Chapter 12: Troubles Through The Trees
[Fair Warning: Cussing/Inappropriate Language will be mentioned in this chapter]
It's almost been 2 months since the last time I posted a chapter, and I apologize for the long wait. I had to take a quick break from writing stories for a bit. °^°

A lot of the hermits will agree that Cleo was an incredibly big help with watching over the kids, but even our favorite zombie has her limits. From Saturday to Monday, the daycare is left unoccupied and the hermits take time from their bus schedules to watch over their own young hermit/s.
Wels' usually quiet base ain't quiet no longer. You'd expect high pitched voices of young living beings going crazy and enjoying life as a flesh sack, right? Wrong. Instead it was the sound of the furnace cooking up a meal with a mix of continuous groans coming from the young blonde.
Wels looks up from the furnace and just chuckles. "Falsey, how long are you going to keep glaring at the food like that?"
Young False quietly whines in return. "I'm bored… Cubby won't play pirates with me!"
"Well, I can play pirates with you instead," Wels suggested, grabbing two more raw meat from the chest.
"But Uncle Wels, you're busy cooking?..
A smirk slid across the knight's face. " Aye matey, but I 'ave a treasure hunt for ya-" Young False breathes out a sudden giggle as Wels attempted a horrid pirate accent. " What I want ya ta do is to go to account n find me a fish from the bottom of me wooden chest, or it's sleeping with the fishes for ya!"
The young hermit squealed as Wels sprinted towards her for a tickle attack. "AHH- Uncle Welsy!? She escaped from Wels' attack as she sprinted away from the kitchen with a giggle.
False walked across the main hall till she stood before the chest. She quickly opens the chest and dives inside the wooden box, in search of a fish. "I found it!" she exclaimed to no one but herself, grabbing the sea creature and hoping out of the chest.
"Uncle Wels! I found the f- huh?..False frowned, looking up at the window to find a familiar figure near the forest. She looked around her surroundings for a bit before running towards the door. She quietly exits the house, but grips closer to the door knob, so she would still be considered inside the house.
"Cubby!" She called out.
The young pharaoh took notice of his friend, but chose to ignore her. He leaned closer to the tree, his head sticking out from behind the trunk every few seconds, almost like he was spying on something.
"Cub!?" she called out again, but this time ran across the small grass field and joined him. "Cub, uncle Wels says we can't go outside without him. Wha-"
"Shhh!" He hushed the young female and proceeded to look back at whatever he was looking at. False leans closer to Cub's arm, peeking at whatever he was peeking at.
"Why are we whispering?... "
"I saw something funny looking," Cub chuckled softly..
The two continued to stare at nothing but a sea of trees. It was quiet, it was dull, it was even more boring than False observing Wels' cooking skills. False wanted to leave the area and go back inside the house, till..
" I see something!" False quickly grabbed the closest thing that was attached to Cub and dragged him through the forest. "Eh?- Falsey wAiT-"

--Wels' POV--
5 minutes have passed since I requested False to get the fish. I waited patiently for her, even took the time to prepare some wooden bowls for dinner.
"False! Have you got the fish yet?.."
But no one answered.
I felt confused, maybe a bit worried. I'm probably just overreacting but…
"False?" I called out again. I took a few steps away from the kitchen and paused near the corridor. The chest where I usually stored the fish was open, showing signs that False was indeed getting the fish. But where was she?.
"Cub!? Is Falsey with you?" I waited for another response, but my heart sank when I heard nothing but quiet.
"Cub?! False?!" This time I was screaming their names...Something was wrong. I hastily sprinted up the stairs and rushed around each room of the house. "False?! Cub?! Kids?! Where are you?!"
No one answered..
At this point, I was this close to passing out on the floor. There were no signs of the young hermits. Honestly I'm even willing to accept this as an unintentionally cruel pranked played by the two kids! I just needed a sign!
"CUB!? FALSE" I cried out. I double checked every single corner of this house and still nothing.
There was one thing left to do… I grabbed my communicator from my inventory and dialed any random hermit in this server. I did not care who I was calling, I basically trusted the hermits my whole life and soul.
" 'Ello? Wels?"
"GoOdness mE Stress yoU and your lovely vOice! Icannotfindthekids- I-I do not kNow where they are probablyhurtorlosT OR DE-"
"Wels, love! Please calm down! I cannot understand what you're tryin' to say. Please just take a deep breath.."
I did as she instructed… "S-Stress? I can't find False and Cub-" my hands continued to tremble as I tried my absolute hardest not to drop the device, "I checked every part of the house yet I still ca-"
"KYAHHHHHHHHHHH"
A high pitch scream, a faint yet horrifying scream, cut me off before I could finish my sentence. My eyes widened once I realized the one place I haven't checked.
"Fuck Fuck FUCK!!" I cried out. Leaving Stress hanging wasn't ideal for this situation, but screw it. I tossed the device towards any random direction of the room and sprinted my way outside the house.
Young voices were heard all around the forest. This proved to be a real challenge to pinpoint where the scream came from. The sky started to grow darker as I found myself mindlessly running around this sea of trees. "Cub!? False!?"
"Uncle Wels!" A voice replied faintly from the opposite direction..
"CUB!! FALSE!!" I spammed all of my rockets and flew through the forest, slamming my face on every single trunk, but continued anyway despite the pain of wood scratching every part of my exposed skin.
It was only until two small, trembling, bodies tackled me to the ground with the strongest hug I could ever have in my life. "Uncle Wels!" The two young hermits whined in sync.
"False! Cub!" I grabbed the two closer to my hips, keeping them far away from the source of their fear. A group of zombies marched from the depths of the forest, hungry for a snack or two, the young hermits specifically.
"You two, stay here and don't look," I guided the two kids away from the future crime scene. It's not unusual that these undead creatures would pester us nonstop , the annoying zombies are a normal part of my life. But never in my life, did I feel this fucking excited to snap their little, green, necks..

The journey back to my base was quiet and tense. Cub and False did not utter a single word after that, they buried their heads closer to my chest plate as I carried the two back to the house. Once I knew everything was safe, I brought the two kids down on the ground and guided up the staircase to the bedroom.
"Sit," I patted on the mattress. The two quickly hopped on the bed, sitting up straight with shoulders still tensed. I frowned at the two frightened kids, breathing out a heavy sigh.
"Why did the two of you go out of the house?"
The two young hermits continued to stay silent, avoiding eye contact from anyone in this room.
"Didn't I tell you two that you couldn't go outside the house without me. Why?.. Why did you go out?"
False bowed down her little head, fiddling with her fingers as she choked out her words. "A-Are you angry at us, Uncle Wels?"
"I am."
That made the two kids wince from fright.
"I-.." I paused for a second, "I'm j-just… You two could've gotten hurt, or even worse! You knew that you weren't allowed to go outside or in the forest without me, but you did it anyway. I was!!... S-So worried!."
I told myself not to break down in front of the kids, seeing as they're already scared of the fact that I am indeed a bit crossed with them.
" I-I'm sorry, " The young pharaoh whimpered." I saw something funny looking- so I went outside to c-check.. Falsey did not do any wrong stuff, I did wrong stuff."
"No Cub!" The young female whined. "I also wanted to see the funny looking thing too! I grabbed you inside the forest!"
False reached out for the Cub's hand, squeezing it as an attempt for reassurance that these two were in it together. She slowly looked up to me with a face almost on the verge of crying.
" I'm sorry Uncle Wels.. Do you still love us?.."
The stern expression I displayed immediately changed into a sad, worried, frown. "Of course I still love you two.. Come here," I reached for the two kids as they looked hesitant to even go near me. Soon Cub finally let the dam fall and sobbed in my arms. False followed pursuit and tackled me once again to an even tighter hug.
The quiet was filled with the sounds of cries and whimpers of the two young hermits. It took all of my strength not to join them in their sobs and worry them more.
"I wouldn't be angry at you two if it meant not worrying about your well beings. No matter how many mistakes you make, I'll always care about you two. Always remember that, okay?"
The two nodded, burying their heads on my chest. "Okay.." They both whispered in response. I brought them closer for a hug, gently rubbing their backs as I attempted to finally calm them down.
"But as punishment for not listening to me, no cake or anything sweet for a week. Got it?"
Groans and whines echoed the rooms as the two pouted like a baby. I softly chuckled, wiping their continuously teary faces. You know? Sometimes we hermits forget that these sweet, little, troublemakers are our babified friends. It just felt surreal..
"Come on. Let's go eat dinner."

--A quick --
"WELS!!" A female brunette cried out as she came running up the stairs. "Wels I-" she then notices the two young figures sitting on my lap. She finally took the time to catch her breath.
"Don't ya dare hang up on me like that again! I had to dump young Iskall and Mumbo onto poor Grian [Bless him for currently dealing with 4 kids right now] because I was worried about ya!"
[Keralis: F-Four kids?.. You lucky man-]
