Part 27: Happiness Has Its Price.
Episode # 27:- (Happiness Has Its Price)
LAST EPISODE
The sun indeed has the power to illuminate the world even through a tiny crack. But it also waits for the darkness of the night or the clouds to clear. Everything happens in its own time.
Happiness comes into everyone's life, but its duration can vary—sometimes lasting a long time, and sometimes only for a brief moment. It all depends on one's fate—whether it brings happiness after sadness or sadness after happiness.
As he sat in the hospital room, holding his soulmate's hand, Sanskar reflected on his life. At over 30 years old, he had lived through more than many people experience in a lifetime. For some, life truly begins after 30, but Sanskar's journey has been different.
Born with a silver spoon, Sanskar's fate dealt him a harsh hand, forcing him to mature quickly. He didn't get to enjoy a typical childhood, as he took on the responsibility of caring for his younger brother. Despite this, he embraced the role with a sense of duty and love.
His suffering began at the age of 8, and since then, he has endured many trials—whether it was the responsibility of his brother, his friends, or Swara. Sanskar faced all the challenges without a frown, but now, the one who had the power to wrap him around her finger lay unconscious before him.
The one who was the peace of his heart was in a deep slumber. The one whose smile brightened his days had no expression on her face. The one whose loving gaze could make him forget all his worries was not looking at him.
Sanskar held Swara's hand tightly and kissed her knuckles. They had managed to overcome the final obstacle of their lives—the root of Swara's troubled past. Yet, as the saying goes, everything has its price, and they are paying that price now.
Swara fought bravely, saved Sanskar, and rescued everyone, but she couldn't save herself. She couldn't fulfill her promise to Sanskar that she would never let anyone hurt her.
Sanskar, with a bandage on his head and small wounds from the fight, spoke to Swara with a heavy heart. "Swara, you know I can't live without you, even for a second. I know I've been harsh with you sometimes, but it was only for your good."
He paused, his voice trembling. "Today, I'm sorry for everything—the restrictions, the scolding. Please, come back to me." His plea was interrupted when he felt a hand on his shoulder. Looking up, he saw Shekhar standing there, tears in his eyes. Despite his grief, Shekhar composed himself upon seeing Sanskar's condition. He saw the same broken Sanskar he had seen 21 years ago, begging for help to save his brother.
In a choked voice, Sanskar pleaded, "Uncle, please wake her up. Tell her I won't scold her anymore. Please, Uncle." He broke down, his cries echoing through the room. He was shattered, and this time, his secret keeper was not there to support him. Today, he was broken beyond repair.
Flashback:-
Sanjeev was finally finished. Sanskar came out with Swara in his arms, lost in his thoughts, when suddenly Swara, whom he thought was sleeping, started breathing heavily. Sanskar, without wasting a second, laid her down and checked her pulse, which was decreasing.
Sanskar, shouting: "Start the car! We have to take her to the hospital!"
Shekhar, without wasting a second, started the car, and Sanskar sat with Swara, followed by the others. They reached the hospital in no time, thanks to the police cars giving them a protocol throughout the way.
Swara was taken to the O.T. in no time. Doctors didn't allow Sanskar to accompany them, as he was also slightly injured, along with the other boys. They went for their first aid. After 3 hours, the doctors came out from the O.T.
Sanskar, worriedly: "What happened, Doctor? How is she?"
Doctor: "Doctor Nilin, did she ever hurt her head before, or has she ever been in an accident before?"
Sanskar: "Yes, some years back she was in a fatal accident. But why are you asking? Is something serious?"
Doctor: "Unfortunately, she got hurt on the side of her head that was already weak, likely due to her past accident. We stopped the bleeding, but I have a concern that she may have internal bleeding. However, we won't know for sure until the tests are done."
Sanskar stumbled back, but Rishi supported him. "If there is internal bleeding, then what?"
Doctor: "We hope for the best, Doctor Nilin, but if she does have internal bleeding, we will need to perform surgery as soon as possible. Otherwise, her condition could worsen. For now, please excuse us while we conduct her tests."
Flashback ends.
Thankfully, Swara did not have any internal bleeding. She had been hit on the sensitive side of her head, which caused her to go into a coma. For the past three days, Sanskar had not left her side. However, on the fourth day, Shekhar finally came and took him outside.
Nobody had left the hospital since they received the worst news of their lives, except for the women. Asha, who was two months pregnant, and Gaurav, who had been crying continuously, were taken home by Sumi and Sapna.
The men, including Rishi, RV, and Shekhar, had insisted that the women go home to rest, as they also needed a break. When Sanskar came out of the room, he saw the other three for the first time during these three days. It struck him that they were experiencing the same pain as he was.
Swara had come into their lives like a ray of sunshine, fulfilling their wish for a sister and sharing in their sorrows and joys. She was the reason everyone was still standing strong.
Each person present at that moment, from their family, had always hoped for a life free from the shadows of the past, but not like this, not without Swara. Sanskar saw Karan sitting on a chair, staring blankly ahead, his eyes filled with unshed tears.
Sanskar walked towards Karan and sat down in the chair beside him. Rishi and RV were sitting in front of them on other chairs, while Shekhar was seated beside them.
Sanskar: "She brought life into all of us."
Karan: "She gave us a reason to smile."
Rishi: "She brought positivity into all of us."
RV: "She helped us overcome our past and see a brighter future."
Shekhar remained silent, knowing that his daughter was closer to them than he was. He felt a deep sense of pride in being the father of such a daughter who had won everyone's hearts.
As they reflected on how Swara had changed their lives, a nurse approached them. At first, they didn't quite catch what she said, but when it registered, they were all shocked and exclaimed together:
All: "What??"
Nurse with a smile: "Yes, the patient is awake."
When Sanskar came out from Swara's room after 15 minutes, the nurse who had been in the room noticed some movement in Swara's hand. She called the doctor immediately, which went unnoticed by everyone else as they were lost in their thoughts about Swara.
Sanskar was the first to enter the room, eager to confirm if what the nurse had said was true. His doubts were quickly cleared when he saw Swara lying on the hospital bed, which was now slightly raised, with Swara sitting up.
Swara, in a weak voice but with a smile on her face: "Sanskar..."
Sanskar, initially numb, came back to his senses upon hearing her voice. In an instant, he enveloped her in a bone-crushing hug. Swara, shivering slightly from weakness, placed her hands on his back and rubbed it gently.
She could feel the wetness on her neck and shoulder from his tears but didn't stop him, knowing he needed this. She saw her brothers and father standing in front of her, tears streaming down their faces.
Swara offered them a teary smile and opened one hand. Without hesitation, her brothers joined in the hug with Sanskar, while her father kissed her forehead and caressed her head.
Today was the day when the sun was able to light up the world fully because finally, the sun of their lives was awake.
After 5 minutes, everyone broke the hug, and Swara sat back, clearly exhausted. Her weakness was evident from her condition, but amid their joy, no one realized they had hugged her beyond her capacity.
Karan, feeling guilty: "Sorry, Lolli, we hugged you too tightly."
Swara simply shook her head with a smile and rested her head on Sanskar's shoulder. He sat with her, holding her in a side hug, making sure she was finally awake.
Swara, in a soft, low voice: "No, sorry, Bhai," and before anyone could say anything more, she closed her eyes and fell asleep again. RV panicked at this, but Sanskar quickly reassured him.
Sanskar: "Shhh, relax. It's just that her body is exhausted physically and mentally. It's just fatigue taking over. She's awake now, so don't worry." Hearing this, everyone sighed in relief.
The doctor entered the room: "Doctor Nilin, Swara is stable. Her injuries are still sensitive, so you need to be very careful. Her leg, which has a hairline fracture, should heal within 2 to 3 weeks, but her head injury will take 4 to 5 weeks or possibly longer."
Sanskar, gently rubbing her hair: "When can we take her home?"
Doctor: "In about a week. Since she's just come out of a coma, she may still feel sleepy from time to time. Don't worry; it's just her body needing complete rest."
Sanskar: "Don't worry, we'll take care of it." The doctor left, and Sanskar asked everyone to go home and rest, which they agreed to. Sanskar took a shower in the hospital room; Sumi had already sent clothes for everyone.
After a long, relaxing shower, Sanskar felt his muscles unwind and began to feel sleepy. He messaged Karan to come at night after getting proper rest and instructed him to call when they arrived.
Sanskar locked the room door and settled down on the bed with Swara in his arms. The VIP room had a bed large enough for both, and Sanskar knew he could only find peace in his sleep with Swara close to him.
Swara woke up at 10 in the morning, and by now it was around 8 in the evening. Sanskar, who had finally enjoyed a peaceful sleep after nearly 4 days, was resting soundly. He felt some movement on his chest but remained drowsy and initially didn't understand what was happening.
After a few moments, his senses fully awakened. Without opening his eyes, he realized that it was Swara who was awake, gently tracing circles on his chest with her fingers. Sanskar smiled softly and slowly opened his eyes.
He saw Swara staring at the wall, her finger continuing its gentle motion on his chest. Sanskar leaned in and placed a tender kiss on her head. At his touch, Swara looked up at him, her eyes meeting his warm smile.
Swara: I gave lots of tension to you people in these many days.
Sanskar, gently tucking a strand of hair behind her ear: Yes, and today I want one promise from you.
Swara, meekly: I can never keep that promise, like always.
Sanskar: I know, but we can give it a try, can't we?
Swara: What kind of promise do you want?
Sanskar, with a sigh: I want a promise that from now on, you'll be selfish.
Swara, confused: What? I don't understand.
Sanskar: I want you to promise that you'll start thinking about yourself. You won't worry about others or push yourself too hard. For once, put yourself first.
Swara: But...
Sanskar: Shhh, let me finish first.
Swara nodded, and Sanskar continued: Sometimes being selfish isn't bad. How can you help anyone if you're not fit yourself? So, I want you to be selfish until you're fully recovered, both mentally and physically. Can you do this little thing for me, for us?
Swara, smiling: I promise.
A bright smile appeared on Sanskar's lips, and he kissed her nose lightly, making her giggle softly.
Sanskar, placing a hand on her cheek: I love you, Swara.
Swara, hugging him tightly: I love you too, Sanskar.
Their fate had made them endure so much from a young age, leaving them both broken. But together, they mended each other's hearts. Now, they were bound to each other, united until death parted them.
Leap of around 1 year:-
It's been 1 year since they regained happiness in their lives. Everything was finally fine now; Swara was completely fit and well. The promise she made to Sanskar in the hospital was surprisingly kept, and within 2 months, she was back to her normal state. Asha gave birth to a baby boy, named Maan, who was now 5 months old.
Gaurav, now 1.5 years old, was the apple of his bua's eye. Swara had fully recovered, thanks to the successful treatment Sanskar had pursued with the doctor's help. She was now ready to become a mother. Sanskar had informed Swara about this development 2 months ago, and upon hearing the news, Swara was initially shocked and even shouted at Sanskar.
Swara: Sanskar, you can't do this to me! How could you hide such a big thing from me?
Sanskar: Swara, relax. Everything is fine now. I'm sorry I didn't tell you; I knew you would become more worried.
Swara: And what about you, Sanskar? You endured all this pain alone. Can't you trust me enough to share it with me? You know very well that your presence gives me strength, but you chose to bear all this pain alone.
Sanskar: Okay, I'm sorry. I promise I won't hide anything from you from now on.
Swara: You better not, or else I will stop talking to you.
Sanskar, with a smile, took her into a hug, which she returned equally. Everyone was happy and enjoying their lives.
Swara was trying hard to get out of bed but couldn't break her husband's iron grip. Sanskar, already awake, was enjoying her struggle, which had been ongoing for the last 5 minutes. Every time she tried to free herself, he tightened his hold around her.
Swara, huffing and puffing in anger, slapped him on the shoulder: "Sanskar, wake up! I want to go downstairs, you idiot!"
Sanskar didn't say anything and just hugged her tighter. Swara finally sighed in defeat and pouted sadly. Sanskar, seeing her antics with one eye, chuckled softly and pecked her pout.
Swara made a deeper pout and frowned at him: "You were awake all the time?"
Sanskar, pecking her pout again but more firmly: "Yep, I've been awake since you started your struggle."
Swara, huffing in frustration: "This is not fair! Now let me go; I need to go downstairs, please!"
Sanskar, kissing her temple: "Okay, go."
Swara dashed out of bed at lightning speed, and Sanskar chuckled at her antics.
After half an hour, Sanskar came downstairs and laughed at the scene before him. Swara was playing with Maan in her arms, while Gaurav clung to her leg like a little koala.
Sanskar, chuckling: "What's up, Gaurav? Why are you hiding behind your bua?"
Gaurav gave a toothy smile and then hid behind Swara again, who laughed and explained to Sanskar: "Because he ate half a bottle of Nutella, and now his mother is scolding him. This little guy came to me for rescue."
Sanskar, lifting Gaurav onto his lap: "Don't be afraid, champ. I'll save you from your mother."
Gaurav laughed and clapped his hands: "Taan too chuchu" (Thank you, uncle).
They all sat down at the dining table for breakfast when RV turned to Swara.
RV: "Swara, you played Cupid for me and Rishi. What about your third brother, Karan?"
Swara, giggling: "Bhai, he didn't get his heroine in real life. How can I find her for him in reel life?"
Everyone burst into laughter while Karan made a sad pout.
Seeing Karan's face, Swara added with a wink: "Don't worry, bhai. I've already uploaded your profile on Shadi.com. Soon we'll find your bride and our bhabi."
Everyone laughed out loud, while Karan made a mock annoyed face.
All went about their respective tasks. Swara was now working as an intern at their company, gaining experience before moving up to a higher position. Sanskar, having completed his specialization, was now a senior doctor at his hospital.
While Swara was in her office handling some file work, RV called her to his cabin. She delivered the file and turned to leave, but suddenly felt as if the world was spinning. She collapsed on the floor with a thud.
RV, busy reading a file, heard the noise and was shocked to see Swara unconscious. He quickly rushed to her side. At the same time, Karan arrived in the cabin and was equally stunned.
Without wasting any time, they took her to the hospital. Sanskar, who was in his cabin, was alerted by Karan's urgent arrival. Karan informed him about Swara's condition, and Sanskar immediately ran out of his cabin, following Karan to find Swara in a hospital room, where doctors were examining her.
Sanskar, breathing heavily, asked the doctor: "What happened? Doctor?"
The doctor turned to the nurse and said, "Call Doctor Shalini."
Confused, Sanskar asked, "Why Doctor Shalini? She's a gynecologist."
The doctor replied, "Because, sir, I have some doubts, but only Doctor Shalini can clear them." Within five minutes, Doctor Shalini arrived and asked everyone to leave the room.
After half an hour, Doctor Shalini emerged and addressed Sanskar: "Sir, your wife is completely fine. She just fainted due to weakness, which is common in pregnancy."
Sanskar, RV, and Karan were stunned and exclaimed together, "What??"
Shalini smiled and confirmed, "Yes, Nilin sir, your wife is pregnant."
The news brought immense joy. Sanskar, RV, and Karan congratulated each other and thanked Doctor Shalini. RV and Karan then left to inform other family members and give Sanskar some space to be with Swara.
Sanskar entered the room and saw Swara lying there with her eyes closed. He walked over and gently kissed her forehead. Swara's eyes fluttered open, and she looked at him with tears of joy streaming down her face.
Sanskar, shaking his head, said softly: "No more tears, only a happy smile. I love you, Swara. Thank you so much for giving me the reason to rejoice in the feeling of being a father."
Swara, smiling through her tears, replied: "I love you too, Sanskar. And soon, we'll both experience the joy of being parents."
Sanskar nodded, holding her tightly in his embrace, his voice filled with warmth: "Indeed."
The loveliest and the most precious feeling after getting your love is the only one when you hear the news of the arrival of your symbol of love.
