Annabeth's pov

I was alone in my cabin. 

The beds were neatly made; grey sheets flattened out, with dark grey pillows stacked methodically in order based on size. The bookshelves lining the walls were unusually clean, with books ordered by authors last name, and the owl bookends perfectly lined up with one another. 

There were no scattered papers or post it notes. The books didn't have anything sticking out from the pages, and the floor wasn't littered with copied files or textbooks. I sat up straight in my bed, blonde hair falling messily over my eyes. With a sigh, I slid out from underneath the covers and pulled on my shorts. 

I had wore Percy's sweatshirt to bed, but I must've taken it off halfway through the night due to the heat, as I was now wearing a crop top with the words nap queen written in huge font. Yawing slightly, I stood in front of the wall mirror and tried to tame my bed head hair by pulling it into a messy bun. I bent over, and as I was gathering up the blonde strands in my hand, I saw something shine from the corner of the room. 

Quickly wrapping the hair tie around my hair, I turned around to get a better look at the thing that was shining so bright. I shuffled over to the corner, feet groaning in agony against the cold wood floor. Shifting into a squat, I peered at the small symbol that was glowing a bright red. It looked like a sun, but instead of rays of light there were arrows. And the center was a circle cut into four pieces.

It looked to be carved into the wall, but I had definitely never seen it before. Shrugging slightly, I checked the clock on the dresser and saw that it was only two in the morning. Shaking my head in defeat, I resulted in going back to sleep and trying to figure it out in the morning. 

As I walked back to my bed, I saw that there was already someone in it laying facing the wall. I couldn't see her face, but she had blonde hair so it was probably Natasha or Skyler. It was strange though, I hadn't heard her come in, and the bed is so creaky I would have definitely heard it if she climbed in. 

Yawning once more, I rolled my shoulders back trying to loosen up my tired muscles, and reached out my hand to roll her over and tell her to get out of my bed. I pulled her shoulder, and as she fell onto her back I let out a bloodcurdling scream. 

It was me. I was laying in my bed, and my face was a sickly pale. I had little burn marks all over my body, and random cuts that were dripping with blood. The worst part was my stomach. It was a glowing red, and it looked like someone had tried to carve something into my skin. I couldn't make it out, but the longer I looked at it the more I screamed. 

The sheets on the bed were slowly turning dark red, and when I looked down at my hand I saw a cut spreading up my arm, and blood pooling to the floor. When the cut reached my shoulder it burst into flame, and I screamed even louder at the pain it caused. Soon, my other shoulder was alight, and my clothes were slowly starting to catch.

I yelled for someone, anyone to help, but the roar of the fire was too loud. My body, after fully catching fire, collapsed to the ground where I writhed in pain for what felt like hours before I heard the voice. 

It was soft, almost a whisper, but it the tone was harsh and cold. Over and over it whispered, "You're next," "You're next," and with a final scream, my eyes closed, and I...

Bolted up in bed. Tears were streaming down my face, and my entire cabin was staring at me. Percy was kneeling next to my pillow a tear dripping down his face. 

"Annie, oh Annie, " He grabbed me in his arms and held me to his chest while I cried. I could hear his heart beating at a rate that could not possibly be healthy. He climbed onto the bed and pulled me into his lap, stroking my hair as he whispered that it was going to be alright. That everything was going to be ok. 

But when I looked up into his eyes, and saw nothing but the strange mark vibrating from his sockets, I closed my eyes tightly and cried. This time, I wasn't sure that he was right.
