejire and we decide it is the only way to save our families so we need to. We start following Shigiraki until we enter what seems to be an out of use gym.

Along the way he picked up two villains for us to fight. One of them was a pretty well built man that was probably around 6.2 and had blonde hair in a ponytail. The other one had a bright red cloak on and hair to match. His face looked like one of a hardened criminal that wants to kill.

Shigiraki then paired me with the red cloak man and Nejire with the blonde man.

"You two follow me. We're going to a different arena." He said as he pointed at me and the masked man.

"Last thing. This is to the death." I froze and I'm guessing Nejire did the same thing.

My heart starts to pound heavily and I look back at Nejire to see her nearly having a panic attack.

She looks my way and I give her a shaky nod which causes her to calm down a bit.

I turn around and start following Shigiraki. He goes to the other side of the building to another gym like room.

"Go ham. The moment you step into that room you can fight." He says as he walks to the sideline.

I walk in and turn around to fight my opponent but he's gone.

Suddenly I feel a burning pain in my back. I turn around to see him holding a knife into my back.

"Too slow. Too bad you won't be able to wor-" I quickly charged up 30% in my leg and kicked his gut, sending him flying.

I rush over and before he can get up I let a punch out in his stomach, knocking him out.

"Finish the job."

"No." I turn around to face Shigiraki.

He begins to pull out something but I send myself crashing into him, causing him to drop the button and get knocked out.

I sneakily take the antidotes and then quickly leave the area before he gets back.

I rush over to the other side of the building to see how Nejire was doing.

I enter the room and see Nejire barely standing up as her opponent kept punching her.

I quickly jump over to the man and kick him with 30% but he just ranks the hit and looks over to me.

Realizing my situation I pull out my phone and send my coordinates.

"Calling for backup, eh? Doesn't matter, I'm going to take you guys out before he gets here."

He charges up his fist and let's it out into me, causing the knife in my back to fall out and sending me flying.

I get up and realize that some of my ribs are broken. It then dawns on me that his quirk is to take any force exerted into him and to transfer it back outwards.

I try to stand but I start to get lightheaded. I look down and see that my back wound was bleeding profusely.

I fall down and hit my head on the cement of the floor.

My vision starts to get hazy but I try to stand back up. I turn to face them but I see the villain holding Nejire, choking her.

I am instantly filled with rage and I charge up my body and send myself hurdling towards them.

I crash into the villain and can hear his bones breaking. I realized that he doesn't negate the force entirely.

He drops Nejire as he stumbles back. Before he has a chance to stand back up I already have Nejire and rush to where we came from.

Halfway there we see Iida and Todoroki.

They see me seemingly fine and Nejire in my arms.

They quickly take Nejire but then they notice that I'm shaking slightly.

"Are you okay Izuku?" Iida asks with concern but that is the last thing I hear before I black out.

I groan slightly as I take in my surroundings. I see that I am in the hospital, although for how long I dont knoe. I then notice a weight on my chest.

"Izuku!" I look down to see Nejire with tears in her eyes.

"Thank God Izuku!" She cries as she embraces me.

"I didn't know if you were ever going to wake up! You have your mother worried sick!"

"Wait, how long was I out?" I nervously ask.

"A week." When she says that my heart stops.

"Don't worry, I took the antidotes off of you and quickly took them back home and gave it to them. They are fine now, they even came to visit once. Eri on the other hand, she has been visiting every day. She actually just left a couple minutes ago."

"That's good." I say as I relax.

"Your injury was pretty bad. Not only were you losing way too much blood from that stab wound, but you also got a concussion." She says but she seems to want to say more.

"I could've lost you. Even back when you lost your arm you were awake quickly. This time it also took longer to get you to the hospital so we didn't know whether we were too late. I was so scared." She said as she grips me tighter and cries.

"How were your injuries?" I ask, trying to change the subject.

"Not bad. I just had to rest for a couple days and I was as good as new."

"What time is it?"

"Nine in the evening. I will go and get a doctor to check you over." She says as she gets up, wipes her tears away, and head to get s doctor.

She shortly comes back with a doctor who quickly checks me over.

"You seem to be fine. Although that stab wound is still a little weak, so if you could stay in this area in case something happens, that would be preferred."

"Thank you doctor." I say as I shakily get up.

Nejire helps me as we walk out of the hospital.

"So, where have you been staying?"

"With your family. My family is back in Sapporo and since your family came here as quickly as possible I stayed with them."

"How did they find out?"

"When we got here Iida grabbed your phone and dialed the mom and dad contacts. The moment your mom heard she rushed over here. Your dad also rushed over here, although he hasn't interacted with your mom yet."

"How did Eri get here?"

"When my parents woke up they brought Eri here."

"So, what's new in this area?" I say, sending a silent message that she luckily picks up.

"Once we left the building people called some heroes to check it out, causing the League of Villains to flee the area."

"Do we know where they went?"

"No clue. Although they managed to capture your opponent since he was still unconscious."

"We should probably head to where my mom and Eri are staying."

"Yeah. Follow me." She says as she starts to head towards our destination.

The walk was pretty short. Once we got there I looked at the small building and wondered how this was a hotel.

We enter the building and head up to the third floor.

We knock on the door and hear footsteps up to the door.

The door opens and the moment my mom sees me she breaks into tears and tackles me.

Eri sleepily walked up to the door to see what was going on and the moment she saw me she did the same thing as my mom.

They both cried on me for a couple minutes before Eri fell asleep and my mom broke away.

"I was so worried." Is all she said as she smiled at me.

"I'm fine now. I just can't leave the area until my back is fully healed." I say as I wait for my mom to get angry at me for lying and getting into danger.

"I'm just happy that you and Eri are both alright. Nejire filled me in on the details and once I heard that I knew I couldn't be angry with you. You didn't want to worry me so you didn't tell me what you were doing. But next time, please tell me so if something goes wrong I can be there."

"Yeah." I say as I start to tear up at my mom.

I hug my mom and she hugs back. After a couple seconds I let go.

"I'm really tired. Could I sleep here as well?"

"Sure. Although we only have two beds." My mom says before looking slightly evil.

Oh no. "Why don't you and Nejire share a bed?" I was really hoping she wouldn't say that.

I freeze and turn redder than a tomato and Nejire fares just as well.

"Well, good night Izuku." My mom turns away and seems to chuckle slightly as Eri wakes up and goes to join my mom.

"Well, we should probably head to bed." Nejire nervously wakes into the room.

We get to the bedroom and the bed seemed big enough to fit two people, but not without them having contact with eachother.

"I can-"

"No. I will not allow you to sleep on the floor. I will sleep on the floor and you will sleep on the bed." She says as she points to my back.

"Okay. But if I didn't have a back injury then I would be sleeping on the floor."

"Get out so I can change."

I walk out of the room and stand against the door until she calls out that I can come in.

I walk in and take of my shirt, which causes Nejire to blush insanely and look away.

I start to blush and quickly take of my pants before getting on to the bed and covering myself in the covers.

"I'm done now." I say as she turns around and grabs a spare pillow and comforter from the closet before laying down.

"Goodnight." I say as I quickly drift off to sleep.

"Goodnight." I hear Nejire say.

I am shaken awake by a nearly crying Nejire.

When she sees me awake she starts to silently cry and hugs me.

I realize that she probably had a nightmare of me dying. I hug her back and let her cry into my shoulder.

"Can I," She says asks, hinting at what she wants.

I blush slightly but nod. She quickly gets under the covers with me and hugs me.

I hug her back and rest my chin on her head.

She soon lessens her grip and I look down to see that she is asleep. I kiss her forehead before heading back into sleep.
