26: CHARADE.

I dare you to comment on each paragraph for update tomorrow💀

KANO STATE, NIGERIA.

"What happened?" Amirah widened her eyes for emphasis, as if she doesn't know what they are about to tell her. As if she isn't the sole person their eyes are producing so much histrionics.

"You won't believe who came." Jihan exaggerated, her hands akimbo while her eyes widened in sheer surprise as if she thought she was the only one that saw Amirah coming into the chamber. It makes her want to laugh, for real.

Amirah's eyes peppered with amusement and forced curiosity, she kept going. "C'mon, I'm super duper curious right now. What did I miss so intriguing?" She played along, her eyes shining with the curiosity she really feels now. She wants to know what they think about Amirah's visit to the chamber and if they still hated her or want to compliment her.

"Amirah came." Aidah dropped the bomb, rocking on her heels with a sly smile, as if she can't wait for her reaction and Amirah tried her best to give the most astonished reaction she could ever act on. If she doesn't look surprised, they'd suspect something so she manage to look wraith-like.

Her eyes rounded, lips slackened along with her jaw then she licked her lips after awhile and decided to ask what they expect her to. "You mean her Highness, Amirah? Like, the one who married Prince Imad and got divorced after a day?" Lubabatu nodded hysterically. "That Amirah?" She gave herself a pat on the back, she did really act it out.

"Yes, that Amirah." Mansurah affirmed. "She came along with other two girls, I think they are her friends but they said they work with Prince Imad now at the office. I couldn't believe my ears when they said that and from the looks of it, her Highness have no idea they work together. I mean, I can already feel her jealousy from here." Mansurah rambled afraid that if she does not say everything she's heard earlier, it'd flew away before she could grasp it

"Yes, and she is his personal assistant. How did that even happen? How do they work together after been married for a day? Ha, this is a mystery I want to personally solve." Aidah looks visibly pained at not able to solve this mystery. It shall forever be that to her, she is no one but a maid and can't just go and interview them. She would if given the chance, she is sure of that.

"Wow, this is totally unexpected." Amirah breathed, eyes still wide and she is sure she looks comical with that reaction. They weren't done talking though, they kept going on as if influx with this talking gas.

"And she saw a photo of theirs with prince Imad in the living room. I don't know where that came from because I never saw it when I was cleaning. As if someone threw it there and she saw it instantly." Jihan narrowed her eyes in that way she does when she wants to investigate. Amirah won't lie, those eyes like that always makes her squirm in discomfort. It is as if she knows her secret but plays along, that is not Jihan's style though.

She would've bursted her out had she known, she keeps nothing in. Or maybe she wants to be sure? It irks her not knowing what the lady thinks, she is intelligent.

"And then she said something to her Highness making her look uncomfortable, it is as if they knew each other way back. I think they've met before now, it was not too pleasant." Lubabatu chirped from the end, chatting through her phone really fast that it makes Amirah wonder when the girl started using phone. She got it last week, she sneaked it actually through a guard and the trouble she'd get in when caught isn't good.

"Whoa, I wish I was here to witness that. When did that happen no one called me?" She made a pained expression while looking at her closest friend Aidah but she gave a sheepish smile.

"I was caught off guard since I opened the door for them. I swear I almost lost consciousness because I didn't want to believe Amirah is in the chamber and when I found out she works for Prince Imad now, I couldn't think rationally. I want to find out more, seriously." Aidah sheepishly explained to Amirah, still bouncing with curiosity.

"I really want to find out why they went their separate ways when they were so in love. That was the youngest sweetest marriage I've ever seen in the city. We were anticipating little cute babies in a few years only to hear about their divorce just the next day." Amirah stiffened unexpectedly, she don't want to but she cannot help it.

Why are people so curious about what has happened now? They were all quick to judge her for leaving him and now they want to act all concerned after meeting her once? Are these people for real or do they have some sort of mental disorder? They all think she made Imad whoever he became and that it was all her fault they aren't together. She didn't doubt that but the fact still remains that they don't know anything from the past but are judging when they don't have the jurisdiction to do so!

"Only God knows, Prince Imad wouldn't talk. Not even her Majesty could bring it out from him and Amirah disappeared poof until today." Jihan shrugged, as though she is not more than curious about the failed marriage that was once filled with hefty spoonfuls of love and adoration.

"You know what I'm just noticing, guys?" Mansurah inquired, eyes focused on Amirah's face making her heart thud loudly in her chest, hurting the walls around, reawakening it from it's supineness.

"What?" All the girls turn around to stare at Amirah, she dug her nails into her palms to stop herself from running away or turning around. The way they are staring at her, they could easily point out she is Amirah and not Ameena which is unnerving. She is almost heaving but managed to operate her head in time to stop and schooled her expression to perfection. If only it was that easy.

"Ameena looks ridiculously like Amirah, you know that? I'm just seeing the bits of features after meeting her face to face. It is unorthodox. Are you sure you guys are not related?" Mansurah dropped the bomb and Amirah released a harsh breath since for a moment, she thought her cover was going to get blown like that.

Whew, she escaped yet again with flying eagles but it is not going to keep happening.

"I've already known that they look alike, just never bother acting on it." Jihan brushed it off, arranging the tumblers back where they should be and wine glasses too in different cabinet. The girls have work but they are there gossiping like typical chamberers.

"I met a lady just before I came in and she also asked for Prince Imad and I told her he wasn't home because I knew he won't be home at this hour." She dropped her bag by the end of the kitchen close to the sumptuous Meneghini La Cambusa refrigerator so no one can open it and find something they shouldn't. Not that she would risk putting anything that will land her in trouble.

"Lol, I don't know what to think now. Are we not going to cook anything today?" Aidah dropped the whole topic about Amirah and their master along with mistress knowing the woman might come in any moment.

"After Ameena cooked yesterday, it led to hot make out session that was taken to the bedroom so I think someone should do it today. Maybe she used some seductive stuff inside." Lubabatu laughed at her own joke the other chortling because they half believed she witched the food. Ha, if only they knew what she did to the food to get that reaction from him.

"What are you guys insinuating? I did no such thing." She grinned, opening the refrigerator in search of leftover but she couldn't find any so she brushed it off thinking the girls ate it before she arrived.

"About the meeting tomorrow, it's adjoined to next week since all the department heads will be heading to Bari then for the tour. Dad wants to have his branch there as soon as possible hence, the hurry." Salim explained to Imad as they made their way out of the company, done for the day.

"The sooner the better I think, so go for it." Imad encouraged though his attention is not there with him, it's where he knew he shouldn't get to but he has no control over his own emotions and heart.

"You are coming with us, man." Salim chuckled when Imad scrunched his brows looking flummoxed at the news. He has no intention in leaving the country anytime soon, he wants to enjoy his country or is it the hometown or something else? Whatever, he wants to stay there in his borough.

"Why? No one told me about it and my work shouldn't take me there. I mean, finance have nothing to do with finding location. Besides, I'm not a connoisseur in site seeing." He raised a brow, standing right close to his BMW 540i car at the underground parking lot.

"You are also a department head which means your presence is needed there. Besides, uncle thinks you need to focus on each step taken by the company so you can learn new strategies. You can take either your secretary or personal assistant, whichever one you want." Salim bid him adieu not wanting to see the look of uncertainty again on his face. This is where Amirah will have to be in the options, which will he chose now?

Throwing away all work related stuff back there at the parking lot, he sped out and made his way to the palace. He's totally forgotten about Jannah Mia when he was supposed to see her earlier in the morning before leaving for work. She was sleeping, he's called her several times but she didn't answer and knowing her with sleep, he knew that was what she was doing. He braced himself for her craziness yet welcomed the change.

"You always forget about me." She kvetch, eyes searing daggers his way as soon as he settled himself inside her chamber. She was watching one of those k-dramas she is obsessed with, K2.

"I called you countless of times and got maids to be here with you in case you need something. That is not forgetting you, complainer." He rolled his eyes parodying her but made himself comfortable on a corn century couch in the living room.

The chamber consists of two bedrooms, a living room, dining room and kitchen. There are three of them arranged and meant for the guests, he totally forgot to tell his mother about his guest and she is definitely going to find out if she hasn't already. He's been keeping his distance with his whole family after that dinner that went wrong. He knew just how persistent his older sister is so he tries his best to stay away from her path do she won't disturb him.

He is not trying with that though, she keeps trying to gauge out his location and track him down. She wanted to come down to his office from the hospital earlier but he told her he's left and have places to be just to avoid the confrontation that might just turn into parley. He won't be doing that all the time though, the game will come to an end soon. If he loves getting chased at, then it won't be from his sister because she never gives up. That is how she conquered her husband anyway.

"Whatever. I told one cute maid to tell you I wanted to see you but she cannot give the message and told your guards. Did they tell you to come here?" She adjust her cotton shirt and unfold the edges of her jeans and sat down on the floor Indian style. She is currently eating popcorn, her MacBook closed beside her.

"I came here straight, so no."

"Oh. That maid was really cute though. Why not introduce me to your wife? It's high time we meet each other, don't you think?" She grinned, showing her whole teeth like a Cheshire cat but she is serious about meeting his wife.

They met in Chicago when she was struggling to set out her mother's bakery business and she stumbled upon a very drunk Imad talking to himself at the street. She helped him into her shop and ask him to spend the night there then the next morning, he could go home. He couldn't remember his own address because he was drunk shitless, not even his name could he tell her. She was disappointed when she found out he was a Muslim but didn't judge him.

Since then, they became friends because he helped the business grow and he became a regular customer of theirs. Her mother was very fond of him and had he not been married and heartbroken, she was sure the woman would've played matchmaker with her. She is glad though, she don't want the smithereens this so called Amirah left. The woman he married is not the one he loves so she didn't want to meet her at first but now she does.

She's heard him talking about Amirah the very day she met him talking to himself. He was talking about this so called Amirah but nothing he said made sense so she stopped listening to his mumbles and onomatopoeic sounds and enshroud him with a cool duvet on the old sofa that's seen better days, in their bakery. All she knows is that this Amirah woman got a large space in his heart though she's shattered his big golden heart. Jannah would want to see this woman.

He didn't show her anything, not even her photo. He is very secretive when it comes to Amirah, as if he is trying to save her from the world by doing so.

"Why not?" He stood up instantly, his height towering over her own small perched figure on the floor so she hastily mimicked his move.

"So eager to introduce us huh?" She giggled, taking off the onyx abaya she removed earlier after strolling around the palace and meeting the cute maid. She feels familiar though Jannah could swear she's never seen anyone that looks like her or she'd never forgot.

"Nah, because I know you will keep persisting till I do so which is what I'm evading." He gave a sarcastic smile which she returned with eyes filled with disbelieve and a mild glare he won't notice but he did.

"I'm not so eager to see your wife but your chamber and that cute maid. I bet your wife isn't half as beautiful as me, so why worry?" She teased, buttoning up her abaya then bending down to take it's veil from the floor and close her head with it.

"Whatever helps you sleep at night, Jay." He laughed before making his way out of the chamber and she followed in tow. She is literally skipping one or two steps eagerly like a little kid. Well, she is just twenty years old which she considered terribly young.

"Hey, Usayma, this is my friend Jannah Mia. And Jannah, this is my wife, Usayma." Imad introduced then slipped away from the room to their bedchamber to get dressed and remove those constricting suit and slacks.

"Well, this is awkward and so like Imad. He's told me a lot about you and good things." Jannah sat down on one of the sofas opposite Usayma whose brows are scrunched in confusion but relaxed after hearing the compliment from Jannah.

She doesn't understand why Imad's female friends are just coming in and out of their home today though.
