Chapter Fourteen: No More Nice Witch
Savon's words left my mind reeling with worry and my body flustered, the anger I had previously felt no longer coursed through my hidden dark veins, all because of Savon's gentle touch.
I tucked my hair behind my ear as I exited the small room and looked around the hall, I spotted Diane speaking with one of the guards in a rush and flailing her arms around her. Her shoulders slumped when the guard shook his head at her and she turned away from him, she rested her hand against the back of her neck and looked up from the ground. It didn't take long for her gaze to land on me and her demeanor perked up, she rushed over to me and grabbed my hand.
"Mistress Emerald!, I've been looking for you all over. Prince Cassius has requested your presence in the dining room, he demanded that I find you at once. He seems to be very angry and I don't want to get in the way of his temper." She said in a quick slur.
Without another peep from her lips she pulled me down the hall and escorted me to the dining room, once we reached the large entrance she released my wrist from her clammy grasp and bowed before me.
Confused by the sudden need for my presence, I walked into the dining room and three gazes fell upon me. On amethyst gaze in particular swirled with dark emotions, Cassius stood next to the dining table while both of his parents sat in opposite seats.
"Finally you've decided to join us, we've all been waiting for you. Perhaps you care to explain why I've found a dagger under your bed, not just any dagger but the same one that disgusting Outcasted had against your throat only a few days ago." Cassius spat through clenched teeth.
My eyes widened at the sight before me, laying on the dining room between the three royals was the dagger Savon had left with me and no one looked happy to see it. Although I could see everyone questioning me with their gaze, I myself wondered how Cassius even got his hands on it.
I distinctly remember hiding it underneath my mattress, if he had found it in my room that meant he went through my things...
I crossed my arms over my chest and eyed Cassius suspiciously."That dagger was tucked underneath my mattress, if you found it then you went into my room and you went through my things. Why?" I questioned.
Cassius's hand slammed down on the dining table, he glared at me with blazing eyes and a growl slipped from his lips."I found your jacket in front of my door and I decided to return it to you, when I laid the jacket down on your bed I caught a glimpse of the dagger underneath your mattress and so I took it. Besides, what were you doing in front of my room today?" He shot back.
Whipping my arms away from my chest, I let them fall to my sides as my hands clenched into fists."I was taking a walk to clear my mind but as I walked by your room I heard you with your little bitch!, I'm the one who saved your life but why should that even matter, you never bothered to thank me, no instead you went through my things!" I shouted.
His angry face slumped at my words but he quickly recovered and narrowed his dark gaze."This isn't about Katia or me, right now were going to talk about why you've been hiding this knife underneath your bed."
Bitter laughter broke free of my lips, I let my head fall backwards as a wicked smiled lifted my lips."Of course not, for your information I'm not explaining anything to you. Your not worth my time."
I walked towards the dining table and tried to pick up the dagger but Cassius grabbed my arm, his fingers dug into my skin as he pulled me close."So the little witch has a back bone, that's great but I still want answers from you." He said quietly.
Wrapping my fingers around his wrist, I pulled his unwilling hand from my arm and slowly began bending it backwards. I grabbed him by the throat with my free hand and slammed him against the dining table, a groan of pain slipped from his lips and I loomed over his ear."This little witch has had a back bone for a long time and she's no longer playing the nice witch, you better watch out." I whispered.
I freed him from my grasp and grabbed the dagger off of the table, meanwhile Lorik jumped up from his seat."Both of you need to calm down!, Your both suppose to be married and look at how your acting, your ready to tear each other apart!"
"Both of you know I've shown your son kindness and I've kept my patience, after the countless things he's said to me and no matter how many times I've seen him with other women I've kept my mouth shut. This time he's pushed his boundaries to far, I've had enough." I stated.
The dagger rose from my grasp, it twirled in the air above me as the inky veins I had tried so hard to conceal became free. I held my palms out in front of me and leaned my head back as I stared at the dagger."Welded To Perfection, Built For Battle, Sturdy As Bone. I Command You Take Me To Your Master."
The steel tip of the dagger glowed red and a circle of green flames surrounded me, they licked against the floor causing the three stunned royals to jump back in fright. The flames surged upwards towards the ceiling before they came crashing down on me in a searing hot wave, I felt like my flesh would melt away from the intense heat.
A scream broke free from my lips just as I was released from the painful imprisonment, I collapsed onto a cool surface covered in small rocks, the dagger surged it's way into the ground. The glowing tip began to fade as it buried itself into the cool earth.
Resting my head against the hard ground I felt a hot substance leaking from nose, my head swam with dizziness and out of the corner of my eye I saw thick crimson blood trickle onto the damp ground. A small sigh escaped my parted lips, my eyelids grew heavy and tiredness washed over my body. I put up a good fight against my pressing dreary state but in the end my eyelids fluttered shut, my body and mind thanking me for the peace.
