Part 19: Blooming Feelings
Episode #19: (Blooming Feelings)
Okay, guys, before peeping into the flashback of Swasan's marriage, let me clear a few things to remove any confusion. As you all know, Swara staged a memory loss drama in front of Sanjeev. That's why Sanjeev told her that her parents were Rajnath Goenka and Sakshi Goenka. These individuals were members of one gang that were eliminated by the 'Black Tigers'. Sanjeev wanted to take revenge on the Black Tigers for the death of his associates, which is why he misled Swara about her parents' identity. In reality, his illegal business was destroyed due to the end of that gang, which fueled his anger against Sanskar and the gang.
Rajnath's gang was involved in prostitution and drug dealing. Rajnath was the only person responsible for murdering Sanskar's parents by giving them drugs. The Black Tigers eliminated him and his entire gang, just as Rajnath had done with Sanskar's parents. Their involvement in prostitution was not the cause of their death; rather, it was the murder of Ram and Sujata that led to their downfall.
After her accident and memory loss drama, Swara went with Sanjeev to Shimla. Sanskar planned a trip with the help of Swara's college principal and sent Swara's batch on a 2-week trip. While the students went on the trip, Swara came to Kolkata. This was six months after Swara's accident, and Swara was almost 20 at that time.
So now, the scene starts when Shekhar asks Sanskar if he will marry Swara. (In this and the next episode, all the events will relate to the past and Swasan's marriage, meaning all the details will be from the past only.)
Sanskar, being shocked: Uncle, what are you saying?? How can I marry her? (Author's note: Idiot, and how can you not marry her??)
Shekhar: I know, beta, I'm being selfish for my daughter, but except for you, I can't trust anyone else. You know how much she has suffered over the years. I know she is childish and stubborn, always wanting to show the world that she is strong and can do anything. But I know, deep down, she is that 8-year-old fragile girl who had her father snatched away from her and her mother sacrificed herself to save her. At the age of 9, she witnessed her mother being abused. That's why I know she will never admit to anyone that she is in pain or needs help. Sumi was indeed with her until she was 15, but she had already seen worse when she was just 9.
(This is why no one ever said anything to Swara except for scolding her about her foolish stunts. They knew that what Shekhar said was true. Swara had been alone since the age of 9. Even though her mother was with her at that time, she was always busy protecting Swara and enduring abuse herself. As a result, Swara remained in her shell, unwilling to accept help from anyone.)
Sanskar sighed: "Uncle, I know what Swara has been through. She is the strongest person I know. It's just that I'm not sure if I can take care of her as a true life partner."
Shekhar smiled: "How can you doubt yourself? When you were just 8 years old, you took care of your younger brother like a real father. How can you doubt that you will be able to take care of Swara?"
Sanskar was speechless but replied: "Uncle, why don't you ask Swara first?"
Shekhar: "I will ask her, but I want to know your decision first."
Sanskar: "If she has no problem with it, then I'm also ready."
Shekhar happily said, "Thank you so much, beta. I'm sure Swara will agree as well, and if not, I'm here to support you," he said with a wink. Sanskar gave him a faint smile. Shekhar then left to talk to Swara.
Swara was in the hall, enjoying ice cream from a huge bowl. Shekhar came in, chuckling at the sight of his daughter. He approached her and sat down beside her. Swara grinned widely when she saw Shekhar.
Shekhar: "Swara, beta, I'm going abroad for a business trip that I can't miss. It's very important for our business."
Swara, gulping down a spoonful of ice cream: "When will you come back?"
Shekhar: "I don't know, but I need to ask you something."
Swara: "Yeah, tell me, Dad."
Shekhar, not beating around the bush (after all, he is Swara's father): "I want you to marry Sanskar." Swara choked on her ice cream upon hearing this and started coughing vigorously. Shekhar chuckled and patted her back.
Swara, calming her breath: "What? How can you ask me to marry that Godzilla, Dad? You know, I bet he even spits fire. I'm sure I'll catch him red-handed one day," she said with a funny face.
Shekhar burst into laughter: "Swara, you are too much."
Swara: "Hmph, I'm even three times too much. But what made you think of asking me to marry that DG?"
Shekhar, sighing: "Beta, it's for your good. I know you'll never listen to anyone if you don't have a strong relationship with them. Am I right?"
Swara: "Of course, why should I listen to anyone who isn't my father or mother?"
Shekhar: "Exactly, that's why I'm saying this."
Swara, whining like a child: "But why marriage, Dad? And why with that cruel DG?"
Shekhar, with a raised eyebrow: "Because other than Sanskar, you've made the other three boys like your brothers. So tell me, do I have any other option?"
Swara, with an 'o' face: "But Dad, I don't want to marry him. He's stricter than you," she said, making a displeased face.
Shekhar: "He cares about you just like he cares about us."
Swara, dramatically: "Hmph, cares? He's the most kharoos doctor I've ever seen. You know, even in jail, the jailer doesn't impose as many restrictions as he did on me in the hospital. He even forced me to gulp down seven tablets—said to be for infection, pain, or bla bla bla bla," she said, waving her hands in the air.
Shekhar, chuckling: "He may be strict, but he has a golden heart."
Swara, with narrowed eyes: "Well, he's handsome and hot, but I have one condition. He has to agree to it, otherwise, I will not marry him," she said with an attitude.
Shekhar, becoming happy: "Tell me the condition. I'm sure he will agree."
Swara, showing her three fingers: "He has to allow me to have three lollipops a day and not tell me that I'm not a kid who wants lollies. You know, in the hospital, he scolded me terribly when I asked for my lollies. Hmph, Godzilla," she said with an angry pout and a frown.
Shekhar, trying to process what his daughter just said, looked at her in disbelief: "Swara, seriously? Lollipops?"
Swara, with an attitude: "Of course. What would I do by demanding property when I'm already the sole heir of the Gadodia Empire?"
Shekhar, in his mind: "People demand property, and here my daughter is demanding lollipops," and to Sumi in his mind, "Sumi, what did you eat before giving birth to this antique piece? I'll surely ask you." And to Swara.
Shekhar: "Okay, I'll tell him now. Are you ready for this marriage or not?"
Swara, shoving a spoonful of ice cream into her mouth: "Yup." Shekhar left after kissing her on the forehead, and Swara got back to gulping down her ice cream as if her father hadn't just asked her about marriage.
Shekhar informed Sanskar about Swara's decision and her condition. Sanskar burst into laughter upon hearing her demand. Shekhar, along with the trio of boys, was initially shocked but then felt immensely happy to see Sanskar laughing wholeheartedly. For years, they had wished to see a carefree Sanskar, and now they were more than certain that both Sanskar and Swara would be the best life partners for each other.
Swara was in Kolkata for two weeks, of which four days had already passed. Shekhar decided to arrange the wedding within the next three days. Swara, being her usual self, insisted on having a full-arm mehndi and a mehndi ceremony.
The wedding was to be a small affair with only a few trusted business partners, their families, and some close friends invited. They wanted to keep the event low-profile to avoid any risks.
It was a mehndi day:-
Swara was sitting while the mehndi lady applied henna to her hands. And guess who was accompanying her? Of course, her three overprotective brothers with their endless questions. Both Swara and the Mehndi lady were getting increasingly irritated by them.
Karan, to the mehndi lady: "Hey, press gently! You're putting too much pressure on her hand. What if that cone's corner pierces her skin?"
Swara: "Bhai, seriously? The mehndi is wrapped in plastic, not in any glass sheet."
Rishi: "Chup (quiet), Lolli. You don't know anything. Don't disturb us," he said, along with RV, who was grilling the lady with some absurd logic. "Do you have proof that this mehndi is safe? Can you guarantee that Swara won't get an infection?"
Swara, now really irritated: "Rishi bhai, RV bhai, and Karan bhai, if you three don't leave this place in five seconds, I will seriously slap my mehndi-covered hands on your faces so you can get a mehndi design of your own."
The trio, quickly covering their faces with their hands, fled the room like startled ostriches. Shekhar and Sanskar, standing a little distance away, heard the entire exchange and chuckled at their antics.
Sanskar's monologue:-
shine in his eyes that had returned.
I remember seeing Swara as a child; I still recall the time she placed her doll in my lap with full authority. She was indeed the cutest girl I had ever seen. When I saw her in the hospital, I suspected she was Swara because her features were so similar to that chubby 3-year-old girl.
I understand why uncle wants us to marry; he can't trust anyone else with his daughter's safety. But I believe that soon, I will fall in love with her. She is a complete package—fun, emotional, stubborn, and caring.
Ever since I saw her in that miserable condition in the hospital, I've felt a strong sense of protection toward her. That's why I acted strict and rude at times when she seemed careless. This marriage might be based on responsibility, but part of my heart has already fallen for her. As Sanskar thought this, a sweet and calm smile appeared on his face.
His thoughts were interrupted by loud music. He looked towards the source and saw Karan standing in the middle of the hall, singing and dancing.
Karan
Main Daalun Taal Pe Bhangra
Tu Bhi Gidda Paa Le
Chal Aisa Rang Jamaa De Hum
Ke Bane Sabhi Matwaale
Swara, whose mehndi was already done and almost dried, happily joined him, singing and dancing:
Mann Kahe Ki Main Le Aaun
Chaand Aur Taare Saare
Inn Haathon Par Main Chaand Rakhun
Iss Maang Mein Bhar Doon Taare
Rishi
Hello Hello Tu Floor Pe Kab Hai Aayi
Ye Lo, Ye Lo, Badi Solid Masti Chaayi
RV
Hello Hello Too Much Hai Tumne Lagayi
Ye Lo, Ye Lo, Control Karo Mere Bhai
Sanskar stood smiling and clapping as he watched them enjoying themselves.
Karan, Rishi, RV, and Swara
(Twice)
Dhak-Dhak Dhak-Dhak Dhadke Ye Dil
Chhan Chhan Bole Amritsari Choodiyan
Raat Badi Hai Mastaani
Toh Dilbar Jaani Kar Le Gallan Goodiyan
Shekhar, imagining Sumi there:
Yeh Nain Matakka Tera
Bhi Mujhe Bada Tadpaawe
Tu Dekhe Ajj Vi Dilbar Kudiye
Teer Sa Ek Chal Jaave
Aahaa..
Kar De Bin Piye Sharabi, Chehra Ter Gulabi
Koi Kyun Na Yamla Ban Jaave
Jo Itni Ho Betabi
Rishi and RV, approaching Shekhar:
Hello, Hello, Dil Dil Se Connect Karna
Ye Lo, Ye Lo, Yeh Baate Direct Karna
Swara then dragged Sanskar into the middle of the circle, and they all danced together:
(Twice)
Dhak-Dhak Dhak-Dhak Dhadke Ye Dil
Chhan Chhan Bole Amritsari Choodiyan
Raat Badi Hai Mastaani
Toh Dilbar Jaani Kar Le Gallan Goodiyan
At the end of the celebration, Swara hugged Sanskar tightly, followed by Shekhar and the boys, while the guests applauded loudly. After two hours, all the guests left for their homes. Swara was heading towards her room, her mehndi fully dried but not yet washed off, as she wanted to wait until morning for a darker color. She noticed Sanskar's room door was slightly ajar and the light was on. Curious, she peeped inside and saw Sanskar sitting on his bed, reading his files.
Swara nervously knocked on his door. Sanskar, who heard the knock, looked towards the door and found Swara standing with a nervous smile.
Sanskar: "Swara, come in. You didn't sleep yet?"
Swara, while coming inside: "No, I was just going towards my room when I saw your door was open and the light was on. What are you doing?"
Sanskar, with a sigh: "Nothing, just a little hospital work."
Swara silently sat there for a few seconds and then said to Sanskar: "I don't want to go."
Sanskar looked towards her, confused: "What? Where?"
Swara, with teary eyes: "I don't want to go to that Sanjeev's house again."
Sanskar became worried after seeing her teary eyes. Within a second, he was in front of her, sitting on his knees while holding her hands.
Sanskar, while rubbing her tears: "We never wanted to send you with that jerk, Swara. It was only you who wanted to go."
Swara, while sniffing: "I... I know I said that, but I don't know, I don't want to go now," she cried bitterly after saying that.
Sanskar sat beside her and took her into a tight embrace, rubbing her back and one hand in her hair.
Sanskar tried to break the hug, but Swara just made her grip stronger. Sanskar smiled, feeling her grip getting tighter. He broke the hug forcefully and made her look towards him.
Sanskar chuckled at seeing her red nose, wiping her tears: "Why these big, fat tears?"
Swara, with a frown while sniffing: "So you want slim, slim tears?"
Sanskar smiled: "Tears in your beautiful eyes will be the last thing I ever want in this whole universe. Do you trust me?"
Swara nodded her head while sniffing. Sanskar rubbed the tears flowing down from her eyes.
Sanskar, while putting his forehead on hers: "Why fear, when your hubby—or better to say, soon-to-be hubby—is here."
Swara looked towards his face with a pout: "But..."
Sanskar, while putting her hair behind her ear: "You don't have to worry about anything; I've planned everything. Even before you said anything, I had already decided everything. But I want you to give me one promise."
Swara: "What?"
Sanskar: "That you will stay 100 feet away from any type of trouble. For now, you will remain in Shimla only, but don't worry; you won't have to live with Sanjeev as I've already taken care of that. But promise me that whatever I say, you will listen to me. Will you, Swara?"
Swara looked at Sanskar and saw that he was genuinely worried for her. With a smile, she said: "I promise I will listen to you." (Though, as you have seen in the present scenes in previous episodes, she has already broken that promise.)
Sanskar smiled and kissed her forehead. Swara closed her eyes, feeling the warmth of his lips. Until now, she had always seen him as a strict doctor, almost like a stern parent. But now he was going to be her husband, her life partner. A new feeling was blooming in her heart, though she was not fully aware of it yet. Both were experiencing something new, with Sanskar a bit further along in his feelings, while Swara was about to take her first step towards her feelings for him.
