Chapter 1
Let's go ahead and get started with the first chapter...

"I deem it time that you learned the truth about yourself. Your fate has been changed since birth and it's time you know what it is," the voice said. This voice was not Zhu. In fact, it was very feminine and sort of echoed. (Y/n) immediately sat up from where he lay on the ground away from the others. No one else was around as far as he could sense.
Since they were closer to Lanox than ever, (y/n) found it hard to adjust to the surrounding natural wildlife but he had been managing pretty well. It was for that reason that he found it odd to be hearing a voice from a source he couldn't identify. He stayed silent wondering if anyone else in the El Search Party had heard the voice as well but no one esle seemed to be awake. Not even Ara, who would have likely been the first person he'd suspect, stirred in her sleep.
"Do not be anxiously searching for me. I am not anywhere to be found. You and your comrades have nothing to fear," the voice spoke. Nope. This wasn't actually happening right? Sure it wasn't the first time some random voice just showed up within his mind but (y/n) didn't want to get used to such a thing. It wasn't the norm for people in general and (y/n) was already cutting it close when it came to whether or not he was to be consider still human or not.
He stood up and headed off into the surrounding area. "Who are you and why are you interrupting my sleep?" (y/n) asked, keeping his voice low so that he didn't disturb anyone else's sleep. Sleep was hard to come by for him especially after what he'd recently been through. "That's no way to speak to someone who has saved your life. I suppose that is simply your personality. You've always been like that," the voice said with a slight laugh.
This voice had saved his life? (Y/n) thought about it as he walked but suddenly stopped in his tracks as he realized exactly who this voice was. "Illipia? That's you isn't it?" he inquired feeling sort of awkward having unknowingly disrespected a goddess. "Indeed. I am Illipia. I've remained an outside factor in your life for quite some time now. Your mother is the reason that you are able to hear my voice right now," Illipia confirmed.
(Y/n) sighed and looked up at the night sky. "My mother huh. She's still out there somewhere," he muttered with a sad look. "It is clear that you desire to save her but I fear it is too late to do so. She has changed, (y/n)," Illipia said. "Don't tell me that. It's not something I want to hear. I don't care if it's too late. I'm going to try anyway. She wouldn't give up on me if our roles were switched," (y/n) said as he looked down. In that moment, he didn't even care if Illipia was a goddess.
"A sensitive topic then. I'll refrain from mentioning her but I can't stop you from meeting her and seeing for yourself. You'll find out soon. She awaits you in your next destination," Illipia sighed. (Y/n)'s mood brightened just a bit. "My mother is in Lanox? Are you sure?" he questioned. He had to know for sure so that Illipia was telling the truth since he sort of had trust issues. That's what happens when people get lied to a lot.
"I wouldn't tell you false information on a matter that you deem so important," Illipia answered. This was a relief but there were other things (y/n) had to worry about. He still had no idea what problems they were already going to face once they got to Lanox and he didn't know where Zhu was. He had a bad feeling that the fox had not completely given up on his mission to murder him.
"Illipia, why am I so important? What makes me so special to be everyone's focus? I don't get it," (y/n) said. He didn't like the fact that his life was constantly being plagued by problems and minor insecurities. Sure he started of as a normal human being but why did so much have to happen to him and not someone else? He didn't hate the power he had been givem but he didn't like what it costed him. He didn't hate living but he didn't like the pain he caused others.
"I cannot answer you until I tell you your purpose. Everyone has one whether they know it or not," Illipa replied. "Is that so. Well...sounds like a bunch of crap to me," (y/n) muttered as he kicked a small rock. "There are others things that we need to discuss but I suppose they'll have to be spoken of some time later," Illipia said. "Wait! There's something else I want to ask you!" (y/n) quickly said but he was met by silence.
"Illipia?" he called yet there was no answer. He suddenly sensed ankther presence and went on high alert only to realize that it was just one of his allies. "You should disappear on us like that. They made me go look for you," Ara complained as she walked up to him. "Sorry. Couldn't sleep," (y/n) lied. Ara seemed to sleepy to care though and didn't even suspect him of lying. He still felt sort of bad for doing so anyway.
"Next time let someone know that you're going to wander off. We heard something and thought it might have been Zhu kidnapping you again," Ara muttered as she turned back and walked away. "Nice guess but I'm sure you'd have known Zhu was around. I doubt Eun would let him get too close without doing anything," (y/n) pointed out as he followed after her. They walked in silence until the arrived back at camo where Elsword, Eve, and Ain were the only ones awake.
"Good. You're okay. I got a little worried there," Elsword said as the got back. "Couldn't sleep so I took a walk. I didn't know you guys would worry so much. I can handle myself you know," (y/n) said. Ara simply found her spot among everyone and went back to sleep. "We aren't worried about you overall. We were primarily focused on your mental well-being," Eve stated.
Elsword was the only one to give her a look of disapproval since Ain didn't understand that it wasn't correct to point such a detail out to someone. "Good to know...I guess," (y/n) said with a shrug. He honestly didn't care. "Even if you can't sleep, try to rest. We'll be getting to Lanox tomorrow so maybe the inns there will be more comfortable than outside," Elsword said. (Y/n) just gave a thumbs up and went back to his area seprate from everyone else.
He did not attempt to go back asleep and he did not rest. He couldn't. His mind wouldn't allow it and kept him awake as he considered any possibility of why his mother was in Lanox. What if he couldn't save her just as Illipia had warned him? What would he do if he was forced to fight her? He didn't know and his mind kept forcing him to search for answers.
