Grayson X Clara
This was suggested by Skylardove111Skylar. Just for everyone that doesn't know, Clara is the name I've given Grayson's wife, so don't be alarmed. It's NOT exactly an OC.

The commander sat in the field of bright green grass, with the dark green leaves swaying on the oak trees from the light breeze. The shining sun that rested high in the blue sky cast down rays of light upon the land, giving it's inhabitants warmth. Birds chirped, and the various vibrant flowers moved as one with the leaves.
Grayson let out a sigh, enjoying the peace and fresh air. Life as a war commander didn't give you much time to enjoy nature like this. He enjoyed every moment that he could. He looked into the sky, finding no clouds in sight.
"Grayson! I'm back!" A light female voice called out.
He turned his head, smiling as his wife approached him. Her dirty blonde hair and light purple dress swayed in the wind. She moved some strands of hair from her face, letting the light shine even brighter in her sky blue eyes. Her hand wrapped around the handle of the basket in her grasp, as she walked closer to her mate.
"I picked a few apples and berries. You're welcome!" She said with a giggle as she sat down next to Grayson.
"Thank you, Clar' darling." He replied, putting his hand in the basket and pulled out a few raspberries and blueberries.
He began eating them one by one. His gaze moved to his wife, as she was quickly eating an apple. She suddenly stopped, resting her hands on top of her large baby belly. She let out a sigh, and tilted her head.
"This would taste better with jelly or something."
Grayson swallowed the last berry that he had gotten, before looking at her as if confused. "That's...a bit strange."
Clara laughed, putting her hand over her mouth as she did so. "Well, weird food cravings are normal when your pregnant. I've told you about that."
Grayson chuckled. "I know. I just like messing with you. I'll get you some jelly when we get home."
A blush spread on Clara's face. "Thank you, Grayson dear."
The blonde man scooted closer to his wife. He looked down, placing his hand gently on her stomach, listening to her heartbeat as he searched for a second one. He wanted to feel a kick, or something. His smile grew wider, joyful at the thoughts that he'd be a father soon.
"Speaking of that, how's our little guy doing?" He asked.
Clara chuckled, placing her hand on top of his, and lightly squeezing it. "They're doing just fine, snuggle muffin."
Her nose touched his, giving him little Eskimo kisses. Grayson's cheeks grew red as he laughed, his other arm lifting up. His hand rested on her cheek, lightly rubbing it with his thumb as he looked into her eyes. They were so calming.
His emerald eyes widened when he felt a sudden pressure against his palm. His back straightened and he gasped as his wife hissed, and put her arm around her stomach. Grayson took a hold of her hand, grabbing it and squeezing it tightly.
"Are you okay? Is it the contractions?!" He said at a fast pace, starting to get panicked.
Another laugh escaped from Clara's lips. "No, silly. Didn't you feel the kick?"
The blush returned to Grayson's face, burning his cheeks. He scratched the back of his neck, feeling a bit embarrassed. He pulled back from his love, and looked away from her. He pulled at his collar and wiped sweat from his face, relived that his wife wasn't giving birth just yet.
"Oh, y-yeah! I did!" His smile was wide, happy to have felt it.
"They're glad to have their daddy around to look after them." Clara moved closer to him after he moved further from her.
Grayson wrapping his arm around her waist, pulling her in until their bodies pressed against together. He pressed his cheek against the top of her head, smelling the scent of flowers in her hair, and feeling how soft the strands were.
"I can't wait until our little rascal is born. It's going to be a pain, but worth it."
He lifted his head up, placing his hand under his wife's chin. He moved her head, placing his lips against her own to give his beloved a kiss. He pulled back, letting them both take a breath. He grabbed her hands, feeling her soft skin, and his finger run along the golden wedding ring on her finger.
"I'll protect both of you with my life." He kissed the ring on her finger.
"Cross my heart."
Suddenly, everything started to become distant, pain filling his body. He opened his eyes, not finding her hand or even his own in front of himself. Instead, he stared down at tiled pavement. He moved his arms, feeling them bound in chains behind his back. Cheers from a large crowd filled his ears. No. He recognized this.
His eyes darted up, seeing the fire burn his wife, her screams filling the air. Tears filled Grayson's eyes, and streamed down his face. His heart shattered...again.
"Clara!!"
___
Grayson shot up straight in his slipping bag, gasping for breath. Sweat dripped down his face and his heart raced inside of his chest. His eyes darted around, finding himself lying in his sleeping bag on the cold stone floor of his home. He was alone. He has been alone for some time now, ever since...that night.
He found himself chocking as his eyes filled with tears. He was so tired of being alone. Of not having the one he cared for the most by his side any longer. He missed her smile and her laugh, and how she was always there for him when he needed her.
He missed his son. He missed teaching him about life and hearing his laugher and giggles. They used to play together when he wasn't working, and the two would always have fun when he got the chance to be around the little rascal. Grayson missed the feeling of his tiny fingers wrapped around his own, and that smile on his big cheeks. Never again would any of that see the light of day again...
His shaking hands reached down into the pocket of his jacket, pulling out a golden ring that matched the one on his gloved hand. The diamond on the top of it still shined, almost reflecting his past with his beloved, up until she was taken from him. Murdered.
He gripped it tightly, pulling his legs to his chest as he buried his face into them. It was all his fault that his wife and son were dead. For so long those dreams, those memories, had haunted him. He choked, unable to breathe as his nose filled with mucus and his lungs ached with every gasp he let out. Salty tears covered his face and stained his pants as he sobbed into his knees.
"I'm sorry... It's my fault." He gasped out.
He suddenly felt a light touch on his tears stained cheek. He looked up, his vision blurry from being filled with tears. There was a bright light before him; his eyes widening when it's form came more into focus.
"Cl-clar'?" He chocked out, his trembling hand reaching up to touch her face.
This had to be a dream. There was no way that this could be happening. Grayson touched her cheek, but his fingers went through her, feeling bitterly cold as the air became even more chilly. She smiled down at him, with her eyes closed.
"It's okay, my love." She said, her gentle voice slightly echoing.
"You did what was right."
She leaned in, making their noses touch. Her hands touched his cheeks as she got onto her knees, sitting in front of her husband. He quivered from sorrow and disbelief. He sniffed, more tears slipping from his eyes as he lifted up his hand to grab her arm. This time, it didn't faze though.
"I miss you so much...I'm sorry..."
"It's alright. Everything is going to be okay." She assured, her voice still a soft and light as he remembered.
He sniffed and chocked again, wishing that she would never leave him again. Unfortunately, he knew that one way or another, she'd disappear again. He closed his eyes, that burned from letting out so many tears of anguish.
He pushed his lips against her's, his salty tears being the only thing he could feel or taste. He pulled back, opening his eyes to watch as her light dimmed, and body slowly began to fade. His hand touched her cheek, his beloved fading from his life once more. He gathered up his breath, trying to get himself to speak before it was too late. For one last time, he would tell her...
"...I love you..."

Yeah...I wanted to make this short and sweet, but I just couldn't do it. There's too much angst to be explored with this back story!
I have other ideas in mind to, so there might be more of this ship later on, or a one-shot sort of thing.
