Chapter 28 - Millennium Dawn
Jiro and Yomi reunited with the three middle school friends they made while overseas after three whole years. With all pieces now in place, the band: MILLENNIUM is born.
Early morning...
Haneda International Airport
Jiro POV
As myself, Yomi, and Marina wait near the Circle minivan, three individuals exited the arrival terminal and made their way towards us. After some quick greetings, we all decided to get some coffee at a cafe beside the airport while to do our introductions.
Jiro: Marina, These three individuals are the other three members of my new band.
Marina: It's nice to meet you all, I'm Jiro-kun, and Yomi-chan's boss. My name is Marina Tsukishima.
Brown Haired Boy: Hello and good to meet you, Marina-san. My name is Raizo Kanoe. Drums are my specialty.
Marina: His eyes, they remind me of Raana-chan... are you sure they're...
Jiro: No relation, I assure you.
Kind Looking Girl: My name is Yuna Ajitani, I'm our band's new Rhythm Guitarist.
Marina: She has Taki-chan's looks as well as Aya-chan's voice.
Yomi: And finally...
Girl with glasses: Hello there, Marina-san. My name is Hiyori Ehara, I do vocals
Marina: She's looks like Lisa-san with short hair and glasses.
Yomi: With incredible fashion sense as well.
Raizo: She's gonna be the one who brings our music to life.
Marina: I got to say, the bands we know to have literal colorful characters with different hair colors. You guys seem ordinary... in a good way.
Yomi: I guess no one of us was born with pink or silver hair.
Marina: Hehe. Anyway, I'll drop off their luggage to concierge at the condo they'll be staying in. Before that, I'll drop you five off at RiNG.
One hour later...
Live-House RiNG
After the introductions concluded, Marina drove all five of us to RiNG, where I used a conference room to present the plan I have for my new band. Sitting around a table, I grabbed a stack of papers and distributed them to everyone.
Jiro: Glad you all answered my call.
Hiyori: We haven't seen you or Yomi-chan in three years. Of course, we'd answer.
Raizo: Should we discuss roles?
Jiro: Raizo on drums, Yomi on Bass, Yuna on Keyboard, myself on Guitar, and Hiyori on Vocals?
Hiyori: Shouldn't Yomi-chan do vocals?
Yuna: She does have a better singing voice, no offense.
Hiyori: Oh, no taken.
Jiro: True, but Hiyori's tone of voice better suits the song we'll be playing.
Raizo: Also, Yomi-chan is better playing the bass than singing.
Yomi: I'm inclined to agree.
Jiro: Alright. So our band name. Is everyone cool with it?
Yuna: I like MILLENNIUM... sounds modern and noble.
Raizo: Do we have a logo yet.
Jiro: Already created one. Check it out!
Hiyori: Love it!
Raizo: Simple and minimalist.
Yuna: Cool design.
Yomi: It will be easy for people to remember.
Jiro: Alright, costumes. Yomi, I'll let you handle this one.
Yomi: Thank you, bro. I designed our costumes to be simple and modern, just like our logo... actually, that's our whole theme... here's the diagram.
Raizo: I dig these threads.
Yuna: We two really thought this one out, didn't you?
Hiyori: I'm so excited to start practicing already!
Jiro: How about we make our debut tomorrow evening? RiNG is hosting a MyGO and Roselia live. We could sneak in at the end and give the crowd a surprise.
Raizo: What song should we do?
Hiyori: How about ZERO!!!
Yomi: Oh, that one?
Yuna: I mean, do we all still know how to play that song? Three years is a long time.
Jiro: There's rental equipment in studio two. Let's see...
As we all picked up our instruments, we all felt a sense of excitement. As Raizo and I began the song with my guitar and his drums, Hiyori began to sing passionately as Yomi and Yuna backed up our music with their bass and rhythm guitar.
Jiro: Yuna, since when did you play rhythm? I thought you played the keyboard?
Yuna: To be honest, I got tired of piano practice. Therefore, I bought a rhythm guitar instead. Of course, I can still play the keyboard.
Jiro: Well, okay then. Let's get started.
After finishing the song, we all looked at each other, shocked by how we were able to play almost perfectly after so long.
Hiyori: Despite a few hiccups, not bad...
Yuna: That felt good...
Yomi: I feel alive...
Raizo: Do you all know what this means?
Jiro: Yeah... we're now a band.
As the excitement and adrenaline wore off, all of us decided to take a break before practicing again. As we sat around and adjusted out the rentals, my friends began to ask their catch-up questions.
Yuna: So, what have you two been up to in Japan?
Yomi: School and work mostly.
Raizo: Where do you guys attend and work?
Jiro: Hanasakigawa Academy and Live-House Circle... the other franchise location of RiNG.
Hiyori: Hanasakigawa?
Yomi: It's weird. Big bro is the only boy in the whole school.
Raizo: That's a joke, right?
Yomi: Nope, a boy in an all girl school.
Yuna: How is that allowed?!
Jiro: My aunt owns and runs the academy. Officially, the academy claims it's testing for co-ed opportunities... so the board doesn't kick me out.
Hiyori: You must be drowning in girls, Jiro-kun.
Yomi: Nope, he's spoken for!
Hiyori: What...? What do you mean he's spoken for...?
As my little sister noticed Hiyori-chan's annoyed expression, Yomi's signature smug smile appeared on her face.
Yomi: Yes, they're so cute together.
Hiyori: Who is this girl...?
Yomi: You'll meet her eventually. Do you know what they did one night? Oh, wait. They did twice now.
Jiro: Hey! No! Bad sister!
Raizo: What did they do?
Yomi whispered something into Raizo's ear that made him blush.
Raizo: Oh... okay...
Yuna: A-anyway, could you tell us more about her?
Jiro: Her name is Tomori Takamatsu. She's the vocalist for MyGO!!!!
Yuna: Wait, that band who was featured on Footprints?!
Jiro: The very same.
Yuna: And you're dating the vocalist?!
Raizo: Good for you, man.
Hiyori: Hmph!
Jiro: She was really shy when we first met. Over time, she slowly broke out of her shell... we've already been through so much together in a short amount of time. Honestly, she's like a penguin.
Yuna: A penguin?
Jiro: She likes collecting rocks, similar to a certain species of penguins that collects pebbles to give to their desired partner.
Raizo: Aww.
Yomi: They've been very lovey dovey recently.
Jiro: Comforting the Tomorin is part of my daily routine.
Hiyori: After all you said, I've gotta meet this girl...
Raizo: Anyway, we should get back to practicing. We're playing tomorrow, so let's get to it, right leader?
Jiro: Yeah, let's go.
As we continue to perfect the song we planned to display tomorrow evening, we eventually got it down and felt prepared to have our first band performance. When I got home, I went to the bottom on my closet and pulled out a case my father sent me a while ago. Inside was my custom-made guitar... a gift from my parents.
Jiro: It's been a minute, huh?
I sat on the side of the bed and played a tune. The sound that the guitar emitted gave me hope and the drive to make this band successful. I placed the guitar back into its carrying bag and leaned it against the wall.
The following day...
Live-House RING
Tomori POV
Our joint live with Roselia was a massive success. Every other band was here in attendance, cheering us on as they listened to the songs we played.
Yukina and her band played their song called: Neo Aspect, while MyGO played Mayoi Uta, Senpai's favorite song. As we made our way off the stage after our performance, the lights in the venue space suddenly shut off, and turquoise coloured spotlights began to shine onto five spots on stage. As smoke machines covered the stage, five silhouettes appeared as the lights highlighted their figures through the plum. Once the smoke cleared, five musicians readied themselves on stage... the surprise band included two familiar people.
Anon: Tomorin, is that?
Tomori: Yomi-senpai and Jiro-senpai.
Soyo: He has a band?
Lisa: Ha! I knew he could do it!
Yukina: Jiro!
Ako: Jiro-nee! Whoo!
As the other bands girls stood there in complete shock, Jiro's band started to play their song, with Jiro himself performing a mini electric guitar segment.
ZERO!! - By MILLENNIUM
As Jiro and his band played through our song, the girls waved their glowsticks in an energetic fashion. Outgoing girls like Kasumi, Hina, Kokoro, Anon, and Touko led others like cheerleaders. I stood there in excitement as Jiro-senpai and his new band performed on stage. He looked so happy playing his guitar. As I look towards the others, they seem happy, especially Sayo-senpai and Yukina-senpai, who looked very proud of her childhood friend. After their amazing performances came to its end, the crowd erupted into loud cheers. When Senpai and his band eventually met up with us, I immediately ran up to Jiro-senpai, pulling him into a tight hug.
Jiro: Whoa! Hi, Tomo-chan.
Tomori: You were amazing!
Soyo: Did you finally put on your big boy pants, Senpai?
Jiro: Yeah, I guess I did.
Yukina: What changed Jiro?
Jiro: What do you mean?
Yukina: What changed your mind to finally start a band?
Yomi: Don't look at me, I'm just here for the ride.
Jiro: I guess, some parental pressure, and a look at my old guitar.
Sayo: I'm happy that you're finally starting to help yourself instead of others.
Jiro: Funny, that speech is usually the other way around.
Lisa: Any words to say to all of us?
Jiro: Our songs will finally reach the sky above! We shall rise and be known as MILLENNIUM.
Jiro-senpai and his band looked very confident in their abilities. Seeing this only fuel my desire to make MyGO a success that will carry on for a lifetime. Therefore, MyGO decided to announce something to the others.
Taki: Senpai... you and your band have talent.
Anon: All of us see that.
Tomori: MyGO will now become the rivals to MILLENNIUM!
Soyo: I can use this to insult you freely.
Raana: I don't want to fight Senpai. He gives me treats.
Taki: Suck it up, Stray Cat!
Raana: Aww...
Lisa: Mind if we jump in as well?
Tomori: Of course.
Yukina: So will Roselia!
Aya: I know it's a friendly rivalry, but this feels intense.
Chiyu: Wanna sit this one out Mitake-san?
Ran: We'll think about it...
Rei: That's not like you Chu², I figured you want to challenge them as well.
Chiyu: There are band not a girl band. It's not the same.
Yomi: Would this really be a rivaly? I mean, Big Bro and Tomori-chan are together and sleep in the same bed.
Taki: I mean, competition does keep things fresh.
Lisa: Why is that an issue?
Yomi: Jiro is usually halfway down Tomori throat... some rivalry this is...
Kasumi: What is she talking about?
Yomi: You Haneoka girls probably seen Tomori-chan walk around with a limp before, right?
Anon: Yeah...
Yomi: Well, you see.
Jiro: Yomi! Don't!
Yomi: Tomori has been very out of characters... especially behind closed doors.
Taki: Wait, does she mean you did it with Tomori?
Jiro: No comment...
Tomori: Yeah, no need to explain, Senpai... but, c-could you be a little more gentle next time...?
Jiro: Tomori!
Tomori: Uh-oh...
Band Girls: EEEEHHHHH!!!
Taki: What did you do to Tomori who punk!?
Sayo: Jiro-kun?!
Anon: I knew that's where the limp came from!
Touko: Senpai, you animal!
Hiyori: I thought we had something special?!
Jiro: I haven't seen you in three years! Calm your load!
Yomi: Sorry, not sorry...
Jiro: YOMI! YOU MENACE!!!
As the internet caught wind of the band called MILLENNIUM, a certain blue haired girl watched on her phone in anger at what she saw. In her fury, she called off the hiatus and forcibly brought Ave Mujica back together to challenge the boy who was once called The Dollmaker...
Sakiko: Senpai... I'll make you pay...
To be continued...
Authors Notes:
For this particular side story, MyGO and Roselia will be more present than the other characters. I intend to have my other OCs not be too involved in the main plot, just to not keep things to confusing.
Do you think MILLENNIUM will fall into Ave Mujica's cross hairs?
As always, thank you for reading!!!
