CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO
"Ow! Aoi that hurts!"
"Maybe if you hadn't gotten injured the wouldn't have happened!" Aoi was currently treating Leyona's wounds, after treating Aya's.
Leyona wasn't having it.
"Your wrapping this to tight!" Leyona cried, ripping her arm away from Aoi who just grabbed it again. "I am wrapping it tight enough. Now shut up and let me treat you!" Kanao watched from the door with a fond expression as the two bickered.
The woman was grateful that her two girls had come back alive, and she knew Aoi was as well, just showing it in a different way.
Aya had gone to sleep on one if the infirmary beds. She did not have a concussion, much to everyone's relief.
Mainly Leyona, for reasons that were pretty clear to everyone but her.
"There! Your done. Now get out of my office." Aoi shooed the light brown haired girl off the table, the wound on her arm and stomach bandaged. "Fine!" Leyona said, being mock-offended, then with a huff, turned around and walked out the door. Kanao hid a smile behind her hand, masking her chuckle with a cough.
"That girl....you couldn't have picked someone who didn't squirm while being treated?" Aoi asked Kanao, who shook her head with a smile. Aoi rubbing her forehead, turning away from Kanao.
"No, I couldn't. Sorry." Kanao said, and Aoi sighed, but she had a small smile on her face.
"Aoi tightened these far to tight." Leyona muttered as she stared at the bandages on her arms. They were white and clean, unlike the dirty kimono shred she had before. Aya sighed next to her. "I just want to sleep." She muttered, and Leyona sighed, flopping over onto her futon. She didn't want to admit it, but the girl was tired as well.
"Night Aya." She said into the pillow, but didn't get a response back.
And that night Leyona dreamed.
Leyona knew it was a dream right off the bat, for some reason, but couldn't control her movements. She appeared to be running.
She took a moment to look around her surroundings. She appeared to be in a alleyway, how cliche. She was holding a pink sword, and appeared to be wearing Kanao's butterfly haori and a pink tinted demon slayer uniform?
Excuse me, but Leyona would not be caught dead in anything pink. This person couldn't be her.
She could only look where the person who was certainly not her was looking, so Leyona just glanced around the general area, and her eyes landed on a demon.
Leyona hated him immediately.
Blond hair, with rainbow eyes that held the kanji for 'two' in them, with a carefree smile. He seemed relaxed and at ease, and suddenly the two began to speak, Leyona unable to hear any of it, much to her frustration.
Suddenly, she was lunging towards him, sword crashing against....
Where those gold fans?!
What kind of idiot brought fans to a sword fight?!
This demon was out of his mind, seriously.
Leyona got another shocker.
Those Kami-forsaken fans where working in holding whoever this person was, and not even struggling! How the hell where fans holding off a katana?!
Examining the demon again, and his weird ass eyes, Leyona came to the conclusion that this was not a normal demon. He moved far to fast, so fast that whoever was would barely keep up.
He was so fast that even Leyona didn't notice the fan coming for the woman's neck before it had connected with flesh.
A spray of blood flew through the air, painting the wall beside it with bright, crimson red.
Leyona stared at it, as the person began to fall back. The cut was deep, so deep that no amount of medical attention would fix that. For the entire battle, she hadn't heard or felt anything, just watched, but she felt this.
The pain, the agonizing pain, the way she gasped for breath, the way the demon laughed merrily. The sun was coming up, and Leyona wished for it to burn the demon alive. But it just looked at it, shook it's head, turned around and left.
Leaving Leyona and the mystery person to die.
Leyona woke up, sitting straight up and clutching her throat. Her eyes were wide and full of shock, she was sweating and for one wild second thought she was in the alleyway.
Taking the time to get her bearings, the girl rubbing her throat to make sure it wasn't bleeding out and overall trying to figure what the hell that was, Leyona exhaled heavily. "Hey, are you alright?" Her head whipped over to the voice, and see her concerned friend looking at her, her expression a combination of freaked out and worried.
"You looked terrified.....I was about to wake you up." Aya said, coming over and sitting beside Leyona on the futon, and just doing her best to comfort her. "I just had a bad dream." She sighed, curling her knees to her chest.
"Wanna tell me about it?" Aya asked softly, and Leyona shook her head. She didn't feel like saying what the horrors of her dream to another person, even Aya. It just felt.....wrong somehow.
Instead, the two girls just sat and talked, about smaller things like how hot it was outside or what they thought Aoi was going to make in the morning, until they both fell asleep on each others shoulders.
Leyona found she slept better with Aya close by.
Eotri pocketed the yen left on the counter.
She was in her bakery, and had recently just attended a customer.
The demon wasn't sure what she would do with the money, probably give it to random people in the poorer part of town, like she always did.
Flopping over onto the counter, she waved away her puppets. They didn't need sleep or breaks, but she at least wanted them to have them anyways.
Her eyes flickers to the scythe in the corner of the room, and she was reminded once again that this was not a normal bakery, her customers ate human beings, and she was one of them.
Eotri looked around the room. The curtains were rolled up, letting the moonlight stream in. Tables where against each one, various demons enjoying treats and such. The floor was a fir, sanded down and polished, and various works of art depicting animals and people. One had a young demon woman with black tied in a bun, and dark purple eyes.
The painter said her name was Tamayo.
A menu hung beside the counter, letting people know what deserts were there and how much they cost.
There was an outside patio as well, but hardly used. The Upper Moons usually where there, and the rest of the demons stayed far away from them.
It was....peaceful for once.
Shattered Legacy Secret
Aya's afraid of palm trees. Don't why or how she knows what they are, she just is.
I feel like we need a nice, wholesome chapter after the last two with all the crap going down right now.
