Visha

"Hey! Little girl, you okay?" A feminine voice called out.

Something began shaking me, forcing me to wake up. I slowly blinked open my eyes, I was pleasantly surprised to be greeted by a women and an older guy. I'd never seen them before, then again I rarely ever saw anyone else unless they were one of my classmates.

"Oh good! I was afraid you were dead," The girl sighed.

I shot up from where I was laying down, it was no longer dark out telling me I'd survived the night out here. I looked over the two people near me, the women seemed nice enough, she was younger than mom was but wasn't near my age. She had brown eyes that seemed so warm, and her skin practically screamed that she loved to spend time in the sun. The man however gave me the creeps, he was the oldest man I'd ever seen, for a human that is. He had blue eyes that almost seemed white, and a bad starring problem given that he wouldn't stop looking at me.

"Who- who are you people?" I stuttered out.

"A friend."She answered simply, but how could you ever call a total stranger a friend? "Would you like to come with us?" The women asked holding out her hand.

"Where?" I asked getting rather suspicious of them.

"A hidden paradise, away from those heinous monsters. Where we'll teach you how to protect and defend yourself, that is if you're interested that is." The women replied.

So not a dirt town? I didn't even know their were other humans living away from the rest of us, my teacher never taught us anything about it.

"Why are you helping me?" I ask.

"Because we see great things in you, and we're sure you'll lead us to freedom." The man answered cryptically, he appeared to be looking right at me, but felt more like he was looking through me.

I leaned back and looked back at the man, I wasn't exactly sure what I should do. Momma said I should never go anywhere with a stranger, especially if they were desperately trying to get me to go with them. But I had nowhere to go, I could go home I guess but I don't think I could handle all the memories that come with it.

"Stop that you're freaking her out!" The women chastised him.

And I definitely couldn't live out here all by myself, masters could be anywhere around here. I took in a deep breath, I don't know what made me trust them, but for some reason I did, "Okay I'll come with you." I said now filled with determination.

Those monster destroyed the last good thing in this world, and I was going to do everything in my power in stopping their rein of terror.

So there I was, at only ten years old I had vowed to bring our masters to their knees. This may not have been what my mother wanted for me, but there really is no other way for me to continue. My parents meant the world to me, they were my life, and they were taken away from me like they meant nothing.

"Wonderful, come on then we've got a long walk ahead of us."

"Great... walking." I deadpan.

We started off heading towards what I didn't know, but I was just thrilled to never go anywhere near those masters. I was still slightly confused on where we were even going, I mean the only human towns where near the outside of the Kingdom and that were in the opposite direction.

"So what's your name sweety?"

"Visha, what's yours?"

"Genesis but everyone calls me Sky." Genesis replies.

"Why? Sky sounds nothing like Genesis," I ask more than confused,

"Oh it's not a variation of my name, when I was younger I used to say that I was a bird, and that one day I would fly away into the sun.  And soon that became nickname because I wanted to fly away." Sky explained.

"Cute story." The man snorts.

"Well what's your name then?" I ask him curious about this mystery man.

He seemed to debate for a moment on whether or not he actually wanted to tell me his name, something must've clicked because not a second later he sighed, and then said, "Enoch."

I silently mouthed 'oh' in return, not exactly sure how to respond at this point.

"So Visha, how old are you exactly because you act older than you look?" Sky asks turning my attention back to her.

"Ten, and now how old are you?" I ask out in mere politeness, but in all honesty I didn't really feel like talking with either of them anymore.

She gasps out is shock, "You never ask a lady her age!"

"But you just asked mine!" I shout back in defense.

Cherry cracks a small smile before ultimately bursting out laughing, "Ha! I'm just messing with you kid, relax. Oh and I'm 20 by the way." She stops to continue her laughing fit. "Well then, now that we're all very well acquainted with each other let's get a move on we should be back at camp by sunset!" Sky practically shouts, she was definitely eager to head back.
She had more energy than I had ever had in my entire life, she was probably one of those people who enjoyed waking up in the morning. Morning people.

I however wasn't, "The whole day?!" I shout.

"Unfortunately... yes. But it's only because we wanted to be far enough away from the master's when we first settled."

"...yeah, okay... lead the way." I grumble before motioning for her to start walking.

As I walk behind these two completely total strangers I can't help but think back to my parents, to the father I never knew and the mother I wanted back. I think of the time I was so curious about where my mother worked that at only seven-years-old I followed her all the way to the Palace. It was incredible, the masters were so big nearly twice my size.

I didn't last very long before I was discovered, the masters have an advanced hearing that makes it almost impossible for anyone to sneak up on them. The masters were not pleased when they found me.

Luckily my mother found out and saved me from my own stupidity, just like yesterday...
Why'd she have to sacrifice herself for me?! Now I'm all alone, and I'm scared.

"Hey, you're crying... are you okay?" Sky suddenly asks.
Sniff sniff, "Yeah." I managed to whisper out.

"Then why the tears?"

"I was just thinking about my mother... she's... she's gone!" I break out in a wail, practically throwing myself into Sky's arms.

"Hey, hey it's gonna be okay..." Sky tries to consol, though I could tell I was making her uncomfortable.

Sniff, "Really how do you know?" sniff.

"Well I lost my mom at a pretty young age too, and I know that it seems like nothing matters anymore and that you just want to give up. But I can honestly tell you it gets better, if you surround yourself with other people that love you, you'll get through this." Sky says, and I actually felt a little better.

Guess I wasn't all alone anymore...

The sun had just began to dip behind the horizon when Sky had finally said, "OK were here! Home sweet home."

"It's just a bunch of trees..." I mutter to myself.

We were standing in a clearing surrounded by a bunch of trees, wed been walking a day and the only times we stopped where to get food. My feet hurt, I'm tired and I'm really starting to get sick of Sky and her bubbly personality.

"Just wait for it," Sky says as she knocks a certain rhythm into the tree she was currently standing by. In the blink of an eye the trees seem to come to life, doors and windows open and lights flood the area. The forest was no longer a forest, it looked like an entire city filled with lights and people.

It was a hidden town, full of humans just like me.
"Woah."

"See? What'd I tell you, now come on we got to go see the chief."

"What's a chief?" I asked confused.

"Oh he's kind of like our boss, he runs our town. Making sure everyone's safe, and other things like that." She answers before harshly grabbing my arm and dragging me off.

"Oh come on!" I shout out in pure annoyance.

She dragged me inside of what I first thought was a cave, only instead seemed to be a perfectly furnished home.

"Ohh Chief! Got somebody I want you to meet!"

"He's also kind of sorta my father," Sky hesitantly muttered.

"Oh that's good then right?"

"If it makes you feel better," she mumbled as she walked over to where I'm guessing the kitchen was.

A man with snowy white hair and matching beard soon appeared, he didn't seem to notice me a first though instead he quickly found his daughter. "Genesis! Quit eating all of my food you damn freeloader! Now who did you want me to meet?" His raspy voice asks.

"She's right over there dad," She says as she points at me.

"Ah, their you are. Now what is your name?" He asks.

"Visha."

He looks me up and down and after a moment a small barely noticeable smile appeared, before Sky squealed and dragged me away once again, guess that means I get to stay then.
