The Most Awaited of Days
The Most Awaited of Days:The Day of Judgement
[Surah Infitr]
When the heaven is cleft asunder.
And when the stars have fallen and scattered;
And when the seas are burst forth (got dried up),
And when the graves are turned upside down (and they bring out their contents)
(Then) a person will know what he has sent forward and (what he has) left behind (of good or bad deeds).
O man! What has made you careless concerning your Lord, the Most Generous?
Who created you, fashioned you perfectly, and gave you due proportion;
In whatever form He willed, He put you together.
Nay! But you deny the Recompense (reward for good deeds and punishment for evil deeds),
But verily, over you (are appointed angels in charge of mankind) to watch you.
Kiraman (honourable) Katibin writing down (your deeds).
They know all that you do.
Verily, the Abrar (pious and righteous) will be in delight (Paradise);
And verily, the Fujjar (the wicked, disbelievers, sinners and evil-doers) will be in the blazing Fire (Hell),
In which they will enter, and taste its burning flame on the Day of Recompense,
And they (Al-Fujjar) will not be absent therefrom (i.e. will not go out from the Hell).
And what will make you know what the Day of Recompense is?
Again, what will make you know what the Day of Recompense is?
(It will be) the Day when no person shall have power (to do) anything for another, and the Decision, that Day, will be (wholly) with Allah.
The Last Day, or the Day of Judgement, is a day in which there is no doubt. It is a day to be feared. The deeds of every single human and jinn will be brought forth in a record. Whether the deed is as small and weightless as an ant or as large and massive as the seven heavens, it will all be weighed and no one will be wronged or treated unfairly. According to ones deeds, he will either be thrown into the raging fires of Hell or peacefully welcomed into Paradise.
The Angel Israfil and the Blowing of the Horn:
The Quran states that the Last Day will not come until the horn is blown: “For when the trumpet shall sound, surely that day will be a day of anguish” (74:8–9).
Although the English translation calls it a “trumpet,” Prophet Muhammad pbuh describes it as a “horn.”
When the time comes for the Hour (the Last Day), the sounding of the horn will announce the beginning of it.
The angel in charge of blowing the horn, whose name is not given in the Quran but is known as Angel Israfil according to the Prophet's teachings, is among the highest-ranking angels, running close behind Angel Gabriel and the Angel of Death. His sole duty is to blow the horn when the Hour arrives.
When the time comes, Allah will command Angel Israfil to blow the horn. The Quran speaks about more than one blow—at least two, and possibly three.
Because the Quran only mentions two blows specifically, many scholars believe there are only two blows. However, another group says there are three blows, basing their conclusion on slightly different interpretation of the text and on the Sunnah. Whether there are two or three blows is not a major issue in Islam because all Muslims agree that the blows will first kill every living thing, then resurrect all the dead from the time of Adam to the time of the Hour.
The First Blow of the Horn:
Prophet Muhammad pbuh said that the horn will sound when the most evil people live and the world is deep in corruption.
There will be a time in which there will be no human or jinn who will remember or fear Allah. The Quran will be erased from the paper it was written on and removed from the hearts of the creation.
Allah sends a warning to humankind in the Quran: “O mankind! Fear your Lord. Lo! The earthquake of the Hour (of Doom) is a tremendous thing” (22:1).
The Quran goes on to say that when the day arrives, people will be so stunned in fright that a nursing mother will forget her nursling, and a pregnant woman will drop her burden.
When the people are occupying themselves in business, the angel called Israfil (alaiyhis-salam) will blow the Trumpet on a Friday of the tenth of Muharram. It will sound like a single blast as stated in Surah Al-Haqqah, verse 13. Some commentators say the sound will be a soft tone, at first, then it will keep increasing. All the people will be in utter confusion and panic. The sound will be so frightening and dreadful that all things having life the humans, the jinn, the birds and animals, will all tremble with fright and terror. They will all be crowding together trying to figure out what exactly is going on
In Islam, the first blow of the horn is called the Blow of Fright, as concluded from the Quran: “And (remind them of) the Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and all who are in the heavens and the earth will start in fear, except him whom Allah wills. And all come unto Him, humbled” (27:87).
The Blow of Fright is what the name implies: it will trigger a chain of universal disasters that will stun creation in fear.
"The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, you shall come forth in crowds." (An-Naba 78:18)
There will be such a violent earthquake after the first blow of the Trumpet that all buildings, all mountains, and all the trees on the earth will move from their foundations. The earth will come to an even level:
"On the Day the earth and the mountains will shake violently, and when the earth is stretched forth and has cast out all that was in it and became empty." (Al-Inshiqaq 84:3-4)
The heavens will, after splitting asunder, become a lifeless body. The mountains will become dust. The sun and the stars will lose their shine and be thrown over and will fall. The rivers and oceans will be set on fire. There will be no mountain or tree or human left. The heavens and the earth will experience a great revolution. The peaceful organized system of the universe will be destroyed and the Trumpet will be sounded for the second time.
The Second and Third Blow
The second blow is called the Blow of Death. When Angel Israfil blows the horn a second time, every living being on Earth and in the Heavens will receive a fatal shock. That's why the second blow can also be called the Stunner. Allah describes this blow in the Holy Quran:
“And the trumpet is blown, and all who are in the heavens and the earth swoon away, except him whom Allah wills” (39:68).
The Stunner (Blow) is made to kill everything, including animals, humans, demons, jinn, and angels, except a selected few as stated in the previous verse. No one knows exactly who the selected few will be; some say they are the martyrs who are mentioned in the Quran as alive and are near their Lord. Others say they are the servants and maidens of Heaven who were created for the service of Heaven's people. It is also said that the verse refers to the four angels Gabriel, Israfil, Mikail, and Azrael, along with the carriers of the Lord's throne.
However, we do not know who these people will be, the knowledge we needed to have about the Day of Judgement is given to us and we should start preparing for it, and anything else or our curiosity to anything else, will only be distracting.
The angel, Israfil (alaiyhis-salam), is the same, the Trumpet is the same, and the sound is the same, but, if two times trumpet will be blown then, in the first instance, there will destruction and annihilation. The second time there will be life and population.
And if three times trumpet was blown, then in first blow is destruction, in second, death and in third, resurrection.
But this life is not like the life the creation lived prior to dying and being raised up again. This will be a Day of, either, fear and regret or rejoice and happiness.
"Hearts, that Day, will shake with fear and anxiety. Their eyes will be down cast... " (An-Naziaat 79:8-9)
"But when there comes the greatest catastrophe; the Day when man shall remember what he strove for..." (An-Naziaat 79:34-35)
The souls will be joined with the bodies and all creation will be standing with anticipation. It will be a Day in which no one will pay heed to anyone including his or her own loved ones. Everyone will be worried about his or her ownself, remembering the deeds he or she committed.
Imagine waking up, after a slumber of only Allah knows how long, from the grave, to all of this!....
Terrors of the Day of Judgement
Allah says that the torment will befall the disbelievers,
#The Day that the sky will be like the Al-Muhl, Like the residue of oil.
#And the mountains will be like 'Ihn meaning, like fluffed wool, carded wool.
#And no friend will ask a friend, though they shall be made to see one another.
Meaning, no close friend will ask his close friend about his condition while he sees him in the worst of conditions. He will be worried about himself and will not be able to think of others.
Some of them will know others and they will be acquainted with each other. Then, they will flee from each other after that, as Allah says,
"Every man that Day will have enough to make him careless of others.'' (80:37)
#O mankind! Have Taqwa (belief, faith) of your Lord, and fear a Day when no father can avail aught for his son, and nor a son avail aught for his father. Verily the promise of Allah is true. (31:33)
#And if one heavily laden calls another to (bear) his load, nothing of it will be lifted even though he be near of kin. (35:18)
#Then, when the Trumpet is blown, there will be no kinship among them that Day, nor will they ask of one another. (23:101)
#That day shall a man flee fom his brother, and from his mother and his father, and from his wife and his children. Every man that Day will have enough to make him careless of others. (80:34-37)
#The criminal would desire to ransom himself from the punishment of the Day by his children, and his wife and his brother, and his Fasilah (kindred) who sheltered him, and all that are in the earth, so that it might save him. By no means!
No ransom will be accepted from him even if he brought all of the people of the earth (as ransom), and the greatest wealth that he could find, even if it was enough gold to fill the entire earth. Even the child that he had who was dearer to him than the last beat of his heart in the life of this world, he would wish to use the child as a ransom for himself against the torment of Allah on the Day of Judgement when he sees the horrors. However, even this child would not be accepted from him (as a ransom).
#He gathered wealth piling it up, and he concealed it, meaning he hid it and refused to give the obligatory right of Allah that was due on it of spending and paying the Zakah. It has been recorded in a Hadith that the Prophet said,
(Do not hold back (your wealth) or else Allah will hold back from you.)
#Verily, man was created very impatient, Apprehensive when evil touches him, And suppressive when good touches him, Except those who are devoted to Salah, Those who with their Salah are Da'imun, And those in whose wealth there is a recognized right, For the one who asks, and for the deprived, And those who believe in the Day of Recompense, And those who fear the torment of their Lord, Verily, the torment of their Lord is that before which none can feel secure, And those who guard their private part (chastity), Except from their wives or their right hand possessions -- for (then) they are not blameworthy, But whosoever seeks beyond that, then it is those who are trespassers, And those who keep their trusts and covenants, And those who stand firm in their testimonies, And those who are with their Salah, Yuhafizun, Such shall dwell in the Gardens, honored.
#Surah 18 Al Kahf
Allah tells us of the terrors of the Day of Resurrection, and the awesome things that will come to pass, as He says,
(On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking, And the mountains pass moving away.) (52:9-10) meaning, they will move from their places and will vanish. As Allah says:
(And you will see the mountains and think them solid, but they shall pass away as the passing away of the clouds.) (27:88)
(And the mountains will be like carded wool.) (101:5)
(And they ask you about the mountains, say: “My Lord will pulverize them scattering (their dust). To leave them as a barren plain. You will not see in it crookness or curve.) (20:105-107) Allah tells us that He will cause the mountains to vanish and be levelled, and the earth will be left as a smooth plain, a level surface with nothing crooked or curved therein, no valleys or mountains. So Allah says:
(and you will see the earth as a levelled plain, ) meaning clear and open, with no features that anyone may recognize and nothing for anyone to hide behind. All creatures will be visible to their Lord, and not one of them will be hidden from Him.
(and you will see the earth as a levelled plain,) “No one will be hidden or absent. There will be no buildings and no trees.”
(and we shall gather them, so that We will not leave one of them behind.) means, 'We shall gather them all, the first of them and the last of them, and We shall not leave anyone behind, young or old.’ As Allah says:
(Say: “(yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times. All will surely be gathered together for an appointed meeting of a known Day.) (56:49,50)
(That is a Day whereon mankind will be gathered together, and that is a Day when all will be present) (11:103).
(And they will be set before your Lord, aligned.) This may mean that all of creation will stand before Allah in one row, as Allah says:
(The Day that Ar-Ruh (Jibril) and the angels will stand aligned, they will not speak except him whom the Most Gracious (Allah) allows, and he will speak what is right) (78:38);
(And your Lord comes with the angels in rows.) (89:22)
(Now indeed, you have come to Us as We created you the first time.) This is a rebuke to those who denied the Hereafter, a reprimand before all creation. This is why Allah says to them:
(Nay, but you thought that We had appointed no meeting for you (with Us).), meaning, you did not think that this would happen to you or that it would come to pass.
(And the Book will be produced,) the Book of deeds, which contains a record of everything, major or minor, significant or insignificant, great or small.
(and you will see the criminals, fearful of that which is therein.) of their evil deeds and reprehensible actions.
(They will say, “Woe to us!”) expressing words of regret for having wasted their lives.
(What sort of Book is this that leaves neither a small thing nor a large thing, but has recorded it with numbers!) it has left no sin, major or minor, and no action, no matter how small, but it has recorded it with the utmost precision and accuracy.
(And they will find all that they did, present,) everything, both good and evil, as Allah says,
(On the Day when every person will be confronted with all the good he has done) (3:30). Allah says:
(On that Day man will be informed of what he sent forward, and what he left behind.) (75:13) And Allah says:
(The Day when all the secrets will be exposed. ) (86:9) meaning, everything that is hidden in people’s hearts will become known. Imam Ahmad recorded from Anas that the Prophet said,
(Every traitor will have a banner on the Day of Resurrection, by which he will be known.) It was also narrated in the Two Sahihs, where one narration says,
(On the Day of Resurrection, for every traitor a banner will be erected by his backside, and it will be said, “This is the betrayer of so-and-so the son of so-and-so.”)
(and your Lord treats no one with injustice.) means, He will judge between His creatures for all of their deeds, and He will not treat any of His creatures with injustice. He will overlook and forgive and have mercy, and He will punish whomever He wills by His power, wisdom and justice. He will fill Hell with the disbelievers and those who have been disobedient. Then He will rescue the disobedient, and leave the disbelievers there for eternity. He is the Judge Who never wrongs or oppresses. Allah says:
(Surely, Allah wrongs not even of the weight of a speck of dust, but if there is any good, He doubles it.) (4:40)
(And We shall set up Balances of justice on the Day of Resurrection, then none will be dealt with unjustly in anything.) Until His saying;
(to take account) (21:47) And there are many similar Ayat. Imam Ahmad recorded that 'Abdullah bin Muhammad bin 'Aqil heard Jabir bin 'Abdullah say, “I was told about a Hadith which a man heard from the Prophet pbuh , so I bought a camel and put my saddle on it, then I traveled on it for a month until I came to Ash-Sham, where 'Abdullah bin Unays was. I said to the doorkeeper, 'Tell him that Jabir is at the door.’ He said, 'Jabir bin 'Abdullah’ I said, 'Yes.’ So he came out, still putting his garment on, and embraced me, and I embraced him, and said: 'I heard a Hadith narrated by you, that you heard from the Messenger of Allah pbuh about reciprocal punishments. I was afraid that you or I would die before I could hear it.’ He said, 'I heard the Messenger of Allah pbuh say:
(Allah will gather the people — or His servants — on the Day of Resurrection, naked, uncircumcised and Buhman.) I asked, 'What is Buhman’ He said,
(They will have nothing with them. Then a voice will call out to them that will be heard by those far away just as easily as it will be heard by those near: “I am the Sovereign, I am the Judge. None of the people of Hell should enter Hell if he is owed something by one of the people of Paradise, until I have settled the matter, and none of the people of Paradise should enter Paradise if he is owed something by one of the people of Hell, until I settle the matter — even if it is only the case of a slap.”) We said, 'How will that be, when we have come before Allah barefooted, naked, uncircumcised and having nothing with us’ He said,
(By (merit for_ good deeds, and (recompense) for evil deeds.) Shu'bah narrated from Al-'Awwam bin Muzahim from Abu 'Uthman from 'Uthman bin 'Affan, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah said:
The animal who lost a horn will settle the score with the one that has horns on the Day of Resurrection.
The disbeliever will say: “Woe to me! Would that I were dust!” meaning, the disbeliever on that Day will wish that he had only been dust in the worldly life.
He will wish that he had not been created and that he had never come into existence. This will be when he sees the torment of Allah and he looks at his wicked deeds that will be written down against him by the noble righteous scribes among angels. It has been said that he will only wish for that when Allah passes judgement between all of the animals that were in the worldly life. He will rectify matters between them with His just wisdom that does not wrong anyone. Even the hornless sheep will be allowed to avenge itself against the sheep with horns.
Then, when the judgement between them is finished, He (Allah) will say to them (the animals), “Be dust.” So they will all become dust. Upon witnessing this the disbeliever will say,
(Would that I were dust!) meaning, 'I wish I was an animal so that I would be returned to dust.’
to be continued......
(Next chapter, would be about the disbelievers and believers on the day of Judgement inSha Allah)
