Chapter Three

"You shouldn't have gone to him at first," Shanaya said to Varnika, giving her a disgusted look.

"I'm sorry," she replied, her voice was low.

"I'm glad you did go there, at least his fake personality got off," I said and gave her a smile.

I knew right now Varnika was feeling miserable because had it not been her, the circumstances would have been totally different. Shanaya on the other hand just simply nodded.

"I hope you're not angry with me," Varnika said while looking at both of us.

"No, we're not. But what is it with you? Do you like Viren?" I questioned her, at first her eyes went wide but then she had a blush on her face that answered my question.

That was one of the things I loved about Varnika, she couldn't hide what she felt. Be it any kind of feeling, hatred, love or liking. Another thing was, three of us didn't lie to each other about anything.

There might be things about Shanaya or I that Varnika wouldn't be aware of, but if she ever got to know about it and questioned - we had to tell the truth because we couldn't lie. On the other hand, even if Shanaya and I wanted to hide things from each other we couldn't because we had that curiousity to share things with someone and that someone for her was me, and vice versa. So we always ended up telling each other everything.

"Someone's red hot right now," Shanaya said in a mocking tone.

"Shut up," Varnika said while trying to act normal.

"It's not like I have a chance anyway, he likes you," she continued and her tone had disappointment clear in her voice.

"How can someone like anyone without even knowing them?" It was me who spoke up this time, Karan did say Viren was interested in me. But what made him have an interest in me was still a question.

Only two people could answer this question to me, either Karan or Viren.

The only two people I wanted to talk to last on this earth.

"Maybe it's about appearance sometimes," Shanaya said cutting off my mental trail. Her words only made me scoff.

"Hey, it's not like I'm crazy about that guy. I just find him cute, that's it. We shouldn't talk about this topic anymore," Varnika said having a smile on her face.

For a fact, I knew Varnika could never go crazy about one boy. Whoever she found cute, hot or sexy was termed as her 'new crush' but for some unknown reason it made me feel weird that the guy who is my closest friend's crush is interested in me.

Shanaya and I just simply nodded at what Varnika said and let the topic go, after which three of us parted our ways and went to our cabs.

It was not that my house was far away from the school, fifteen minutes walking distance wasn't much but then there were days when which went so hectic that I didn't have the strength to walk home, considering those days my parents thought better to hire a cab for me.

When I came back home, there was a note sticked on the door of my room which said my mother was off to shopping and that the lunch was ready in the kitchen, all I had to do was reheat it in the microwave.

I quickly changed from my uniform, had a shower after which I ate my lunch and went straight to bed. I was a kind of person who slept a lot on school days, and I badly needed one hour nap after school.

I dozed off to sleep just after few minutes I got into the bed.

I woke up to my brother shouting at someone, I opened one eye to see who it was just to find my brother cursing at someone on the phone.

I helped myself sit on the bed and when I was rubbing my eyes a yawn escaped my lips which made my brother's attention snap at me.

"I'll call later," he said in the speaker and hung up on the phone.

"What's up?" I asked him.

"Nothing," he said and brushed of the topic completely.

I hated the fact that my brother and I never had a good relationship, we always lacked communication and the worst of all was I could never look up to him at my bad times because half of the times it was because of him I ended up in bad circumstances.

But when it came to him, I always looked forward to helping him in any way I could just to prove him I can be a good sister but he never seemed to notice.

By his harsh tone, something I could detect was that whatever was troubling him was related to Ananya, his girlfriend.

It really shocked me when Vaibhav, my brother told my mother about his girlfriend, not that he's bad looking and cannot date someone. He's tall, fair, and has a great personality all over but the fact that he could fall in love with someone was weird.

He was totally whipped when it came to Ananya, he was over possessive about her, cared for her from the bottom of his heart, and when it came to loving her - the person he was around that girl was not my brother for sure.

I couldn't think of my brother caring and loving a girl as much but when Ananya came to his life, he became a better person.

Maybe it was something about Ananya that made him have a positive aspect towards life, she was as beautiful as an angel would be. She had the perfect white tanned skin, was equally tall as my brother, and cherry on the top was her perfect smile. She was very polite and kind hearted and I loved her.

"You sure you don't want to talk about it?" I asked him again only to get a look from him which said 'shut your mouth and mind your own business'.

I didn't talk to him after that and got out of my bed to get ready for my class.

Taking economics instead of History was something I regret, but to start with it - it wasn't even my decision to take economics, that was the first thing my parents asked me to do of their choice and I simply couldn't deny it. Economics was much tougher than History and therefore I badly needed an economics tuition.

I collected my books and left for tuition, just when I crossed one street someone caught my eye and a big smile instantly made it's way to my face. He saw me coming and waved at me - he was the only guy whom I could rely on and trust blindly without having to fear about getting it broken. The guy who had been my support in the worst circumstances and I know would always be there for me, and I for him.

"Hey," he said and gave a quick friendly hug when I approached him.

"Hi," Just a look at his adorable face and my day instantly got better.

Nishant was my best friend from as long as I could recall - we grew together and have been each other's support at the worst of times. Nishant was a charming guy, and he was very attractive.

Dark brown hair of his were always made up in some sort of spikes and that totally suited his face - his eyes were those lightest colour of brown, when you looked at them for more than five seconds it appeared a shade of green. He was fair in complexion, and had that perfect smile and cherry on the top was his one dimple which made him even more attractive.

"Are you not coming to the class?" I asked when I realized he was not carrying his bag. We went to different school but Nishant and I went to the same tuition, the only difference was he was a commerce student but economics was our common subject.

"I've to go somewhere with mom," he replied.

"Oh," Today's class was going to be boring if Nishant wasn't a part of it.

"I promise to meet you at 8 after you get free from the class and I come back, meet me in garden," he said, I might be frowning.

"Sure, I'll leave I'm going to get late," I said and he nodded.

Tuition got over at it's usual time and I made my way to my home.

When I was about to open the door I heard someone call out my name I turned back to see Nishant making his way towards me.

"I thought you had to go somewhere,"

"Well, I came back early," he said.

"Awww, just to spend more time with me? That's very sweet of you," I tried to tease him, trying to hide my smile.

"Sure sure, stop pleasing yourself," Nishant was blushing and I giggled at his reaction.

"Well, I'll just be back in two minutes," I said still smiling and he nodded.

I quickly got in and went to my room, left my books on the study table and made my way to my parent's room.

"Hey mom," I said giving her a tight hug, my mother was the most kind person I have ever known and I loved her.

"Heyy!" she said.

"Bye mom," I said and laughed at our short conversation.

My mother gave me a look before speaking, "Where're you upto?"

"Nishant is waiting outside. I'll be in the park with him, call me if you need something," with that I left the house.

Nishant was leaning against the main door, lost deep in thought and taking the advantage I took the silent step and went nearer to him, thankfully he didn't notice me coming.

I just got a bit near to his ear and squeaked. Nishant jumped and almost tripp and watching him like that - his cheeks flushed and all, I couldn't help myself from laughing. He then looked at the source of his misery and tried to glare at me but failed when he cracked a smile.

"What the hell was that?" He asked trying to maintain his composure.

I didn't reply and just smirked at him. Just before he could say something my phone started ringing. I took my phone out of my pocket and stared at screen - there was no name just an unknown number. I tried to recall if I knew the number but my mind was blank.

Watching my expression Nishant spoke up, "Who's it?"

"I don't know," I answered honestly.

"Answer it," he said and I did just that.

"Hello," the person on the other side of the phone was a guy. "Can I talk to Tanvi Kapoor?" The stranger asked.

"Yes, it is Tanvi here. May I know who's speaking?" I questioned, confusion was clear in my voice.

Hardly any of my guy classmates had my number and even if anyone of them had, I made sure it never got passed on to anyone else. I just wanted people to respect my privacy.

"Tanvi, it's Viren," he said and with that my mind got totally blank.
