Lalea x Drake
A bit strange I think, but I couldn't the idea out of my head. I will probably make another Drake x Lalea eventually and make it more...in coordination with the series?
This one is somewhat like an AU, futuristic thing. In this Drake and Lalea are married and there is modern technology. I rushed it a bit, so I apologize if it seems that way, and I hope that no one gets confused on anything. (I hope I at least got some of this scientifically accurate...) I hope that you all enjoy!

The two sat in the cold room with blank white walls. Monitors were beeping from down the hall, acquainted with faint footsteps that tapped against the floor as doctors and patients alike passed by. There was not unpleasant stench nor a particularly likable aroma in the air, mainly only from flowers or the strange smell of disinfectant that sometimes made you cough and choke. This was not a place they wished to be in, or at least not with their dire situation that was playing about.
The Enderman hybrid sat in a chair next to his lover who laid in her hospital bed. She wasn't sick or injured, but instead they were here for something else that was urgent. His leg shook from nerves and his elbows were on his upper legs, digging into his skin and causing pain but he did not focus on the soreness, too distracted by his worrying thoughts. His fists were together and placed over his mouth with his eyes staring at the polished baby blue floor.
"Drake, please relax. We don't even know if this is serious or if we're just over reacting. We have to stay hopeful that the results will be good." She placed her left hand over her stomach, her other hand reaching down and taking his.
Drake looked up at her, taking in her beautiful blue eyes and flowing blue hair that surprisingly went quite well with the hospital gown she was required to wear. He forced on a smile, holding her soft and small hand in his grasp.
"I know. I just...this is our child we're talking about. It's been a few months a-and... it doesn't look like it's been growing...I'm worried and...terrified."
His eyes rested to look at his wife's stomach, his purple and one blue eye tearing up. If something was wrong, then what was he supposed to do? They wanted a child with their whole hearts. They just kept hoping and praying for good results.
Lalea turned away from him for a moment, a look of sorrow and uncertainty in her eyes. A sigh escaped from her lips, her grip on his hand slightly tightening but was nothing painful.
"I know. I'm just as scared as you..." Her lips quivered as she tried to hold back the tears welling up inside of her eyes. "The least we can do is hope, right?"
She leaned in, placing a kiss on her lover's lips, trying to comfort him. Only for a split moment did their lips part and tongues entwine, showing each other their love and affection to one another. After she pulled away, Drake forced on a smile, trying to comfort her in this rough time of anxiety. She put on a smile as well, until both of their heads turned when they heard the door open.
A human male walked in with a clipboard in hand and wearing a white coat with a pair of stethoscopes. He walked up to the couple, his eyes resting on the two with an unshifting gaze. Drake and Lalea's hearts were beating fast, anxious to know the results and to have closure that their unborn child was okay. Their fists tightened around each other, sweat forming from their pores. The lovers eyes became wide, the look in the doctors eyes showing remorse and pity. The two didn't even have to wait for him to speak to know that anything he had to say was not going to be pleasant.
"I'm sorry... The fetus has stopped growing and...there's nothing we can do. It has already died in the womb." He said it straight forward, having given bad news to parents countless times over the course of his career.
Lalea gasped as she let her tears flow. She leaned over and shoved her face between Drake's shoulder and neck, sobbing a river onto his clothing and skin. Drake's arms slowly wrapped around her and pulled her closer, his tear filled eyes wide with shock. It was so hard to wrap his head around. To understand that he would never get the opportunity to meet his own child. He choked and unconsciously clawed at Lalea's back, his sore eyes letting tears flow.
"H-how? Why?" Drake choked out through his hiccups and sobs.
The doctor looked down at his clipboard, but did not have to read it to explain why this dire and unfortunate case had happened. "It's your Enderman DNA. Both sets of human and Enderman DNA could not combine properly. It's like two different species of animals mating in the wild, such as a cat and dog. They can not produce offspring."
The hybrid looked at the man out of the corner of his eyes, feeling his love shift in his grip. "So you are saying that...I can't have children?"
The doctor avoided eye contact, letting out a sigh before finally meeting the hybrid's gaze. "It is unfortunate, and I am greatly sorry. I will leave you two alone to process it."
He let out a breath before continuing. "We will be back when you are ready to preform a procedure to extract the fetus. It will have to be taken out in the form of a C-section, it seems. Again, I'm sorry for your loss." With that, he turned around and left the room, closing the door behind himself.
Drake closed his eyes and let his lover release the rest of her tears. His hand glided freely through her hair, her blue locks soft and silky. When she finally pulled away, her eyes and face were red with emotion. Drake wiped the warm tears from her cheeks, his arm and fingers unable to stay still. Why did this have to be? So they could never have their own family? He bit his lip, his vision blurring from tears and his chest aching.
"I was looking forward to having a child with you... to having our own family...I-I-" She choked and hiccuped, unable to finish her sentence with tears streaming from her eyes.
The hybrid felt a lump in his dry throat, trying to swallow it down. The salty taste of tears covered his lips and tongue, their faces burning with sorrow. He pulled her into yet another embrace, letting her rest her chin on his shoulder as she tried to control her breathing. Drake shushed her, not wanting her to become even more distressed by her own words. They both felt an agonizing pain in their hearts, and tried to comfort one another in any means possible.
A few minutes passed of sitting there in remorse, sobbing into each other's shoulders. They pushed away from their embrace, wiping away their tears and mucus from their faces. Drake took in a deep breath and tried to ease the physical pain in his chest. His eyes rested on his lover once more, a guilt mixing in with his sorrows.
"I know that it is not my fault but...I feel awful...I just wish that there was something I could do. I want you to be happy...I want to have the family that you always wanted."
Lalea forced on a smile and she sniffed, a light halfhearted chuckle rising in her throat. Her husband lowered a brow, confused with her almost uplifted actions.
He sniffed and swallowed yet another lump in his throat before speaking. "What are you laughing at? It's definitely not about...all of this." His horse voice spoke with a slight crack as he spoke.
A smile returned to his wife's rosy cheeks, which were now a deeper red than they usually were. "I'm sorry...it's just... Maybe there is something we can do. There are a lot of orphans out there. I'm sure that...one of them will love us as we will love them!"
Drake couldn't help but let a smile perk up on his lips. A weak chuckle left his lungs. "I suppose... You always know what to say and do, even in the worst situations. I love you so much for that, and everything else about you."
He leaned in, placing his forehead against her own with closed eyes. He hand took hers in a gentle hold, finding tranquility with the feeling of her soft skin against his own. He tilted his head until his lips pressed against her's in a quick kiss. Once he pulled back, once last tear left his eye and his other hand gently stroked her soft cheek.
"I like that idea... I love it! Anything that will make you happy...malady." He chuckled at the last part. She usually became embarrassed every time he referred to her by that name. She did not know why, but it always made her stomach feel weird and make her blush.
Her cheeks once again warmed up, yet another soft giggle leaving her mouth. She was still hurt, as was he, but the least they could do was try to make their love happy as best they could. Lalea ran her hand through his hair, letting out a deep breath. She loved how he was always there for her and always there to keep her relaxed. They pulled away from each other as the door once again opened, this time three doctors walking in.
The doctor that had came in earlier spoke. "Are you ready for the procedure?"
Lalea took in a deep breath and held it in. After a few seconds she looked at Drake, who nodded to tell her that he was ready to let her go. After letting out her held in breath, she looked back at the doctors and replied that she was ready.
Her blue and red rimmed eyes locked onto her lover, putting another smile on her face. "It will be okay... I love you."
As they came to her bedside, Lalea kissed Drake once again before her bed was wheeled out of the room and taken down the hallway to head to the operation room. Her husband stood up to follow, but fell short.
Drake took a step forward, but was suddenly struck with a wave of grief that almost seemed to hold him in place. His feet then began to move in the opposite direction he wanted to go, moving backwards, hitting the side of his chair and moving it aside. His legs became weak and back hit the wall, then he slid down until he was sitting with his legs to his chest. Tears once again began to leave his eyes and his throat kept feeling as if it was closing up. His right arm rose up and was placed over his eyes as he tried to keep his tears at bay and sniffed the mucus leaking from his nose.
The doctor looked down at him, feeling pity as he watched him sob in grief for his lost child that he never even got the opportunity to see; to hold and to love with his entire heart and more. The hybrid choked, tears streaming down his face as he looked up at the ceiling, uncovering his sore mis-matched eyes. The heartache felt as if it growing more and more agonizing the more his mind clung to the thoughts of what his future could have been. Aching with the fatherly love that felt as if it was now clouded and replaced with anguish.
He was more than happy to adopt a child who needed them...but just once, just once, he wished that he could have let his eyes rest on the breathing embodied of his and Lalea's own flesh and blood. He wished he could have gotten a glimpse of his own blood child, but even so if it still had this tragic fate, this pain would still stab and linger in his heart.
"Sir?" The doctor's voices let him slip away from his mourning.
Drake looked at him, letting out a heavy, choked up breath. "Don't let anything happen to her... I've already felt enough heartache... I swear if she doesn't make it through that operation..." He cut himself off, knowing that this pain was not the doctor's fault.
"I have already lost my child... I can not lose my wife too."
...
One year later-
The two Magi laughed together as they walked through the park, a joyful giggle erupting from between the two. Drake and Lalea held the pale hands of a young girl, swinging her playful back and forth as they walked. She looked surprisingly similar to them, despite the fact that they were not blood related.
Her long curly brunette hair swayed with the rest of her body, her cheeks always flush and her eyes a gorgeous sky blue. She was slender like her adoptive father, and was beautiful like her adoptive mother. Her voice was light as she laughed and cheered in joy, playful like any other child her age. They all loved and cared for one another more than anything in the world.
"Alright, daddy's arm is getting tired." Drake said, lowering his arm and stopped lightly swinging her, causing Lalea to stop as well. The girl pouted as her feet touched the ground, now having to walk normally.
"C'mon, sweetie, don't give me that look." The hybrid said, looking into her wide, puppy dog eyes. He looked away, but couldn't resist giving in.
"Okay, fine!" She laughed as he picked her up, now feeling as if she could see the whole park with his abnormal height.
She hugged him, swinging her legs around but tried not to kick him. "Thank you, daddy!"
Drake laughed, before gazing over at Lalea. Her soft soft hand slipped over his free palm, her fingers gently wrapping around his hand before his own fingers closed around her own. He would never get over how gentle she was or soft her skin always seemed to feel. Even after years of being married, a blush came onto his cheeks, mainly only visible on his pale cheek since his other cheek was completely black from his Enderman skin.
Eventually they reached a bench, the two loving parents sitting down side by side next to each other. Drake set their daughter onto the ground, sitting back up as he told her to go play on the playground equipment but warned her to be careful. He did have a concerted look in his eyes. After losing his first child, he was a bit over protective, but it never went to a smothering extent.
She exchanged a wide, loving smile. "Okay! I love you mommy and daddy!" She cheered, before turning around and skipping over to the slides.
"I am sure she will be fine." Lalea assured, noticing Drake's worried face still remained.
Lalea rested her head against Drake's shoulder as she watched their daughter play. She felt his shoulders slightly bounce as he chuckled, his arm coming around and wrapped around her waist to pull her in closer to himself. He let out a relaxed breath before he too rested his head on her, his head resting on hers with a few strands of his hair falling in front of her face. Luckily she did not mind that.
His deep voice broke the relaxing silence. "I can't wait until she old enough to learn magic! I hope she is able to... It's going to be quite a ride."
Lalea laughed before responding. "Wait until she hits the teens years. Teenagers and magic probably won't be a good combination."
The hybrid once again laughed. "Yeah, but still... I am so glad to have her. I know that she is going to make us proud. She already has! Just as proud as I am of you, malady."
Yet another laugh escaped from behind the mother's lips, her cheeks becoming red and warm. She closed her eyes and snuggled up against him, becoming comfortable with her lover being so close. Drake did the same; closing his eyes and letting himself relax against her body.
Once his eyes opened again, his mis-matched orbs rested onto his daughter as she once again went down the slide, his ears perking up as she laughed in amusement. The sides of his lips perked up even more, more than happy with the family he was given. Forever he would love them more than the entire world, and protect them with all of his heart and soul.
"I will protect both of you and keep you both happy and well." His hand took her's again, pulling her even closer which only squished them together. Lalea lifted her head off of him, turning her head only for his lips to lock onto her own pink lips.
He pulled back, his other hand on her waist lifting up to mess with her hair. Her eyes were glistening in the fading light of the setting summer sun. "I promise. I won't let anything happen to you two."
She giggled before once again resting her head in his shoulder like she often enjoyed to do. "I know Drake. I know you will. You are an amazing husband and father. We have had our...problems in the past, but now things are better! You're doing everything right. I love you, and no matter what, I will never stop loving you."
Drake kissed her forehead, letting her rest as he turned his head and watched his little girl. He was grateful to have her in his life, to be his luck when he was lost his other child to that tragic event that felt like so long ago, yet so recently. The loss of his first child continued to persist within his heart, but the pain had healed to a mended scar. He was not going to let anything happen to his beloved family, not if he could help it. He refused to suffer that same heartache again.
