EPS 9: PERSONAL AUDIO FILE OF SASKIA JONES - RECORDED 3RD AUGUST 11.11PM
(The audio begins with the clear sound of Saskia in distress. She is crying and gasping for breath, as if she has been running.)
(A gate creaks. Footsteps crunch on gravel. We hear the sound of someone banging on a door, four times.)
Saskia: Oh god... please. Let me in. Pleeeeease. Open up.
(Saskia whimpers.)
Saskia: (whispers) Go away, go away, go awaaaaaay. Please, please, please.
(Footsteps crunch on gravel again and then stop. We can hear Saskia breathing heavily.)
Saskia: Come on, Sass. Come on... it's okay. Everything is okay. Oh god. (whimpers again) I don't know if anyone will hear this. I don't know what to do. I don't know where to go. I can't go home. (crying) If you find this... whoever you are... I can't go home. I can't go back there. This thing... this thing that won't leave me alone, it's there all the time. It's there... I feel it...
(The audio glitches. White noise buzzes furiously.)
Saskia: (sobbing now) I.. I w-w..want to go home. Please... leave me alone. (sniffs loudly) Kinghorne said... he said that I should drop it. He said that if I stopped this, then maybe everything would be okay. Please, if you're listening... you have to be listening. You're there, aren't you? I know you are. I can feel you there. Please, listen. I promise I will drop this. I'm done, okay? You have to believe me. That's it. I won't let anyone hear that interview today. I swear to you, I won't. I'll destroy it. Please. Pleeeease. (whimpers again).
Saskia: C-can you hear me? (gasps) Stop... stop it. Please.
Saskia: Why isn't it working? (inhales and exhales deeply) Okay, okay, okay. Listen up. Listen. If you're listening to this, if you find this, then tell mum and dad I'm sorry, okay? Tell Jakey that I love him. He'll hate that. He hates all that sibling love shit, always pretends like he doesn't care, but I know he does. Jakey, I love you. (crying) Mum, Dad, I love you. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I did this. It's all my fault. I should have left it alone and now I can't come back, because it'll come with me... and I can't... I can't let it come back with me. I can't let it do to you what it's doing to me... I love you, oh god, I love you so much (breaks down into sobs.)
Saskia: (coughs, which turns into a choking sound as if she is vomiting) Oh god, oh god. Please. I know you're there. I know it. Why are you doing this? W-what do you want?
(There's the sound of running, footsteps hard and fast against gravel which soon move to a softer surface. We can hear Saskia breathing hard again, her breath wheezes painfully.)
(The footsteps stop, but Saskia's breathing sounds heavier.)
Saskia: Are you still there? Where are you?
(Mumbles incoherently.)
Saskia: I'll find you. I just have to... I tried before, but it didn't work. The shutter speed is good, but the light... it's the light, it was too dark. I couldn't see anything, not really. But there's this app. I'll find you. If you're there, I'll find you. Then they'll believe me... they didn't believe her, but they'll believe me. They will. Hold on... let me just... that's it...
(Saskia is crying again, breaking down into unintelligible mumbling. She's babbling now, her words tripping over one another.)
Saskia: Okay, okay, okay... oh god, please... please I don't want to look... where are you?
(Her breath quickens, the sound she makes is like an animal, a high-pitched mewling sound of an animal in pain.)
Saskia: Nooooooo, oh god, nooooooo. Pleeeeeeease. There you are... there. Oh god. I see you. I s-eeeeee you.
(The audio glitches again, but the sound explodes this time. A voice resonates clearly, breaking through a cacophony of voices, but the language is indiscernible. The voices fade out to a static buzz, which drags into what sounds like a hissing noise, almost like a snake's hiss.)
(When the audio cuts back to Saskia, the hissing remains. It's sinister and cold and Saskia is whimpering in terror).
Saskia: N-no, nooooooo. Oh god, I can hear.... I can you...
(A voice can be heard clearly now. It's the voice we heard when the audio glitched, only now it's on the audio itself, as clear as Saskia's voice. She begins to scream and the voice screams with her, it's ear-splitting and the audio becomes muffled as if something is covering the microphone.)
(The screaming continues for about twenty-seconds. There's a thud and we can hear Saskia choking, her cries become thick as if her head is covered. There's another thud, this time louder. And again. And again. Four times in total.)
(The hissing starts again, starting out low and becoming louder. It's as if something is hissing directly into the microphone. It goes on for about ten seconds.)
(Saskia groans. There's a sharp hiss, and a snorting, snuffling sound. One more thud, but it's muffled and wet, like a fist pounding into sodden earth.)
(Audio cuts out.)
