CH 18 | IGNORANCE
The rays of the sunlight skimmed your skin, filtering through the window as you crumpled your eyebrows before turning over to the other side. Holding the handful of the duvet, you pulled it up to your visage.
You wiggled your orbs with your closed eyes before the scenarios of the last night flashed through your eyes and mind.
You fluttered your eyes open as you could hear your breath in the serene atmosphere other than the chirping of the birds at a distance outside the mansion.
"Wait! When did I come into my room?" You sat up on the fluffy mattress before traveling your eyes all over your bedroom.
Stretching your hand to your head which was hurting a bit before tucking your tresses behind your ear and rubbing your scalp with the tip of your fingers.
Blinking twice you tried to remember when you came into your room, "I don't remember coming into my room. Then how come I am here?" You let out a sigh.
Removing the duvet from yourself, you glided down your bed before slipping your feet into your white furry slippers.
Standing in front of the bathroom mirror, you wash your puffy face with the cold water when you suddenly straighten up your back, looking back at your reflection in the mirror before your eyes widened as you muttered, "Did he take me to my bedroom?!" You declared in befuddlement.
Taking a warm water bath while only one thing was looping inside your head because you couldn't think of any other thing. He is the only one in the mansion.
You got out of the bathroom in a pinkish bathrobe before you opened the cupboard where your clothes were hung.
You took a lilac-colored top with pants of the same color. Tucking in the top inside the pants, you hung the coat on your shoulder before slipping your feet inside white heels.
Twisting the knob of your room open while taking a long deep breath, you stepped out of the room.
Looking at the door of his room which was shut while your heart was beating more than its usual pace.
Taehyung's sentences were still looping in your head, "I f*cking killed him! He died because of me." You let out a deep breath before whispering, "I hope he is fine."
"He was not okay, yesterday. Why am I feeling uneasy? He must be fine. I shouldn't be thinking about him so much." You thought, stepping down the stairs when you took a glance at the lounge which was looking pristine just like before you met the chef.
Turning around from the clacking of your heels the chef bowed down at you, "Good morning, Mrs. Kim." You smiled at her mildly before whispering, "Morning." Walking inside the kitchen while your orbs traveled around the couch and the dining table in search of the certain one.
"Please take a seat. I will serve you breakfast." The lady chef said as you said, "Yeah! I will drink some water first." She nodded while preparing the dish as you took a water bottle from the refrigerator before walking to the kitchen island and pouring yourself half a glass of water.
"Where is he? Is he still sleeping? No, yesterday he was all ready at this time." You gulped down a few sips of water as you turned around to the chef before asking her, "What should I call you?" You asked as she took a glance at you, "You can call me Daisy, Mrs. Kim."
"Oh okay. Mrs. Daisy, did you clean all the scattered glass in the lounge?" You asked gulping down a sip from the glass as she shook her head as 'no'. "No, Mrs. Kim. All the helpers come early in the morning to do the house chores and leave before 6 in the morning."
You made an 'o' shaped mouth, understanding who did all the cleaning, "You are new here, right?" You asked as she nodded, "Yes, Mrs. Kim. I just joined yesterday. Mr. Choi asked me to join the day before yesterday as it was an emergency." She declared.
You blinked, "She joined in, in an emergency. Taehyung appointed Mrs. Daisy in just a night... for me." You crumpled your brows, placing the glass in the sink while looking at the staircase in the hope that Taehyung would climb down from them at any time.
You came out of your reverie when you heard Mrs. Daisy. "Are you waiting for Mr. Kim?" She asked as you parted your lips to answer her but couldn't think of anything. Stammering at her, "Ah... Umm... Actually, Yes. Do you know where he is?" You asked.
Mrs. Daisy placed the toast on the plate, "Yeah. He went to the office early today. He said he doesn't have an appetite so I shouldn't make his breakfast and also I can take the untouched dinner from yesterday." You could feel the tint of sadness in the bottom of your heart.
"Why did he go early?" You muttered under your breath as you heard her ask, "Did you say something, Mrs. Kim?" You shook your head as you took a seat on the dining chair as she placed the plate in front of you.
You took a glance at your phone after fetching it out of your pocket, Half past eight. Placing the phone on the table you looked at the perfectly plated dish, "I don't feel like eating." You licked your lips before you clamped your lower one within your teeth.
Sucking in your teeth you looked at Mrs. Daisy as you asked, "Did you have your breakfast, Mrs. Daisy?" She shook her head, "No, Mrs. Kim. I will have it afterward." You raised your feet from the chair as she looked at you befuddled, "Mrs. Kim, Breakfast?"
You got a hold of your phone as you said, "I don't feel like eating. Have your breakfast. I will leave now." You declared, sprinting out of the dining room before she could say anything.
She blinked while you sauntered out of the mansion as she trotted to look at your departing figure and let out a sigh, "Did she not eat because Mr. Kim also didn't?" Mrs. Daisy whispered to herself. You climbed inside your car before steering off to the company.
"We have a meeting today. He won't skip the meeting." You declared, accelerating the car.
-
It was the time of the meeting when you were waiting for him to turn up for it. You were fiddling with your fingers sitting on the chair of your cabin.
Letting out a sigh, you looked up at the ceiling while all your thoughts were filled with his visage.
The way he was in a rage last night and the way he hurled up the vase on the floor without any second thought.
Another thing crashed your mind making your eyebrows furrow, "I f*cking don't know if it was really a break failure or someone did it intentionally!"
You opened your closed eyes, "Did someone do it intentionally?" You whispered, "Uncle Lee!" You declared while placing your hands on the desk. You came out of your reverie when you heard a knock on the door. You took a glance at the translucent door before saying, "Come in."
"He is here." You gazed at the door of the cabin getting open as you discerned Secretary Wang as he stated, "Secretary Choi is here, Mrs. Kim." You furrowed your brows as Secretary walked into the cabin all alone when Secretary Wang made his way back out of the cabin to bring the beverages.
Traveling your eyes back to the door, you waited for a few seconds for him to enter the cabin but the door was stiffly closed.
Secretary Choi stood across your desk as you raised your feet from the chair when he stated, "President Kim couldn't come for some reason."
Secretary Choi stretched his hand to shake it with you as you took a second or two to shake your hand with his, "Why didn't he come? Is he ignoring me?"
"Please sit." You said, gesturing for him to take a seat on the couch placed on the other side of the cabin.
Sitting adjacent to Secretary Choi you both discussed the project but your mind was somewhere else this whole time, "Is he ignoring me intentionally? Why the hell is he like this?" You thought as Secretary Choi explained the part of the project.
You both deciphered the concept of the project as he closed the tablet which was placed on the table. You smiled at him mildly, "I will inform President Kim about the changes." You nodded as you asked, "May I know why President Kim didn't come to the meeting."
You looked at Secretary Choi as he blinked twice before pressing his lips together, "President Kim didn't tell me any exact reason. He just said that he couldn't come." He declared as you nodded, "Oh okay." You gulped down as you both raised your feet.
Shaking your hand with each other, he took his leave as you let out a deep sigh, "When I didn't want to talk to him, he was coming to me, and now when I want to talk to him-" You cut yourself out.
"Why do I want to talk to him? Why does it feel so uneasy and strange that I haven't seen him since the morning? Why am I feeling this way? I wasn't like this before. What are you doing to me, Taehyung? I haven't felt something like this before... for you." You thought.
Unwittingly, clamping your lower lip within your teeth as you could feel the butterflies tickling your heart and stomach while your mind was full of his thoughts and the other you could think was of your father, "I am not gonna let this slide. How can he ignore me?" You whispered.
He had made a place in his heart that no one would have ever had. He has chosen a place for himself in her heart that she wasn't aware of.
You took a glance at your phone which was deposited on the table, "Should I call him?" You huffed, "What would I even say?"
-
Sprinting through the steps of the mansion, you walked inside the lounge through the foyer when you met with the serene atmosphere just like yesterday but you didn't find anyone.
The chandelier was hanging in the center of the hall, illuminating the amber light.
You walked toward the kitchen licking your lips. You turned on the lights of the kitchen before you got a hold of the refrigerator handle and took out the water bottle.
Pouring yourself a glass of water. Putting the glass aside, you forced yourself up the kitchen island as you sat over it.
Holding the glass back you quaffed half a glass down your arid throat and looked at the wall clock. Half past eleven. You came late today but still Taehyung hasn't arrived.
You sighed but you heard the main door of the mansion open. You straighten your back as you whisper, "He is here!"
