On Saturday morning, Emery was woken up by a squealing Cecilia.

"Emery," she said excitedly, throwing pillows on her face. "Em!"

Emery groaned, then flopped back underneath her covers.

Cecilia placed Marco on her bed. "Wake your mistress up," she told him.

"QUACK!" That was Marco.

He took his hard flippers and began waddling on her bed, in an effort to wake her up.

That seemed to do the trick.

Emery groggily sat up, looking around. "Naughty Bird," she told him sleepily.

Marco flapped his wings and jumped down from the bed, while Cecilia giggled.

"Cecy," she whined. "I always sleep in on Saturday, why wake me up so bloody early?" she grumbled.

Cecilia grinned, a sly smile playing upon her lips. "Yes, but not every Saturday is your birthday," she retorted.

That was all it took for all sleep to disappear from Emery's head.

"It's my birthday!" she squealed excitedly, rushing forwards and hugging Cecilia. "I'm seventeen. Finally!"

Cecilia hugged her back, thankful for all the moments they shared together.

"I've got a present for you," Cecilia said excitedly. "Come."

"I need to get ready first," Emery said.

Cecilia glanced at Emery, who was still in her pajamas. "Oh, right."

"Come here," said Cecilia, pulling her to the bed.

Emery looked at the large parcel on the bed.

Suspense getting the better of her, she slowly tore the ribbon open, then ripped the box apart.

It was a dress.

It was made of floaty, silvery material that shimmered whenever it moved. It was off shoulder, the shoulders made of net, holding sleeves that reached just above her elbows. The bottom part was made of layers, the front ending at her midthigh, while the back trailed to reach her knees. The waist was held by a thin satin ribbon.

"Oh, it's beautiful," breathed Emery.

Cecilia nodded. "I saw it last weekend at Hogsmeade, and I immediately thought of you."

Emery pulled Cecilia into her arms. "Thanks Cecy. Really, it's beautiful."

Cecilia winked. "Yes, but you have to wear it today."

"Today?" echoed Emery. "But I'm already dressed. Besides, this dress is too fancy to wear in school."

Cecilia grinned. "I know. You change into it later then. I don't care, whatever the case you have to wear it today. At least only for dinner," she added. "You'll hurt my feelings if you don't," she pouted.

"Oh, alright," Emery agreed, having no mind at all to wear it.

"Promise?"

Emery knew she was stuck then. "Promise," she grumbled, then shook Cecy's hand grudgingly.

"Now came along," Cecilia cheered excitedly, tugging Emery to the door and dragging her to breakfast.

When Emery entered the Great Hall she was astounded.

There were huge banners wishing her a happy birthday, and endless confetti falling down from the magical Hogwarts ceiling.

"Wow," she gasped.

"It's all for you," Cecilia smiled.

"How-"

"Thank Sirius," Cecilia said. "He's the one who persuaded Professor McGonagall to agree."

Emery felt a sudden pang of sadness when Sirius' name was mentioned.

"Right," she stated bluntly, then stacked her plate with bacon and toast, suddenly feeling hungry after smelling the seductive aroma of food.

Emery was in high spirits, mainly because she forced her brain to enjoy her seventeenth birthday without thinking about other stuff. (Related to Sirius)

All afternoon, Emery spent hanging around with her friends, opening presents and doing random spells just because she could.

She had received quite a number of wishes and cards from random kids at Hogwarts, who found out it was her birthday due to the decorations in the hall.

She had gotten a pet horse from her dad (which was at home, but he sent her a picture), and a new pair of shoes from her mother, and a watch from them too, as well as a book about Quidditch from Professor McGonagall.

The Marauders had given gifts to her as well. From Remus, she got a huge box of chocolate frogs, and a box of ice mice from Peter. James had given her a pranking kit, and Sirius had given her a pillow with her name on it.

Later in the evening, Hagrid had called her to his hut, and he wished her a happy birthday.

"Happy birthday, Emery," he said gruffly. "Got something for you."

He took her to the back of his hut, then showed her a small cage-like box, handing it to her.

Emery knew this was some sort of creature. Opening it slightly, she gasped in awe as she saw what lay in the box.

A duckling, just like Marco, soft, yellow and fluffy.

"Awww," she cooed, taking it in her palms. It opened a tiny eye and peeked at her.

"Hagrid, this is adorable, thank you so much," she beamed, running up and hugging the half-giant.

"I thought it'd give Marco company," he chuckled. "It's a female."

She smiled. "I'll name her Lily. Baby Lily."

She picked up Baby Lily in her hands, off to show Marco that he now had company. When she reached her dorm, Cecilia was reading a book on her bed.

"Look what Hagrid gave me," she said, smiling. "Isn't she adorable?"

Cecilia purred as she looked at the baby duckling.

"I named her Lily."

She showed Lily to Marco.

Marco turned away from Emery, not sparing a glance at Lily.

Cecilia giggled. "He's jealous."

"I know," smiled Emery. "He's just going to have to get used to it, because I'm not letting Lily go."

She placed Lily on her bed, petting her furry skin.

"Em," Cecilia called. "Wear your dress. Please."

Emery sighed. "Cecy.."

"Please, Em, I want to see how you look," she pleaded.

"Oh, alright."

Emery went into the bathroom to change.

The dress looked marvelous on her. It hugged her slim, willowy figure, and contrasted against her pale skin and blonde hair.

"It looks beautiful on you," breathed Cecilia.

Cecilia then stood up, placing a hair accessory in Emery's blonde tresses.

"Now it looks better."

Emery sighed. "Can I go now? I want to go feed Hagrid's acromantula."

Cecilia nodded, and Emery bounded out of the dormitory, running through the corridors as she rushed to get to Hagrid's hut.

She looked at her watch. She had three minutes before Hagrid went into the forest. Running a bit faster, she slowed down before she bumped into another Hufflepuff student.

Then, she turned around the corner, suddenly walking in on a couple passionately kissing, as if their lives depended on it.

"S- sorry," she spluttered, as they broke apart.

It was a very pink Remus, and a blushing Marlene.

That means that Sirius and Marlene aren't together.

"Uhh," she began. "I'll just go, yeah?" she said slowly.

Then she darted away from them her head spinning with thoughts of Marlene and Sirius.

When she reached Hagrid's hut, the he was nowhere to be seen.

Emery realized that he'd already gone to feed Aragog.

With a sad sigh, she found herself walking across the shoreline of the Black Lake.

The sun was beginning to set, and Emery, who always loved watching it, stood underneath a tree, overlooking the vibrantly red sun.

She was watching the birds as they took off to roost, and the water as it lapped gently on the rocks.

She saw a figure, out of the corner of the eye, arrive and stand near her.

One glance was all it took for Emery to know it was Sirius.

"Hey," he greeted.

"Hi," she muttered, not trusting herself to look at him.

"Emery I-"

"I'm sorry," she blurted.

They spoke at the same time.

Sirius sighed. "You first."

Emery shook her head. "Never mind, it doesn't matter," she said softly, looking at the water.

Sirius walked closer to her, watching her beauty.

Her crystal blue eyes had turned aquamarine as they glimmered in the sun, her golden hair had turned a shade of rose, her skin was glowing.

He was evermore so drawn to her.

Emery stole a glance at him. Did he know the effect he had on her? Her skin pulsed whenever he touched her, her heart beat faster, as if sensing his presence, her eyes would ignore everyone else but him...

She was staring at him.

Their eyes met.

Sirius leaned closer to her, suddenly lost in her eyes, far away, floating on a cloud, in his own little reverie.

Emery's breath hitched. "Sirius," she breathed, as his fingers clasped around her waist.

"Mery," he murmured, taking her face in his large palms and leaning closer, their noses nearly touching.

"Mery?" Emery questioned. "Who's Mery?"

Sirius sighed. "You."

"No, my name's Emery, why 'Mery'?"

Sirius cleared his throat. "It's a nickname I gave you."

"Oh," said Emery dumbly. "Why not Em?"

Sirius cleared his throat. "You know, because everyone calls you Em, so I thought I'd give you another nickname, and I decided to call you Mery."

"Ohhhh," nodded Emery. "I understand now," she smiled. "Okay, call me Mery."

He groaned.

"Goddammit, Emery, why must you always ruin the moment?" he said, clutching his hair in frustration.

"Moment?" she questioned. "What moment? I don't see any mome..."

"Argh, Emery, won't you just shut up?" Sirius snapped.

Emery giggled.

She loved bugging him. "No," she grinned. "I won't shut up until you make me."

Sirius suddenly grabbed her face, holding it in between his hands.

Their eyes locked, their noses almost touching.

Emery found herself unable to speak. Her breath was stuck in her throat, and she was gazing into the depths of Sirius' stormy gray eyes.

"Now?" Sirius whispered. "Did I make you shut up?"

"No," Emery found herself saying, as she continued straining her eye contact with Sirius.

"Your eyes are like ice creams," she said stupidly.

Out of shock, Sirius suddenly let go of her face. "What?"

Emery giggled. "Yeah, you know, your eyes look yummy, and ice creams look yummy too, and their so similar, that's why I said that your eyes look like ice creams, but now when I come to think of it..."

"Shut up," Sirius growled, grabbing her waist, and crashing his lips onto hers.

Emery froze, suddenly silenced by a pair of lips landing on hers.

He was kissing her.

He was kissing her.

Her heart was thundering against her ribcage and all thoughts of what she was saying suddenly disappeared from her brain.

Finally registering her shock, she gently kissed him back, enjoying all the feelings that came with it.

Fireworks exploded, and thousands of butterflies fluttered in her stomach. His lips sent tingles to her toes, and Emery was dizzy from the fervor of the kiss.

Kissing him in real life was far better than it was in her dream. Her emotions were running high, and all that mattered was Sirius.

He let out a growl into her mouth, and she felt herself being tugged closer.

She kissed him harder, releasing all of her intense passions into the kiss, not breaking away. She wrapped an arm around his neck, pulling him closer, threading her other hand into his soft, black hair.

Moments passed.

After what felt like days, they broke apart, both breathless.

"Did you know ducks are sometimes called fowls?" Sirius breathed.

Before Emery could respond, Sirius grabbed her face between his palms and kissed her with all the passion he could, sending unspoken messages through his lips.

Her lips were soft, and kissable, and Sirius groaned as her mouth worked furiously against his. He had dreamed of kissing her, and finally he had her in his arms.

And she was kissing him back, tugging on his hair, and pulling him closer, their bodies close to each other.

He pulled away from her, a goofy grin on his face.

She was smiling too.

The sun was nearly down, and Emery was still in shock that Sirius kissed her.

"Sirius," she said breathlessly.

"Shush, Emery, just- shush," he breathed, placing a finger on her lips. "Let me do the talking now."

"But..." Emery protested. "The girl you like..."

"Oh, bloody hell, Emery," he groaned. "How oblivious can you get?"

Emery stared at him, her eyes widened, waiting for him to speak.

"The girl I like, is you, Emery," Sirius yelled. "I love you."
