Over
Destiny was tired of defying Eric's requests for her to stay away from Roman.
Although she felt attracted to Roman and she didn't mean his looks, she actually felt an attraction towards him, but despite that she was tired of disappointing Eric.
He was her closest thing to a friend here, and he wouldn't just tell her to stay away from him for no reason, he had to be looking out for her because he cared.
Destiny had spent all night thinking about this, but she had made her decision as she walked slowly down the stairs to Romans floor.
She slowly walked through his lounge to his bedroom door and gave it a soft knock.
She waited patiently for an answer, after a bit she saw Roman as he opened the door.
His eyes lit up when he saw her. "Why hello. Miss me?" He asked happily.
Destiny immediately felt horrible, lile she just had a gun positioned in front of her heart and someone was about to pull the trigger, and that someone was her.
She looked down and fidgeted with her hands.
She looked up slowly at him, suddenly his face didn't look as happy, he looked very worried.
"Umm actually" she started.
Roman crossed his arms and looked down.
"I think we need to stop seeing each other" she told him softly.
He didn't look up at her. It was like he expected this.
"I get it" he answered her quietly.
"It's the end of something that never even started I guess" he mumbled quietly.
Before Destiny could even answer Roman slipped back into his room and closed the door.
And just like that, the trigger had been pulled, and her heart shattered in her chest.
She placed her hand very softly on Romans door and closed her eyes.
Everything hurt, her heart felt like it had actually been punctured, her arms felt like strings and her legs felt like jello, her entire body felt weak.
Slowly she walked away from the door and made her way back up the stairwell to her room in the attic.
And that's where she stayed for what felt like years.
Suddenly there was a knock on her door.
She was sunken on the floor in front of her bed, her hands on her ankles and her head resting on her knees.
She looked up at the door slightly, sighed and immediately put her head back down.
Then there was another knock, this time she didn't even bother to look up.
That's when the door opened.
She didn't need to look up to know it was Eric.
"Des, can we talk?" He asked her quietly.
Destiny also didn't need to look up to know he was looking at her.
"Go ahead" she mumbled.
Eric sighed.
"Im really sorry" he said as he slid down next to her.
Destiny stayed silent.
"Maybe I'm being selfish, but I just don't want to see you hurt. I don't know what I'd do if something happened to you" he told her.
"I know" Destiny lifted her head and looked over at him.
Her eyes were red and her face was tear stained.
"You were crying about what I said?" He asked.
Destiny shook her head.
"No" she spoke in a choked whisper.
Eric shifted his body to face her.
He reached a hand up to touch her tear stained cheek.
"What happened?" Eric asked worriedly.
"I told Roman I can't see him anymore" she said in a short cry.
Eric's face looked sad yet relieved at the same time.
"Oh Des" he pulled her into a hug.
"I'm sorry Hun, but it was for the best" he told her.
It didn't feel like it was for the best. It felt like this made everything worse.
"I know it hurts right now, but you'll feel better soon" he continued.
How? How was she going to feel better when she lived in the same house as the man she was slowly falling for.
Not only in the same house but one floor away from each other.
She'd have to see him everyday regardless. And even if she didn't see him when she passed by his floor, she'd still see his couch, where they had almost kissed. She'd see his room where she read about his fantasies, his room where he told her that everything he wrote was true.
Destiny sniffled and nodded in fake agreement.
Eric smiled at her and rubbed her back soothingly.
If only he'd known how much she truly cares for him, so much so that she was willing to hurt herself and Roman to keep him happy and sane.
