Thomas ans James lived on together to tell this story to their children and grandchildren, not to mention the news wanted to know how the two survived the Titanic without being taken away on a lifeboat.

They were both happy dispite little James' emotional outbursts when he falls asleep, it doesnt matter because all they have and need is each other.
